Chapter 437: Daphne
I sit in the tree, waiting for Lyra to find me, as I blend into the branches.
Below, a girl starts crying. A group of others are comforting her.
"I cannot believe my mate is not from Redmoon," she says, and begins to sob.
I watch from my position in the tree, interested. The other two exchange looks of pity and try to comfort her.
"It is not bad. You have met your true mate."
"Yeah, it is a joyous occasion."
The girl cries even harder.
"You know female wolves go to their mates' packs, and he is...he is...." She breaks into louder sobs.
"It is not bad," her friend says. "I have asked around. He is a nice wolf."
"Yeah, he is kind. Apparently, he loves pups."
"I do not give a fuck!" The girl snaps. "You know how they live like animals! What about my favorite TV shows? They do not have TVs! My hair! My fur! They do not care about grooming! My clothes!"
