Several miles away from the prison community.
An armed convoy appeared in the distance and cruising along the road leading to Woodbury.
Inside the vehicle where The Governor, Merle, Shumpert and Ceaser are riding on.
"So..Shane's so-called family is actually someone else's? I told that guy is crazy!" Caesar let out an amused chuckle and finally realized why The Governor was in a bad mood.
The Governor is still slightly irked. "How come you never told us about this, Merle?"
At the backseat, Merle shrugged his shoulders helplessly. "I had no idea. I thought the family he was talking about was either that blondie or her sister since they were the only ones who were single when we were still rolling together. Heck, I didn't even know my brother was still alive and living this close to us till this day. That Shane really put in the work in tracking them down."
The Governor sighed. "I guess this is still good, though I would have preferred if it had gone the way I wanted to. Now, we have to think of a way to get rid of that group or I wouldn't be able to sleep in peace knowing that there's a hostile group living not far from us and could threaten our peace."
He turned his head to the side, parallel to his shoulder and addressed Merle. "Establish contact with your brother and convince him to turn on them. You have no choice on this or else for everyone's safety, I would have to put you under house arrest until I can fix this mess. I can't promise your brother's well-being if our groups clash during that time. Bullets have no eyes, Merle."
"It won't be easy, but I'll try." Merle said with some confidence, though inside, he was elated since taking actions from now on will be easier.
"But what will you do about Shane? Though he messed up your plans because he was lying or just crazy, it does not erase the fact that he was the reason why we found those people." Merle brought up the mess Shane made sense he was slightly worried about him, but he was actually more curious how The Governor would deal with him after this.
'I wonder what will happen when two crazy people go against each other.'
"Since today's operation fell through, I fear he might do something stupid after this. So once we're back, immediately seize Shane and put him behind bars."
"Okay boss." Shumpert answered from the back seat.
Meanwhile, inside one of the vehicles at the back of the convoy.
Shane was deep in thought while looking at the passing scenery through the window.
'It seems my time with this group is over. I need to think how I'll escape from them as soon as possible.' He knows his life would become even harder after what happened today, especially after seeing the look The Governor threw at him earlier.
'I already expected that they would have more people from the time I left them, but I just didn't expect that they would be as heavily armed as Woodbury. I even watched them for two days just to make sure Michael wasn't around. I thought today would be the day I would finally be reunited with Lori. That rocket launcher sure did change the game; the wall wasn't really a huge problem. Luring a huge herd of walkers to them would have solved it, but that bastard didn't listen to any of my suggestions and was the cause of today's failure.' Shane had long been unsatisfied with The Governor's handle on things, especially after he wasted the plans, he had meticulously prepared to deal with the prison group.
'Rashly confronting them was a stupid decision in the first place. It really makes me wonder why these dumbasses even follow that guy. He only has ruthlessness and the backing of good weapons to back him up since he's obviously an idiot with how he never bothered to listen to my advice. Now, I'm gonna be blamed for today's failure!' Shane constantly complained inside. He wasn't happy with today's outcome and how it was handled. And even though there's a raging volcano stirring inside him, his expression remained deadpan in the eyes of the other people around him.
Shane noticed something ahead of them and thought of something. He slowly leaned his body forward, his muscles becoming tense.
After travelling through open space, the convoy is slowly approaching an area of the road where both sides are surrounded by a forest.
Half of the convoy peacefully entered the forested area of the road, and midway through the journey as the convoy had slowed down at a sharp turn. Something happened in one of the cars at the back of the convoy.
"Hey!"
The person sitting beside Shane became startled when the latter suddenly opened the door and threw himself out of the car. He tried to grab him in an attempt to stop what he was doing, but he was a couple of seconds late.
Jumping out of the car, Shane rolled down the road while slightly curled up to protect his head and vital organs.
"Grr.."
He felt immense pain all over his body, but Shane gritted his teeth and picked himself up before making a dash towards the forest while the convoy came to an immediate stop. Everyone immediately alighted from their vehicles with one guy who did not hesitate one bit to open fire towards the direction where Shane had run into.
Ratatata!
Shane covered his head as bullets whisk past him and struck the trees and ground around him.
"Hold your fire and go after him!" The Governor quickly figured out what happened and immediately ordered everyone to go after Shane. He was amused and angry since he didn't expect Shane to do something drastic like this.
'A shame. He's got good instincts, but he's too obsessed over a woman and can't keep a clear head on things.' He thought, and it was so audacious of him to think that way when he's just crazy as Shane.
Michael would certainly have a laugh of it.
Half of the convoy entered the forest and went after Shane with Shumpert and Merle leading them while the rest remained on the road to guard the convoy.
"That guy is good. He already figured out he wouldn't have any future staying with us after this." Caesar was amazed and amused at the same time, but The Governor wasn't having any of it.
"I wanted to slowly torture him after returning, but I guess he needs to die now." The Governor scoffed and went back inside the car. He was confident that his men would finish that guy off soon.
'That guy is clever, I doubt he'd die today.' Caesar on the other hand had a different opinion. He knows what that guy is capable of since he had been constantly keeping his guard up against him since Shane arrived at Woodbury.
'That guy immediately managed to gain some support from the residents not long after joining us. Dudes got some killer charisma, it always made me wonder if he had managed to convince some of our fighters on his side. Hmm.. I guess we'll know after this. Though it turns out today wasn't so bad since we managed to gain a justification to finally get rid of him.' Caesar thought a lot of things. He threw a quick glance towards The Governor inside the car and saw a smirk on his face.
'I guess he also noticed that Shane was a threat to his position. Lucky bastard.'
