The system implemented by the Saiyans on Planet Vegeta was actually not much different from that of Konoha Village; both were nominally nations but in reality, centralized military organizations.
As the King, Vegeta the Third was naturally the military leader of this organization.
Bardock was a grunt until his death, whereas Colonel Paragus was considered a high-ranking officer within the Saiyan military structure. In terms of age, seniority, or position, he was far above the "highborn" Nappa. When Paragus was fighting alongside Vegeta the Third, Nappa was still just a child.
Nappa showed little fear and stood up calmly.
Paragus was once a high-ranking officer, with a battle power "as high as" 4,200!
Was this number high? Actually, it wasn't low. When Nappa first arrived on Earth, he was only at 4,000. If someone with a battle power of 4,200 fought him then, they would have had a more than seventy percent chance of winning. However... that was ancient history.
Having his potential unlocked by the West Supreme Kai and undergoing two near-death upgrades, Nappa had borrowed the battle power detector from Bulma's side and knew his own battle power value had already broken through 100,000. A measly 4,200? Heh.
In the barbaric system of the Saiyans, what mattered in the end was the fist.
He asked rudely, "What are you doing on Earth?"
Paragus revealed a fairly amiable smile. "Thanks to the great grace of Vegeta the Third, my luck was relatively good before the planet was about to be destroyed by Frieza. I was sent out on a mission one step ahead. I haven't dared to contact you all these years. Recently, I heard... that fellow was defeated by His Highness the Prince, so I..."
His tone carried a trace of excitement. "Is His Highness the Prince here?"
Nappa actually hadn't had much contact with Vegeta recently. That person's temper was too eccentric. How good was Satan? He spoke nicely, offered all kinds of entertainment, and served all kinds of delicious food; Nappa didn't want to bother with Vegeta at all.
However, the matter at hand seemed to be Saiyan business. Both emotionally and logically, he had to say hello.
"I will contact Vegeta..." The words had not yet fallen.
"No need!"
Vegeta, trailing a golden tail flame, descended from far away to the scene.
The men and women in the amusement park, including the staff from the TV station, were all dumbfounded. Who was this man descending from the sky?
Seeing things spiral out of his control, and with Nappa winking furiously at him, Mr. Satan shifted his feet backward with very small movements, attempting to inch off the high platform little by little without attracting attention. He wanted to find his daughter first, then run away immediately.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Ino's words gave him a start.
He hurriedly put his finger to his lips. "Shh! Shh! Keep it down! Don't let those aliens see me!"
"Cough, cough, cough, cough."
Knowing his words were a bit cowardly, he coughed twice pretentiously and sized up Ino out of the corner of his eye.
When Son Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo fought Mechanical King Cold, he had been watching from not far away. He had seen almost all of the Z Fighters on Earth. He discovered that he didn't recognize this blonde woman; judging by appearances, she shouldn't be a companion of those "aliens."
In his youth, Mr. Satan had traveled with his master to train in martial arts. As a result, they encountered Tao Pai Pai on the road. That experience almost killed him. From then on, he swore never to fight with these guys who were ridiculously strong.
Videl's previously astonished look made Ino realize that Earth was still relatively "conservative." She had her two daughters descend to the ground. At this moment, Ino, bringing the two children, had restrained the energy in her body to the extreme. He couldn't see her depth and thought she was just a tourist bringing her children to play—such people could be found by the handful in the amusement park right now.
Ino deliberately teased him, "Mr. Satan, will we be in danger later?"
"This... this..."
Satan turned his head back with a stiff neck, sizing up that giant egg-shaped spaceship and the numerous mechanical soldiers. They seemed to be very strong enemies. He felt incredibly guilty.
But seeing Ino's children standing with his own daughter, he still put on the airs of an expert to brace himself.
"Mm, although I really want to teach these aliens a lesson, today... my stomach is a little uncomfortable today!"
Videl asked with great concern, "Dad, where does it hurt? If I rub it for you, will it get better?"
Mr. Satan was dumbfounded. A backstab from his precious daughter—how should he resolve this?
Meanwhile, on the high platform, the deeply scheming Paragus had been hoodwinking Vegeta into joining hands with him to rebuild a brand-new Planet Vegeta.
Vegeta didn't care about restoring Saiyan prestige or rebuilding Planet Vegeta. He already had some emotional foundation with Bulma now. Most importantly, Son Goku was on Earth. To catch up with the pace of this low-class warrior, he had put in hundreds and thousands of times the effort. He and Son Goku were absolutely a model of mutual achievement. Perfectly fine as he was, run off to the South Galaxy to rebuild Planet Vegeta? Don't be funny. Not going!
But after Paragus mentioned that a "Legendary Super Saiyan" had appeared in the South Galaxy, he was immediately moved.
Son Goku had received guidance from Bardock and became a Super Saiyan two years ago. He was also very hardworking, but ultimately, he was lacking something and had been unable to break through the final shackle. If he put down his pride and asked Son Goku for advice, he could avoid many detours. But he couldn't let go of his arrogance; he could only feel his way like a blind man touching an elephant. Walking like this, he couldn't see the end.
Two years of time—how many things had been delayed!
Now that Son Goku could transform into a Super Saiyan, his battle power directly multiplied by 50 times. He had absolutely nothing, fighting with base battle power? The gap was simply too large.
Anger. Vegeta was extremely angry. Anger at Son Goku, anger at himself.
He felt he was still lacking something. Now that this so-called "Legendary Super Saiyan" had jumped out, he felt this was his opportunity. He wanted to give himself greater pressure to become a Super Saiyan in one stroke.
"Fine, we set off now."
He immediately agreed to Paragus's request and boarded the spaceship without turning his head.
Nappa still had some loyalty to Vegeta after all. He could see that Paragus harbored malicious intentions. When the other party mentioned King Vegeta, that look of resentment—calling it repaying a debt of gratitude? Even a fool wouldn't believe it.
"Vegeta, I'll go with you."
Nappa strode forward to catch up.
Vegeta had long looked down on that bit of battle power of Nappa's, but he didn't refuse either. Having served him diligently for so many years, Nappa was an acquaintance after all. As the future new King, it would be really unsightly and too shameful if he, the Prince, didn't even have a follower by his side.
A cold sneer played at the corner of Paragus's mouth. A tiny Nappa wasn't in his eyes at all. Once they reached his territory, these two guys could be manipulated at will.
He flipped his large scarf and prepared to return to the spaceship. His gaze inadvertently glanced through the crowd and happened to see Mr. Satan, Ino, Himawari, and Kale.
