Chapter 302 - 302: Not Strong Enough for Ideals

Kasenhis gripped Nios's heart and crushed it hard.

Spulch~!

Blood burst out and splattered across Barty Crouch Jr.'s face, snapping him awake. He immediately grabbed the Portkey and activated it.

The next moment, the alchemical mechanical arm slammed into the patch of ground where he had just been standing, blasting out a massive crater.

"Slippery little rat, he can really run," Kasenhis clicked his tongue, looking at the Nios he had skewered.

"Mm, this time it's the real one…"

When they returned to Hogwarts, Snape was leading several young wizards in skinning and dismantling the dragon. All of it was precious potion and alchemical material.

As for why property that should have belonged to a dragon reserve was now being dug up so enthusiastically by Snape…

You know, I, Snape, had an unhappy childhood.

It fell on the ground. I thought nobody wanted it.

I don't care. Go tell Dumbledore.

We're all doing our best to resist Voldemort.

Meanwhile, Professor McGonagall slowly guided Hogwarts back into its original foundation pit, and in the end was directly teleported by the necklace back to an empty bed in the Hospital Wing.

The professors and the two other headmasters had all gone to the Hospital Wing to visit the great hero who had defeated the hundred-meter-tall dragon.

By the time Kasenhis arrived, Professor McGonagall was gnawing on a roast chicken.

"Uh… looks like things turned out quite a bit better than I expected, didn't they?" Kasenhis said.

"Yeah. I thought I'd be unconscious, but it turns out I'm just a little tired, that's all," Professor McGonagall shrugged.

"That may be so, but eating roast chicken right now won't make you uncomfortable?" Kasenhis asked in surprise.

"No need to worry about that. Severus brought over a batch of digestive potions earlier today," Madam Pomfrey explained from the side.

"Ahem. Well then, this whole affair has been resolved perfectly. The only annoying thing left is that I'll have to be a substitute Transfiguration professor for a while," Dumbledore said with a wry expression.

"Oh, right… didn't he already die once? How did he die again?"

Only then did everyone notice that Kasenhis still had a person ..skewered on his arm!!

"The last one was flesh alchemy, but this one should be a real person. Unfortunately, he's completely dead. See if you can still dig out some memories or something," Kasenhis said.

"It's very difficult. His soul has already departed," Dumbledore shook his head.

"I see. What a pity," Kasenhis sighed. The next moment, raging flames suddenly erupted from Nios's body, and in the blink of an eye, it was burned completely to nothing.

After that, he left the Hospital Wing. Instead of returning to his own office, he headed toward the Headmaster's office.

Hmm…

Very clearly, there was already someone in the Headmaster's office.

"I just went to see Professor McGonagall. Why didn't you go as well?" Kasenhis asked.

"She doesn't like me anyway. Why would I go stare at her sour face?" Grindelwald shrugged.

"You could at least watch her awkwardly eating roast chicken. Might even get a chance to mock her," Kasenhis said as he found a seat and looked at Grindelwald. "So, how did it feel dancing with Dumbledore?"

"What can I say? So many years of being headmaster have made him clumsy. I think he should exercise more," Grindelwald shook his head.

"Oh, I'm very sorry about that," Dumbledore said, having no idea when he walked in. "Perhaps I could choose to go swimming in the Black Lake instead? What do you think?"

"I'm afraid you'd get eaten by that giant squid," Grindelwald raised an eyebrow.

"And so what? Kasenhis, did you need something?" Dumbledore turned to look at Kasenhis.

"That giant dragon monster was created by two Death Eaters fusing three dragons together. One of the Death Eaters was Nios. I've already killed him. As for the other one, I didn't see his face clearly, but his skills were pretty good," Kasenhis said.

"Hmm… do you and Severus have any suspicions?" Dumbledore asked.

"Suspicions… Barty Crouch. Because tonight, not a single person showed signs of having taken Polyjuice Potion, and the only outsider who was absent was him, Barty Crouch. And the moment he left, the Death Eaters showed up again."

"I know Death Eaters come by the sackful, there's a whole pile of them, but this really is a bit too coincidental," Kasenhis explained.

"In that case, that's not bad," Dumbledore raised an eyebrow. "We've already locked onto a target. The next step is to keep an eye on him. The only pity is… Barty... In the Ministry of Magic, he's considered quite a capable official. It's a shame things have come to this."

"What's the pity?" Kasenhis asked.

"Sigh.. All of it. Whether he was corrupted and brainwashed by Voldemort, or whether he was killed and replaced by Polyjuice Potion, it's all a pity. But honestly, I think the chance of corruption and brainwashing is quite low. His son died because of Voldemort, so it's unlikely he'd side with him," Dumbledore explained.

"Then it would be Polyjuice Potion? In that case, he should still be alive, right?" Kasenhis asked.

"...Mm."

"Then go find him and save him!" Kasenhis said.

Grindelwald shrugged somewhat helplessly at that. "You still don't understand Dumbledore's heart of stone. If he were the one to choose, he'd probably let old Barty Crouch be tortured, and only step in at the very end, either when he truly can't hold on anymore or when everything has finally settled. That way, he can reap the maximum amount of Barty Crouch's gratitude."

"Uh… you really are something," Kasenhis glanced at Dumbledore. Seeing that the latter had no intention of explaining himself, he said helplessly, "You're really something, aren't you?"

"Like I said, if you pull out one nail, another will be driven in. Since there is already one victim, then let that victim help us protect the other innocent people," Dumbledore said.

"I don't understand. This is clearly Hogwarts's responsibility, yet you're pushing that responsibility onto an innocent person," Kasenhis shook his head.

"But you and I, if we search our hearts, can we really do it?" Dumbledore said.

"..."

Kasenhis fell silent.

A smile appeared at the corner of Dumbledore's mouth. He walked over and patted Kasenhis on the shoulder. "A pure heart is a good thing, but ideals always have to make way for reality, don't they?"

"I think it's us not being strong enough that makes us yield to reality," Kasenhis clicked his tongue.
