Third Person POV
Temeria.
...
...
"We're here." Madara observed the troops in the camps preparing in the distance. Temeria's camp was the closest, organizing their morning positions. He narrowed his eyes as he stared at the enormous enemy camp.
"Isn't that that general...?"
Madara remembered the arrogant man from years ago. Edmar Kaelen. He had also been present at the meeting of kings. In any case, he turned his attention back to Ciri, who was looking at him.
"What do you intend to do?" she asked.
"Well... this will be our first battle against Nilfgaard. Let's do this the right way," he said.
She smiled as the two headed into the forest farther north, away from the battlefield and the scouts' eyes. There was a waterfall there, where they bathed and ended up having sex, since they hadn't been able to do so the previous night because their son had wanted to join them in bed.
After enjoying a few moments together, they put on the armor they kept stored within their own sealing spaces.
Ciri wore dark armor covered in glowing blue runes, something they had acquired in other worlds, and she herself had engraved the magical runes. On her back, she carried Zireael, a sword she had obtained in the future.
When they returned to Skellige, a dwarf had already forged it and, upon seeing her, simply handed it over to Ciri, as though he knew that sword had always belonged to her.
With her unique knowledge, Ciri strengthened the weapon even further, engraving it with the same blue runes that adorned her armor. She looked ready for a great battle.
Madara, in turn, wore his traditional red samurai armor. On his back, he carried his gunbai. He was the perfect image of Uchiha Madara.
Ciri smiled at him. "How about a competition?"
"You know I could win this easily."
"Well, you would if you summoned Susano'o and simply started cutting down the entire army. That wouldn't be fair, would it?"
"Fine. No large-scale techniques... at least not at the beginning."
"Deal. We get ten minutes without using them. After that, we start wiping out the entire army, got it?" Ciri proposed with a mischievous smile.
"Fine. I can beat you within those ten minutes," Madara shrugged, receiving a competitive look from his wife.
Madara merely shrugged. He took her hand, and in the next instant, Ciri activated her teleportation. The two appeared in the middle of Temeria's camp. The sudden flash made dozens of soldiers draw their weapons and point them at the pair. The two of them, however, simply calmly observed the battlefield ahead.
"Let's speak to that general first." Madara began walking through the camp while Ciri followed beside him.
"Who are you? State your names and explain why you're here!" one of the soldiers shouted, no longer able to endure the pair's complete indifference.
Madara ignored him. Then he released a small portion of his chakra.
Instantly, everyone around them dropped to their knees under the crushing pressure forcing them downward. Fear overtook the soldiers, but Madara and Ciri continued walking as though nothing had happened, and Ciri followed him.
The general, noticing the commotion, stepped out of his tent. The moment he saw the couple, his eyes widened in recognition.
"It's been a long time, General Edmar..." Madara said.
Dressed in his red armor, with the three-tomoe Sharingan gleaming in his eyes and the gunbai strapped to his back, his presence seemed even more imposing than it had years ago. And the man recognized him immediately.
"You... You're here..." the general whispered, as fear began to consume him.
"We're back after three years. Don't concern yourself too much with us. We just don't want you getting in our way. We'll deal with the Black Ones once and for all."
With those words, Madara continued walking. There was nothing else to say to the general beyond that warning.
The two passed by him and headed toward the edge of the camp. Everyone merely watched them, whispering among themselves as they wondered who those people were. Soon, however, their names began spreading, causing the soldiers to fear the man capable of summoning a blue giant that had destroyed an entire army years ago.
Madara already had his reputation and was just as talked about as before. Ciri, on the other hand, although everyone knew she was the Princess of Cintra, her abilities were not nearly as well known, perhaps a little more after what had happened at Aretuza... and no one knew what had truly happened in Novigrad. If they did, they would certainly swallow hard just from looking at her.
But Madara knew that after that day, her prestige would be no less than his. After all, she still hadn't displayed many of her abilities, as she would today.
Ciri and Madara left the camp. They could already see the enemy watching them from the other side of the battlefield, a place littered with corpses, scattered weapons, and crows feeding on fallen soldiers.
It was inevitable that those two figures would draw attention as they calmly walked in that direction.
"They won't take long to figure out who we are, will they?" Ciri asked.
Madara shrugged. "Probably."
From that distance, it was still difficult to recognize them. Besides, Madara's armor had only appeared at the end of the last great war in his adult form.
"All right, let's begin..." Ciri looked at him and gave him a mischievous smile. The next instant... she vanished in a green flash. When she reappeared, she was already on the other side of the battlefield.
The first thing she did was cut off a soldier's head.
Then she looked at Madara, stuck out her tongue, and vanished into the distance once again. Her body flickered from one place to another as she dashed across the devastated battlefield at incredible speed.
By the time Madara finally started moving, Ciri had already beheaded sixteen soldiers in mere seconds, and he had no intention of falling behind.
He appeared just two seconds later, in the middle of the enemy army. While Ciri continued appearing before her targets and relentlessly slashing their throats, Madara simply picked up two swords lying on the ground that had belonged to fallen soldiers and charged forward with one in each hand.
He was naturally faster than her. Within moments, he began massacring the soldiers, who barely had time to react, still confused by the intrusion of those two into the middle of such a massive army.
Ciri had some advantage thanks to her teleportation, appearing in front of her enemies to kill them before vanishing again. Madara, on the other hand, had to run to each target.
Even so... his speed was absurd, greater than Ciri's sword movements. Before long, a true competition had begun between the two.
On the other side, Temeria's camp remained completely silent.
All they could hear were the screams of the enemy army being massacred by only two people.
Madara... they had expected. But that woman who was supposed to be nothing more than a princess... no one had any idea she was also a monster. Even if the higher-ups of the kingdoms knew how many monsters of the Wild Hunt she had killed, along with the sorceresses at Aretuza, the common people knew nothing about her.
Meanwhile, on the enemy battlefield, chaos and fear began to spread.
The warriors hurriedly tried to draw their swords, but they continued to be slaughtered by two individuals who, in their eyes, were certainly not human. Their blades sliced through bodies as though they were nothing more than pieces of meat. Their heavy black armor seemed no sturdier than paper before those strikes.
Madara's two swords were enveloped in purple lightning, while Ciri's blade was surrounded by a brilliant green aura. The men could only scream before blood burst forth, followed immediately by the silence of death.
If you were chosen by them in the dance of death, you were already dead. It didn't take long before Nilfgaard's mages advanced, trying to stop the two of them. However, the pair responded in kind.
With magic.
One unleashed beams of green light that exploded among the mages, slaughtering them instantly, while the other simply spat flames into the middle of the army.
The Nilfgaardian soldiers, whose mission had been to invade Temeria, could only watch the massacre in utter terror. They wondered where those two people had come from as they continued killing without pause.
No one knew how much time had passed. But after about ten minutes, the soldiers began to flee.
That was when everything changed. The swords gave way to even greater magic than before, as though they had merely been warming up.
Long-range spells began to rain across the battlefield, annihilating hundreds, sometimes thousands of men with a single movement.
A blue skeleton emerged on the battlefield, launching enormous circular projectiles wrapped in black flames. They tore through the army, burning everything in their path. The black flames leaped from one soldier to another, spreading uncontrollably.
Men screamed in desperation as they were consumed by the fire.
No one could extinguish it, not even the mages.
At the same time, the woman raised her hand toward the sky. There were no dark clouds, and the sky was actually clear, but that did not stop bolts of lightning from crashing down one after another, exploding in the middle of the troops.
The bolts of lightning formed a web-like network, trapping everyone nearby. Hundreds of soldiers collapsed inside their own armor, killed by the electrical discharges.
The Nilfgaardian soldiers couldn't comprehend what was happening. One moment, they had been fighting for months against the enemy army, trying to break through Temeria's defensive lines.
The next, on this very day, at this very hour... their entire army was being massacred by only two individuals.
Some veterans shouted that the blue giant, now standing a little over twenty meters tall, was the same man who had destroyed an army years ago.
Those words made the fear among the younger soldiers grow even stronger. Like many of his comrades, one young soldier felt his heart turn to ice.
He immediately began running desperately, trying to escape that hell. He didn't want to end up like the nearly ten thousand men who had already been killed by those two people.
He could see a vast sea of flames roaring across one side of the battlefield, while his comrades had been reduced to nothing but ashes. Suddenly, lightning began crashing down from the sky once more, frying entire groups of soldiers.
All he did was run. He had to survive.
Then he was caught by surprise when the ground began to crack. Countless plants and roots burst from the earth, catching everyone off guard. In the next instant, they released a poisonous gas that killed everyone around the young man.
He inhaled the poison as well. Unfortunately... he couldn't escape.
It felt as though everything inside him was burning. Soon afterward, he fell to his knees.
As death drew near, the only thing he managed to do was pull out a small necklace bearing a hand-drawn image of his fiancée.
He was nothing more than a boy from the countryside, conscripted into this war against his will and prevented from marrying the woman he loved.
Now... he was there, dying.
He knew he would never see her again.
And so... his world faded away.
Madara had no idea about the story of the young man he had just killed. Just as he knew nothing about the stories of the tens of thousands of people he and his wife had just massacred.
There had been around twenty-five thousand men attempting to invade Temeria. Nilfgaard's army was not as large as it had been during the First War, mainly because it was now divided across three fronts instead of concentrating all its forces into a single battle, as it had done at the Hills of Sodden.
But Madara didn't care. Nilfgaard was his enemy. And that day's massacre was a message to the entire Empire. A message that would ultimately be in vain...
By the time he and Ciri finished eliminating the last survivors, only an hour had passed.
In that short span, around twenty-five thousand men had died. Madara ended the battle by creating an enormous forest. The plants grew rapidly, releasing a poisonous gas that covered the entire battlefield.
Meanwhile, Ciri wielded fire, summoned meteors from the sky, and brought down lightning on a massive scale.
Her destructive power was no longer far behind Madara's, as long as he didn't use the Complete Susano'o.
He knew they had killed people who had no choice. Soldiers who were merely following orders. Even prisoners from the Northern Kingdoms who had been held in the enemy camp and caught in the middle of the conflict.
But there was no other way to resolve everything quickly. They needed to send a message to the world. Two dead kings were not enough. They would end the war in a single day.
Madara dispelled the forest. The plants slowly returned beneath the ground until they disappeared completely.
He then turned his gaze toward Temeria's army. Everyone was watching the battlefield in complete silence.
Lightning and flames. Destruction and dust everywhere. From their point of view, the scene was enough to terrify anyone.
And certainly, none of those soldiers would have wanted to trade places with Nilfgaard's army at that moment.
"Let's go," Madara said, and Ciri simply nodded.
She took his hand. In the next instant, the two of them disappeared.
They would now head to Lyria and Rivia, where, according to the reports sent by his clones, there were still around fifteen thousand Nilfgaardian soldiers.
The men of Temeria remained there, simply watching.
There were around fifty thousand soldiers on that side of the battlefield. Despite their numerical advantage, those twenty-five thousand Nilfgaardian troops were far better equipped and trained, while the Temerians were, for the most part, nothing more than farmers. That was why Nilfgaard had believed it could take Temeria.
Even so... what they had just witnessed left everyone completely shaken.
General Edmar himself trembled with fear. What he had seen years ago had just happened again. But this time, in a completely different way.
It seemed even more merciless. He had seen the blue giant, but not in that colossal form capable of slicing through mountains.
Even so... in just one hour, two individuals had slaughtered twenty-five thousand men.
"Inform the king immediately."
That was the only order he gave.
The mages simply nodded, just as frightened, as they began transmitting everything they had witnessed to King Foltest.
Things were very different now from what they had once been. From that day forward, the ones who would dictate the rules of the Continent would be Madara and his wife.
And they were about to show the world the difference between power... and absolute power.
In Lyria and Rivia, everyone witnessed it.
Without warning, enormous masses of stone began rising toward the sky. One after another, they gathered in the air, forming a gigantic oval sphere.
The Nilfgaardian soldiers began to be pulled upward. Their bodies were crushed against the rocks as the colossal mass of stone continued to grow larger and larger.
