The powerful slam of Tu'shan's Stormbearer Thunder Hammer cracks the floor like a tectonic shift, dislodging the entrenched position of the desperate cultists. Those bracing their crappy ranged weapons on motley barricades and corpses find themselves slipping in between the cracks in the floor, their aims shaken wildly away from the charging Sisters of Battle.
Faster than the destabilized traitors of mankind can react, Canoness Superior Elyzabeth Fortier jumps beyond the damaged barricade, her armored feet crushing the spine of a fallen cultist upon landing. With a cold hum beneath her helmet, Elyzabeth finishes the screeching heretic off with a superheated blast from her Inferno Pistol. The cultist's head is evaporated, and the Melta beam burns deep into the cracked and uneven floor. After that, the Canoness Superior directs the muzzle of her thermal weapon at the remaining heretics.
With apparent ease, Elyzabeth reaps the lives of the human traitors with successive pulls of the trigger of her Inferno Pistol. In between the shots, Elyzabeth swings the gleaming blade of her personal Power Sword, the Blade of Purity, and slashes the barrel of a Heavy Bolter that is right to her left and has keeled over on its tripod due to the unstable terrain. The slash from her blade separates the barrel of the heavy weapon into two smoking halves, and the radiated faith energy from the Blade of Purity also renders a purge on the tainted machine spirit of the Heavy Bolter.
Elyzabeth is not, however, alone in her path of delivering righteous judgment. Right by Elyzabeth's sides are her most trusted Celestians, and around them all are multiple squads of capable and experienced Battle Sisters. Many can be seen wielding Blessed Bolt Rifles, Plasma and Melta Guns, but a few veteran Sisters and Celestians are wielding Inferno Pistols just like Elyzabeth is. Rarer, but no less impactful on this woven, accursed heretic structure, are the Celestian Sacresants who carry with them Annointed Halberds and Sacred Shields. The Sacresants advance with Elyzabeth whenever she goes, forming the wall against which waves of heretics and horrors have been broken by might or by faith.
Elyabeth and the Celestians, with their helmets wreathed in golden coronas, inspire their fellow Sisters of Battle and Cadian Guards, garnering respect from the nearby Salamander Astartes, yet strike absolute terror into the hearts, minds, and souls of the heretical turncoats. The cultists know that being killed by the holy weapons of the Order of Our Martyred Lady will bring upon an agony unimaginable to them all.
"R-Run away! Run away!"
"Retreat! Get outta here!"
"No... No... No! Not like this! His great design is not yours to disrupt, blind zealots!"
"If you want to stay back and fight these interlopers, then do it by yourself! We will gladly accept your noble sacrifice!"
"Screw that! I want to live!"
"Wait... Wait! What are you doing, you honorless curds!?"
Once more, the heretics give up precious ground to the Joint Task Force's overwhelming firepower and presence. Since many of these heretics are followers of the Lord of Lies, it's understandable that their morale is the first to break. The followers of the bluebird head even backstabbed the devotees of the other three Chaos pantheons, letting them be the unwitting rearguards against the black and green armor tide, ignoring any and all semblance of camaraderie.
How typical.
Just before the Order of Our Martyred Lady can help advance the line even more in the name of the Holy Emperor, an update comes over the Vox link.
"Chapter Master Tu'shan, Canoness Superior Fortier, this is Magos Hedagine."
"Speak your words, Magos." Elyzabeth replies concisely while giving a nod to the Celestian Sacresants that are forming a spherical wall of steel around her location.
"After we used a rather... Unconventional method, we have successfully gained control of the cogitator arrays in this observation room."
"Define unconventional." Elyzabeth requests, for all she knows, it could be a trap in the making.
"The Ein kind of unconventional." The Magos swiftly replies in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Ah, then that checks out." Elyzabeth nods at that before urging. "My apologies for doubting you, Magos. You may continue."
"No harm's done... With the cogitators secured, I have gained access to not just the security systems on the above-ground floors but also the blueprint, or at least a facsimile of it. The heretics have installed three central hubs with which they are using to house the fire control and detection suites for the anti-air and anti-orbital emplacements on Installation 08. Two of which are very near to the main force's current position."
The moment the Magos finished her words, new icons appeared on the HUD of Elyzabeth's helmet. The Tech-priest then continues to say.
"I have highlighted the target locations and recommended pathways. How you proceed from here on out is, however, entirely up to you, as long as the hubs are destroyed. Given that the third hub is nearest to the Recon unit, however, Sergeant Tu'rok has deemed it ours to engage, with its location similarly shared with you as a precaution. Additionally, proximity sensors indicated that the enemy is amassing its forces to protect the three hubs. Your two targets, though, seem to have the bigger concentrations of hostile, but not to the point of the prior defense line you demolished, it would seem."
"This is already helping aplenty. My regards to the entire Recon unit's effort and Ein's peculiar intervention."
"I will pass on the words... She certainly is a bundle of surprises." The Magos adds one last comment before the Vox link goes still once more.
Smiling wryly beneath her helmet, Elyzabeth murmurs.
"That's my daughter for you... Perhaps a suitable reward must be prepared." Elyzabeth analyzes the two highlighted locations, situated on two paths that rarely intersect with one another, according to the captured schematics. "She has eased the process a lot. Now it's time for us grown-ups to handle the heavy-lifting."
"Well said, Lady Fortier." Comes the booming voice of Tu'shan from behind Elyzabeth.
Seeing that it's the Salamander Chapter Master, the Celestian Sacresants and Battle Sisters part way, forming a corridor so that the Salamander Astartes can approach for a conversation.
"Chapter Master." Elyzabeth turns and gives Tu'shan a grateful nod. "Your strike was pivotal in allowing us a swift demolition of this entrenchment. How do you want to proceed from here?"
"The Salamanders will handle one objective." Tu'shan gives a swift answer. "However, I will have brother Byron fight alongside you. That is, if you all don't mind his present eschewing all semblance of subtlety."
"I heard that, brother Tu'shan!" Comes the loud retort from one of the Salamander Dreadnoughts that is busy roasting a cultist on his Power Fist.
"I think we are way past subtle at this point. With Venerable Byron around, the Sisters can deliver justice even more fervently in the name of the Emperor."
"Then we have our course of action." Tu'shan nods. "Once the Cadians have secured their casualties, the Salamanders, other than brother Byron, will split up to destroy the Western objective."
"The Eastern one is ours to demolish. Let's rendezvous back here once we're done."
Both leaders then summarily turn around to command their respective comrades. When the dead and injured are sorted by the Cadian combat medics and Sister Hospitallers, the Salamander Chapter separates from the Sisters of Battle and Cadian 8th. Some may say that splitting their already limited force even further is the height of stupidity, but what is war without risk?
When Elyzabeth leads her Sisters of Battle and Cadians to bring down the Eastern hub, she does so chasing the tails of the retreating heretics. Heretics that have now been made frenzied when the literal personifications of the Angels of Judgement are hot on their heels. Some, losing to despair and helpless rage, grow a backbone and turn around for a vain charge. Many others dart away like scurrying rats, seeking shelters and hiding places in which the Emperor's Will may not be made manifest.
None lasts long.
Those who stand and fight are cut down unceremoniously by the disciplined volley of the Cadians' Hellguns and Lasguns. Others who seek defensible locations find themselves flushed out by sacred Promethium flame. More often than not, it's the Cadians who take to killing the traitors with fervor so that the Sisters of Battle can spare their precious Blessed Bolt Rounds for more hardy targets. This, of course, allows the truly desperate and resilient cultists to somehow slip through the firepower net and approach the core of the formation, Elyzabeth.
Even if they manage to sneak past the perimeter Battle Sisters, the moment they lay their murky gazes on the towering shields of the Celestian Sacresants protecting Elyzabeth, however... That will be the last thing they see. Faster than any of these treacherous humans can react, the Annointed Halberds of the Sacresants will lob off their heads and split them in half from top to bottom, no holds barred. Elyzabeth never once broke her stride because of their valiant escorts.
With nothing left to throw at Elyzabeth's deadly push, and now that their backs are against the wall, the cultists try to create a last-ditch barricade using whatever they have left. In record time, they assemble a crude bastion that separates Elyzabeth's unit from their ultimate objective. The cunning cultists even seek to booby-trap the barricade, but Elyzabeth has no need for any of that.
Rather than brazenly charge the seemingly flimsy line and crush everything beneath their feet this time, Elyzabeth directly calls forward those wielding Plasma Guns and Melta Guns. So close to their target now, Elyzabeth decides that she won't play any game with cornered rats. And, under the shocked gazes of the heretics, both Sisters of Battle and Cadians raise their special weapons at them. What follows can only be described as the second biggest blast inside the headquarters to have ever occurred throughout this decapacitation operation.
Apparently, that booby-trap actually got blown up by attacks, taking with it the entire barricade and the traitors behind it... Whose bright idea was it to mine their own cover with bombs again?
Out of their wits, the survivors run straight into the critical hub, sparing no attempt at trying to close the blast door, the truly last line of defense, to no avail. As stated by Magos Hedagine, the security system is under the JTF control now, so the heretics can't even close a single door. Soon, the Sisters of Battle chased them down to their last castle.
Upon seeing the towering black armor that stands a head higher than themselves, the commander of the heretics guarding this critical hub panics. With no regard for his fellow cultists still retreating into the hub, the heretical commander orders the single Multi-Laser turret inside the hub to fire indiscriminately down the corridor from which the Order of Our Martyred Lady appears. The multiple red beams emitted from the Multi-Laser turrets easily cut through entire columns of human cultists before sparking against the power armor of the Adepta Sororitas. Yet, that's all they can do, spark.
Stepping past the confines of the protection offered by her Battle Sisters, Elyzabeth confidently walks ahead and into the line of fire. She does so not without prior precaution, but with the belief that her faith, her armor, her Rosarius, and Ein's lovingly crafted badge, will keep her safe to deliver the one true judgement.
Death to the Emperor's enemies.
As the laser beams pelt the Conversion Field of the Rosarius that converts even the most deadly shot into harmless photons of the visible spectrum, Elyzabeth raises her Inferno Pistol calmly and pulls the trigger.
Once.
Twice.
Thrice.
Until the crew hiding behind the flimsy gun shield of the Multi-Laser turret is all melted through like the weapon they are using.
Without even looking back at her subordinates, Elyzabeth speaks.
"Go. Plant the bombs."
"At once, Sister."
Then, the Battle Sisters and Cadians surge as one singular unit, storming the hub and eliminating the last few resistances and the local cultist commander with impunity. Afterward, Melta Bombs are planted in abundance all around the precious, yet corrupted detection instruments and cogitator arrays.
Elyzabeth doesn't even look back when the explosions happen behind them.
"This is Fortier. The Eastern Hub is destroyed. Proceeding to the rendezvous point."
