Hearing Daniel's statement, Chantelle made a bold guess. She finally understood why Daniel had hated her six years ago.
"She used every trick she had to seduce my dad, but she failed. That was because my dad already had someone in his heart. Someone he cherished and protected deeply. He planned to confess to that woman after the college entrance examination."
At this point, Daniel lowered his eyes to Chantelle. Daniel seemed to hesitate, unsure whether he should continue.
Chantelle acted as if she didn't mind. She toyed with Daniel's fingers and said, "Back then, I didn't mean to scheme against you. I fell into Kate's trap. I'm not like her."
"Kate isn't worthy of being compared to you," Daniel said as he continued, seeing that Chantelle held no resentment.
