The Eastern War Nest appeared before the legion not long afterward.
Unlike the Red Nest Outpost, which had been built atop an exposed plateau, this place had nearly merged with the enormous organic mountain range surrounding it. Layers of black-and-red armor overlapped to form walls hundreds of meters tall. Countless tunnels of various sizes opened across their surface, resembling dark mouths waiting to swallow anyone who dared enter.
Noan stood on a nearby slope, staring at the main gate.
It was wide open.
There were no insect soldiers standing guard and no active defensive towers. Even the patrol units they had encountered along the road had disappeared.
Monica stood beside him, her eyes narrowing as she examined the gaps in the biological walls.
"It's too quiet."
Noan didn't immediately order the army to advance. He continued watching the open gate and asked in a low voice, "What's inside?"
"I can't tell." Monica shook her head. "These walls can obstruct my senses."
