Chapter 34 - Chapter 34 Mutated Bird

"Watch out!" Serena said as she sent a number of vines heading straight towards Major Kyle.

"You too," Major Kyle replied and nimbly dodged the vines and caught some in his hands. Soon, a fire burst out from his palms and engulfed the vines, burning them into ashes.

"Impressive!" Dylan shouted as he watched them spar from the sidelines.

They had been training for three days, and everyone was honing their combat skills and abilities diligently. No one dared to slack off.

"Here," Dylan handed Serena a water bottle after the spar.

"Thanks," Serena said and gulped down the water.

"In the future, if you meet a fire ability user, you have to be careful. From what I noticed from these past few days, plant ability users and mutated plants' main nemesis seems to be fire," Major Kyle said and then went on to comment on all of their abilities.

"From my observation, healing ability users will be the weakest among the awakened humans. As for now, we don't know which abilities will be the nemesis of strength, space, and sound abilities. As for my fire ability, it will be water and ice. If there are people with water and ice abilities, they will be my nemesis," Major Kyle explained.

All of them listened to Major Kyle with seriousness. They were figuring out everything by themselves slowly, as everything that was happening to them and around them was completely new.

"It's lunchtime. Everyone be back by 2:00 pm. We will continue with training," Major Kyle said.

Sylas held Dudu in his arms and walked out, heading straight towards the dining hall. Dudu had also been training in the isolation room alone. The boy was surprisingly obedient and didn't make a fuss. The soldiers responsible for looking after him prepared several scary-looking dummies for him to practice on. Since he was a child, he still couldn't control his sound wave attack. The concentration of the sound wave attack was messy, and the soldiers had to observe him from afar.

"Did Dudu train well today?" Leo pinched Dudu's cheek and teased him.

"Bad uncle, don't pinch my cheeks," Dudu said, hiding his face in Sylas' chest.

"Haha... come here...."

Midway, Leo immediately stopped, and Sylas too halted.

Ah!

The sound came from the training hall. Although the sound was faint, as awakened humans, their hearing abilities far exceeded those of normal humans.

Sylas immediately handed Dudu to Leo and sprinted back. His speed was fast, and within seconds, he appeared at the door of the training hall.

Inside, Serena stood in the hall alone, looking at her palm. Her bag was on the ground, and she stood there motionless.

"What happened?" Sylas asked as he strode inside.

Within seconds, everyone arrived.

"What's going on, Miss Bale?" asked Major Kyle.

"The... the stone. It's gone..." Serena said in a low voice.

"Gone! What do you mean?" Dylan asked, looking at Serena's hand.

There was only a small pile of dust in Serena's hand and nothing else.

Serena took a deep breath and explained.

"I wanted to grow a jujube tree and plant it outside the hall. I thought I grabbed the jujube seed, but it was the green stone from the mutated plant. As soon as my ability activated, I immediately felt a warm current in my hands, and I felt a strong plant energy in the stone, full of vitality. I subconsciously absorbed it all, and when I came back to my senses, it had already turned into dust," said Serena.

"How are you feeling now? Is everything okay with your body?" Sylas asked as he observed Serena.

"No, I feel very refreshed, and the earlier exhaustion is also gone. I feel like I have already recovered. Normally, it would take me one hour to recover my strength," Serena replied.

"Looks like we need to absorb the stone through our hands," Leo said.

"Let's go to Doctor Farlo right now. Let him check on you and do some tests to make sure everything is fine," Major Kyle immediately said.

Serena nodded her head in agreement. Although she didn't feel anything wrong with her body, it was better to be safe than sorry.

"I will take Miss Bale to Doctor Farlo. The rest of you can go have lunch," Major Kyle said to them.

After lunch, Sylas strolled outside for a while. As he was planning to head back to the training hall, he felt something above and immediately looked up. He saw a black object flying towards him at a great speed. Sylas immediately narrowed his eyes and raised his hand, sending out a spatial blade. The spatial blade instantly and cleanly cut the black object in half, and it fell down a few meters away from him.

"Mr. Gray, what happened?" The nearby patrolling guards immediately noticed the abnormality and rushed towards Sylas with guns in hand.

Sylas walked towards the black object and squatted down to observe it. It was a black crow. Its eyes were deep red, its beak gleamed under the sun like metal, and its feathers were sharp like steel blades. Its head was severed cleanly by Sylas's spatial blade just now, but its body was still twitching, and its feathers were flapping wildly.

"Mutated bird," Sylas uttered as he observed the mutated black crow.

"My God! A mutated bird?" The soldier on patrol duty was shocked.

The soldiers were aware of the existence of awakened humans and mutations.

"Inform the Major about it. Mutated birds can fly into the safe zone. An aerial observation team has to be formed, and they have to be shot down immediately if spotted," Sylas said to the patrol soldiers.

One of the soldiers immediately ran back to inform the Major about this new threat.

Looking at the mutated bird that was bigger than a normal crow, with abnormal eyes and feathers, Sylas had a very bad feeling.

Sylas asked for a piece of cloth and picked up the bird. Then he immediately went to find Doctor Farlo.
