'Mission completed? 10 fate points?' Irwiz thought as his gaze stayed on the starry sky.
Before long, it had again been covered by the dense cloud and smog.
The sky's short life couldn't make but Irwiz feel as if fate had anything to do with it. Was the intervention of nature a result of perhaps congratulating him? The new servant's first accomplishment?
Irwiz didn't know.
Right now, all he needed to do was get away from this place. It would be bad if someone caught him killing another person after all.
Even while it was the slums, things could get hard for him if he was caught with a serious offense of murder.
Oh. Yes.
Thought Irwiz as he looked at the panel in front of him.
It read clearly...
[10 Fate Points granted. You may use them from the appropriate section.]
He also needed to find a usage for these fate points. He felt as if they were anything but ordinary. Perhaps, it could even pull in fate towards him making him basically a main character!
Or, maybe it could also be exchanged for items like the system novels and manhwas he read. Using those overpowered items, he could even hold magic like powers.
At the thought of magic, Irwiz couldn't help but drool inside his mind. This unknown and mysterious thing unavailable to him in his previous life had been his lifelong dream.
He had researched every way available to gain access to those supernatural things; alas, it was but an unrealistic dream.
If Irwiz had even the slightest chance to gain contact with it, he would've been happy to die!
'Section huh... whatever, I'll figure that out next time. For now, let's just get away from here.'
Just as Irwiz lifted his body up from the ground, a clear ding from the panel rang once again.
[New Mission: Return to the shelter.
Reward: 1 fate point.
Time Limit: Today
Punishment for failure: Unknown]
"Return?!" an exasparated shout came out from Irwiz's mouth.
Indeed, he had never expected fate to do something such sinister as this. It expected him to kill basically the benefactor of all the children, and then go back there?!
What did it expect? His death?!
'No way!' Irwiz knew for sure that returning there would spell his doom. What if the boss had other inhumane friends and they come to harass him?
Still, he couldn't help but feel an ominous dread coming from the word Unknown written after failure. Especially since it was written in scarlet red.
Was it... death? It surely wasn't so right? If so, it would've clearly written death..
'Still no way!' thought Irwiz firmly.
However, before he could start heading in the other direction, the ding from the system came once again.
[Time limit remaining for mission: 5 minutes]
'HUH??'
[4:59... 4:58]
Perhaps today was closer to ending than he thought.
Still, as Irwiz weighed his options, he couldn't help but feel the ominous dread coming from the Unknown written in red.
'Ah, fuck it' he thought as he immediately started running towards the shelter.
The boss and him had spent probably half an hour to full coming here, yet he had to return in 5 minutes!
At this point, even remembering the way was a challenge. Fortunately, he had made sure to note the general direction since he felt the shelter was an important place.
...
"Huff huff huffff" Irwiz was out of breath, huffing and puffing just like a dog as he immediately jumped down the flight of stairs.
It was a long jump. However, he didn't have any time after all.
Whoosh
His body made a whistling sound as it flew over the flight of stairs. It was a long jump but Irwiz had to take it.
During the jump, he unconsciously looked at the panel in front of him.
[0:05... 0:04]
BAMMM
With a loud bang he crashed and tumbled down the flight of stairs.
With a loud tuk, his back collided against the cement wall that had mold all over it.
Still, even with his head ringing and his body aching all over, it didn't stop Irwiz from immediately turning left haggardly before banging loudly on the wooden door with a bit of iron strips here and there.
BAM BAM BAM
[0:03... 0:02]
Irwiz's knocks were desperate and full of power.
After all, the impending doom he felt was growing stronger by the second. At the last few seconds, it had even increased exponentially. Irwiz felt as if divine judgement was coming to claim him.
Thus, he did everything he could.
Fortunately... the door creaked open at the last second.
"Huh? Who-"
[0:01...]
Before the 1 could turn into a 0, Irwiz shoved his entire body through the door.
[0:00]
[Mission completed. Granting 1 fate point.]
Now, he knew he had to provide his reasoning. The reason for both not returning with the boss, plus being so ragtag to return.
"THE WEREWOLF! THE WEREWOLF TOOK THE BOSS!!" Irwiz shouted with all his might.
Due to him being out of breath, the shout wasn't all that loud however.
Still, instantly, all the complexions of the kids seem to change drastically. Immediately someone lunged forward to close the door and lock it.
"Eek! Wha- what happened?!" a girl asked cowardly.
"The werewolf! I saw the werewolf!" in response, Irwiz could only keep muttering the same few words like an idiot. He kept clutching his head in his hand as he muttered.
"Hey! Hey! Get off me!!" a sound came from below Irwiz's body.
It was the girl who had opened the door for him. Grayish black hair with pale skin - it was Rera.
"Sorry!" Irwiz immediately rolled over her body before going to a corner of the room and then huddling up. He was clutching his knees and looking as scared as a rabbit in front of a wolf.
As all of the children was taken by fear and anxiety, only one boy stood up and reached Irwiz.
"Hey! Get ahold of yourself! What happened to the boss?!"
"The wolf... the wolf... the werewolf came out!" in response, only the shaking voice of Irwiz could be heard.
