Chapter 57 - Chapter 57: Demon Rebirth

Back at the shack, Nova returns to thousands of corpses all over the place, with Kaya and Nicole killing off the last of the soldiers in the area. While walking over, Nova said, "It won't be long until Maria arrives with the rest of her army; we need to move." Nicole had a disappointing look on her face while saying, "No more running; the enemy is here. It's time to face them," both of them. Started arguing back and forth until Kaya threw a blood spear in between them. Piercing a soldier's body, Nicole and Nova shifted their gaze towards her. Kaya let out a small breath of air before saying, "We hold them here. Testarossa and Jade are almost recovered; even though Jade's body has no mana anymore, her martial arts and knowledge of battle should be enough. In the meantime, we will slaughter all the soldiers." Nova and Nicole nodded in agreement before preparing for battle. Nicole pulled out her twinblade and covered it in light, making it glow bright yellow. She stood up, twinblade in hand, and while walking towards the ice wall, Nicole pulled out a pocket watch that looked different than normal; while looking at the face of the clock, she noticed that the clock had three faces. The first one looked like a sun, and the second was a moon, but the third was covered in spikes and had the word "After hours" written onto the face. Nicole covered the watch with her mana and was able to locate a hidden button on the side of the watch. No matter what she did, the button wouldn't work. She grew frustrated and put it back in her pocket before letting out a sigh. Meanwhile, Nova created an ice sword covered in spikes, and then she summoned her spear and made a few adjustments to it; she removed the head of the spear and replaced it with a much sharper one. Carrying her spear and sword in hand, she walked up to the ice wall and started gathering mana around her body. Nova's body temperature dropped lower and lower. Nicole realised that her skin was getting pale. Nova opened her eyes and let out a breath of air that was so cold it froze in a few seconds. Nicole realised that she dropped her body temperature to below freezing. With a shocked expression on her face, she said, "How interesting." Suddenly a massive red blood projectile hit the ice wall, and before it shattered, Kaya stood in front of them with blood veins on her body and horns on her head. She smiled in excitement and said, "Let the slaughter begin." The ice wall shattered, and soldiers swiftly started coming at them without hesitation. Nova, Nicole and Kaya started killing each soldier in sight; there were thousands of them. Nova used an ice spell called "Thousand Frozen Crosses", which summoned a massive amount of ice spikes from the ground. The spell killed hundreds of soldiers. Nicole swiftly followed up with a spell called "Judgement of Michael"; massive light blades appeared from the sky and impaled multiple soldiers. Kaya jumped into the air and slashed hundreds of soldiers with her swords. She sheathed her sword and started collecting blood around her swords, but before she could draw them, she suddenly felt a familiar feeling within her chest. Her eyes widened, and she had a serious look on her face. Kaya started gathering all her mana into her hand and uttered a single word, "condense". The space cracked as blood started flooding the area. Nova and Nicole looked towards Kaya and felt a powerful presence coming from her. Kaya placed her hand in the blood and grabbed it. All the blood started forming around her hand as it took the shape of a sword. Kaya took a deep breath and opened the sheath slightly and said, "Iyasu's first technique: Crimson Flood." Blood started coming from the blade; with every soldier the blood hit, they started screaming in pain, as the blood from the blade was a deadly acid that melted through the bones. Kaya jumped into the air and said, "Nicole, Nova, I will leave this and the others to you. There's something that requires my attention. I trust you both. Good luck." Kaya disappeared into the wood. Nova looked at Nicole and said, "What was that sword?" Nicole replied, "That is one of the legendary four divine relic swords; it's called Iyasu. For a long time, it has been passed down in the Bloodfallen family, but I had no idea it was in Kaya's possession." Nicole smiled and thought, "That's 3 of the legendary swords. Testarossa has Tsuno, Shiki uses the E.N.D., and now Kaya wields Iyasu. I wonder where you are, sword of origin." Meanwhile, Kaya cut a path through the soldiers and said to herself, "It can't be this woman; she is supposed to be dead." "Sister, is that really you that I'm sensing?" Kaya headed deep into the night following this familiar presence.
