"Who are you? This is Professor Oak's Laboratory! Unauthorized entry is against the law!"
Early in the morning, Daisy had just woken up and was about to organize her lab reports when she heard the explosion of the front door being blown apart.
Wearing her white research coat, she rushed to the entrance and shouted at the intruders.
Of course, no matter how stern she tried to sound or how hard she worked to stay composed, she couldn't completely hide the panic showing on her face.
"Hmm? You must be Daisy Oak, Professor Oak's granddaughter," one of the intruders said.
"I'm Lt. Surge, the Gym Leader of Vermilion City! But if you look at the group of people behind me, you can probably figure out my true identity."
Lt. Surge typically wore either a military uniform or sailor outfit, neither of which bore the letter R. But now there was a large group of members behind him wearing the iconic Team Rocket uniforms. Daisy could tell at a glance that he was affiliated with Team Rocket.
"Team Rocket! What do you want!?" Daisy demanded, horrified.
Despite her fear, she forced herself to remain calm and tried to discover Team Rocket's objective.
"Emmm, is your grandfather, Professor Oak, here?" Lt. Surge asked.
When he posed this question, his entire body tensed into a combat-ready stance. Not only that, he was gripping a Poké Ball tightly in his hand, prepared for battle at any moment.
"Grandpa left the Kanto Region a few days ago," Daisy replied quickly.
She thought Team Rocket had come to cause trouble for her grandfather, and she felt relieved that he wasn't here. It would be terrible if Grandpa were put in danger at his age.
"He's not here!? That's great! That scared me to death..." Lt. Surge exclaimed in shock, then let out a huge sigh of relief.
Perfect—if he wasn't here, then whether those rumors were true or not didn't matter. He wouldn't have to face Professor Oak in battle.
"Miss Daisy Oak, please cooperate with Team Rocket. Don't worry, we haven't hurt any of the residents of Pallet Town. At most, we just knocked out those who resisted," Lt. Surge said, his tone now more relaxed and casual.
"I'm sure you don't want to be knocked unconscious, so just cooperate with us. We won't hurt anyone."
He waved his hand, signaling the Team Rocket members behind him to surround Daisy.
"You! Why would you, as the Gym Leader of Vermilion City, become an accomplice to evil? What benefits did Team Rocket give you!?" Daisy shouted at Lt. Surge.
She knew she couldn't resist now, but she couldn't help expressing her anger.
"I am a soldier, but the world seems too peaceful and boring now—there's no place for soldiers to demonstrate their abilities. So when the boss asked me if I wanted to help create an exciting world with my own hands, I pledged my loyalty to him. That's all there is to it," Lt. Surge explained.
He seemed to be in a good mood at the moment and even bothered to tell Daisy why he'd become a member of Team Rocket.
After saying that, he stepped aside, made a gesture as if to say "Miss, please proceed," and motioned for Daisy to follow him.
Daisy looked at the group of Team Rocket members and their Pokémon surrounding her and realized she had no way to escape. She wisely chose not to resist and allowed the Team Rocket members to tie her up.
"Remember this! You must not do anything inappropriate to this young lady! Otherwise, I will personally electrocute whoever does, bit by bit!!" Lt. Surge barked at his subordinates.
He genuinely appreciated Daisy's cooperation, and he immediately began scolding and commanding the Team Rocket members. At the end, he even displayed a menacing expression, proving he wasn't joking.
"Now! Take all the Pokémon from this laboratory! But remember—only take the Pokémon! Don't touch any of the research materials here, even if they're useless to Team Rocket! These are the results of Professor Oak's research, the essence of human knowledge! The Boss will not allow knowledge to be destroyed," Lt. Surge continued.
"Remember, we are Team Rocket, the fangs of evil, but we must also show respect for human knowledge and technology!"
"Yes, Lt. Surge!" the Team Rocket members shouted in unison.
They began searching for the valuable research Pokémon throughout the laboratory.
Daisy remained silent for now. She knew that nothing she said or did could stop Team Rocket at this point, but her mind was racing, trying to figure out what to do.
"Grandpa said before he left that if there's an emergency, I should notify Ash, Gary, and Eddie immediately!" she thought to herself.
"Oh, that's right! The Pikachu that Eddie left behind!"
Daisy looked calmly toward the small forest near Professor Oak's Laboratory. There, she spotted a group of sneaky electric mice secretly watching her.
They were well hidden, and only because Daisy was so familiar with them did she spot them immediately.
The Pikachu had originally wanted to come out and fight Team Rocket, but Team Rocket had superior numbers. Moreover, Lt. Surge, who was leading the operation personally, still emanated a stronger aura than Eddie had before his recent power-up, so the Pikachu immediately didn't dare act rashly.
Therefore, they could only watch Team Rocket secretly, angry but unable to do anything. They were deeply worried about Daisy, who had been taking care of them all this time.
Daisy knew them very well. At that moment, she simply raised her eyebrows slightly and gave a simple signal with her eyes. The Pikachu immediately understood what Daisy wanted them to do.
The Pikachu all looked at each other, hesitated for a few seconds, then nodded in agreement.
They arranged for a group with good combat abilities to come out and prepare immediately.
"Huh!? Is that the sound of electrical current!?" Lt. Surge suddenly said, alert.
"Everyone, be on guard! Enemy attack!!"
As an expert in Electric-type Pokémon, Lt. Surge was extremely sensitive to electricity. When the Pikachu began charging up their attacks, he heard the faint sound of electrical energy and immediately signaled his subordinates to prepare for combat!
"Pika~~~~chu!!!" the Pikachu cried out.
About six or seven Thunder attacks struck—powerful lightning bolts came crashing down from the sky, directly blasting away the Team Rocket members who were holding Daisy.
Of course, since Daisy was nearby, she was naturally affected a little as well. It was only natural that she'd be knocked down by the shockwave. However, the Pikachu had already controlled their positioning carefully, so Daisy was only knocked over and not actually hit by the electrical attacks.
"Pikachu!? I think you're all looking for death!" Lt. Surge roared furiously.
"Raichu! Go teach your relatives a lesson!"
Lt. Surge was enraged and immediately released his Raichu. When Raichu saw the large group of Pikachu, it grinned wickedly and without hesitation unleashed Wild Charge directly at them.
However, what Lt. Surge didn't realize was that these Pikachu had no intention of actually fighting them.
Both Daisy and the Pikachu knew they had no hope of defeating Lt. Surge, so they wouldn't throw their lives away at this moment. The Thunder attacks just now had simply been a diversion.
While Lt. Surge and Team Rocket turned their attention to that group of electric mice, other Pikachu lowered their voices and used Agility to quietly approach Daisy.
