[Chapter Size: 2400 Words.]
Third Person POV
Skellige.
...
...
"We could have come here with a small boat, kid... there was no need for all this..." Geralt muttered.
"And miss the chance to test my new ship?" Madara answered Geralt.
"Whatever..." Geralt grumbled, while Yennefer approached him with a mischievous smile.
"Why do you still argue with Madara and his unique way of doing things?" Yennefer said in an amused tone, while looking beside Geralt at the spectacle in front of them.
Several clones were around the ship, each one performing a task: adjusting the sails or the oars to finally stop it in the middle of the sea.
Madara wanted to test his new ship and said they would sail using it to go to the medallion he had found with Ciri.
Since they did not have enough crew, as it would only be the four of them plus Dandelion — and Zoltan also wanted to go with them — Madara created countless clones.
Each one took the role of a sailor: taking care of the sails, the oars, the helm and even navigation. One clone shouted at another, trying to find the location indicated on the map.
Yennefer found all of that amusing, while Ciri laughed next to her original husband.
Madara simply let them sail, while Hjalmarr — who had given him the ship after losing a bet against the giant that Madara had returned to Undvik — was stunned to see Madara testing it with dozens of clones, without needing any crew.
Thus, he left a group of sailors, who were Hjalmarr's subordinates, nearly crying as their favorite ship was taken away.
They arrived at the location, while the clones were already taking care of the ship to stop it.
"Looks like we're here," Ciri said, ignoring Dandelion singing some stupid song.
"Do you want me to stop my spectacle in the middle of it?" Dandelion said before receiving a boot to the face from Zoltan, who also seemed fed up with the bard's songs.
Meanwhile, Madara went to the edge.
"I'll get the medallion and be right back," he said, ignoring the argument.
"Be careful not to touch it. Avoid that, please," Yennefer said seriously.
In the next moment, he jumped into the water, moving toward the bottom of the sea. When he reached the broken half of the ship, he grabbed the medallion with a cloth, without touching it directly, and returned to the boat.
"Here," he jumped out of the water and showed the medallion, casting a wind jutsu combined with fire element to dry it easily. And he was showing the medallion to Yennefer.
"It's like you said. It's a teleportation item. It will take us to the other side. If there is a Djinn, as you say, then it will take us to him," Yennefer said, a little surprised by Madara's accuracy; he had been right so far and would continue to be.
Even though she seemed suspicious about him knowing all of that, the boy always had some important information without explanation — and she knew he would never say how. So she let it go and didn't ask further questions.
"Alright, are you all ready? We need to form a chain through me. Touch me," Yennefer announced.
Madara and Ciri took a step forward. Geralt also came along, touching Yennefer's shoulder and one of her arms.
"I can't miss an adventure like this!" Dandelion exclaimed, while Zoltan, with little choice, also touched Madara's arm, with Dandelion leaning his shoulder against Madara.
Yennefer used telekinesis to make the medallion rise from the cloth Madara had brought and held it. In the next moment, they were all teleported from the ship, leaving the place completely empty — with the clones disappearing along with them.
"So cold!" Zoltan shouted in fright, as they found themselves on top of an ice mountain. The ship was hanging, held in place by a massive shard of ice that pierced its hull and kept it from falling.
"Take this," Madara said, throwing a fur cloak to Zoltan after taking it from the storage scroll, while Yennefer summoned another. Madara grabbed one more and tossed it to Geralt and Dandelion, who couldn't even speak because of the cold. He placed another on Ciri, while he himself didn't use warm clothing, as he was unaffected by the cold, creating a fire chakra aura around his body to keep warm.
"Alright, let's look for the other part," Yennefer said.
"Let me handle that," Geralt said suddenly. Madara looked at him and already understood, while Ciri pulled his hand. Clearly, Geralt wanted to give the two some time alone.
"Enjoy the view," was all he said, as Ciri led Madara to one of the ends of the ship, separating them from the others.
"I like the view," Ciri stopped at the edge of one side of the ship and said, resting the back of her head against Madara's chest, turning to face him with eyes shining with tenderness.
They had had a very long conversation the night before, and ended up making love after a small argument about Ciri still feeling a bit upset. She didn't attack Madara verbally, but she hated the idea of going through pregnancy without him by her side. In the end, she understood — she couldn't demand that. In fact, she herself had sparked everything: she had been the careless one and gotten pregnant with so many enemies surrounding them, and now one of them was after them.
They talked, and eventually came to understand each other. Ciri would spend some time with Yennefer at the temple, while Madara would hunt the demon on his own and Geralt would help him. He already had an idea of how to do it, since he had seen a bit of what that creature was capable of in The Witcher 3 game and had seen even more when it came to him personally.
He would have to deal with it one way or another — and not in the method Geralt used in The Witcher 3, challenging it in a game or riddle in a world created by the demon itself. Madara doubted the demon would be in the mood to play after having its body crushed by the Susanoo. Obviously, the creature wanted to kill him.
Madara just needed to kill it first — and he would. He was perfectly fine with that.
Leaving his thoughts, he felt Ciri hug him, while Madara watched the landscape ahead, enjoying the wind as she clung to him. They enjoyed that moment in silence. No one dared speak to them, knowing they were having an intimate instant.
Geralt returned afterward, and Madara and Ciri separated as they approached the group with something in his hand, wrapped in a cloth as well.
"Then the piece is here. We have both parts. Let's begin," Yennefer said.
"There's no reason to waste time. We just need to grab the Djinn and force it to grant the wish."
Saying that, Yennefer raised her hand, causing the two pieces to levitate.
"Let's do it in the middle of the ship. Madara and Geralt will handle it," she said.
Yennefer exchanged a look with Geralt while Ciri, Dandelion and Zoltan climbed the stairs to the ship's helm area, since the fight would be on the deck.
Madara couldn't help but look at Geralt. "When was the last time we had to deal with a problem together? I believe it was at Sodden, against that zombie creature..." Madara said.
Geralt nodded and remembered. They had practically never needed to fight side by side all these years, only when they first met. Madara had never needed help and when Madara faced a monster with Geralt, he usually needed assistance and did all the work himself.
"You're right. First and last," Geralt replied naturally.
"Hey, stay alert!" Yennefer called their attention as she joined the two pieces of the medallion. She began to pronounce words in Elvish and, quickly, the space around them started to tremble. It didn't take long for a flow of energy to explode from the two joined parts, forming the complete medallion. In the next moment, the energy attached to it, accumulating intensely.
"Now it's up to you. I need to open a shield field so it can't escape while you hold it. Ciri, I'd like you to help me," Yennefer said, running to the highest part of the ship, to the helm area. Ciri nodded, while Dandelion hesitated, grabbing a notebook to write — clearly he just wanted to record the spectacle that would happen there.
Yennefer and Ciri began to recite Elvish words rapidly, creating an invisible shield around the ship stuck in the ice.
The Djinn began to form — a pure, blue energy made of lightning. Bluish bolts spun around it, giving it an unstable, furious, living appearance.
Geralt quickly grabbed oil and began to rub it on his sword, before taking a potion. His eyes darkened, veins appeared on his face — he was ready.
The Djinn fully manifested, roaring with devastating force. The ship shuddered under the impact, and even the ice mountain began to crack, threatening to collapse at any moment.
"We have to bring it down fast!" Geralt said, concerned. He didn't want the fight to drag on — there, any mistake would be fatal given the amount of power a Djinn has.
When the Djinn looked at them, Geralt was the first to advance, striking it with his sword. The creature roared in pain and, enraged, raised a hand made of lightning, launching it toward Geralt. He dodged by rolling away from the hand, and before the lightning could hit the ship, a gigantic chakra hand grabbed it.
A colossal form began to rise behind Madara. A massive blue skeletal structure took shape, with ribs, spine and enormous arms — the Susanoo.
The other hand of the Susanoo grabbed the Djinn, crushing it and slamming it down, pinning it against the deck as the wood cracked. Madara held it down with brutality, while the Djinn screamed, trying to break free.
"You're hurting it?!" Ciri exclaimed, even shocked by the scene, Madara simply restraining the Djinn as if it meant nothing.
"I've never seen anything like this..." Yennefer stated, eyes wide.
Even Yennefer — who had been prepared to fight — fell silent, completely stunned.
The skeletal giant simply overpowered the Djinn, burying it into the hull of the ship, pressing its energy-made body against the shattered wood, while lightning burst in every direction.
"So..." Madara turned toward Yennefer, ignoring Geralt staring beside him. "What should we do with it now?" he asked, arms crossed.
Yennefer snapped out of her shocked state, took a deep breath and quickly descended the stairs back to the deck, beginning to chant a spell in Elvish. The skeletal giant responded, still keeping the Djinn pinned.
"It will grant a wish in exchange for us releasing it," Yennefer said, looking at Ciri. "Ciri, come stand by my side. Make your wish. Focus on what you want while looking at the Djinn. It will hear you."
Ciri stepped forward, looking at the creature Madara held crushed against the deck, pure thunder-blue energy, trembling and roaring in despair. She closed her eyes and wished.
"Done," Ciri announced.
The air trembled. Something had changed.
Madara felt it immediately. Strange. He felt something shift within his own spirit — there was something else, something touching his very soul. He looked at Ciri, trying to confirm if she had followed the agreement. But Ciri did not look at him.
Yennefer nodded and looked at Madara. He understood.
He raised both hands, dismissing the Susanoo, while Yennefer dispelled the shield around the ship. The Djinn was hurled upward, shooting like a blue streak into the sky, disappearing within seconds.
"Well... looks like it's over," Yennefer said, beginning to laugh. "That was weird. No difficulty at all. If I had known, I wouldn't have spent so much energy."
She watched the spot in the sky where the Djinn vanished.
"Well, let's go then," Geralt said, somewhat discouraged. He had used oil and potion for nothing, making him huff while Yennefer and Ciri laughed.
"That was amazing!" Dandelion said, looking at the Susanoo, which now faded into blue particles.
"So that's what everyone was talking about in the city the other day..." Zoltan commented, whistling. "Must have been quite a sight, now that I'm seeing that skeleton myself. You said there's something even bigger than that, right?"
Ciri laughed — but her expression suddenly changed. Her eyes widened. She had seen the future.
"The ice... we have to get out of here!" she exclaimed, pointing to the huge chunk of ice lodged in the middle of the ship, which was starting to crack.
In the next moment, the crack echoed through the ice.
"Too late," Madara said.
The ice exploded — and the ship began to plummet into the frozen abyss below.
Dandelion screamed and Zoltan tried to grab onto something. Ciri and Yennefer did the same, Geralt was sliding forward, but Madara quickly clasped his hands in a mokuton sign — and the wood of the deck began to grow around their legs, rising up their bodies, forming seats with belts made of roots that strapped them securely. As if they were in a vehicle.
The ship began to fall, tipping upside down, while everyone looked horrified. Madara was the only one who did not need the seat. He ran to the bow and leaped off the ship the moment it began to fall toward a massive ice mound.
Madara released the Susanoo again, completing its current final form, with four arms. In the next instant, he grabbed the ship midair — the impact dragged him backward, sliding down the snowy slope. The Susanoo sank into the snow, skidding, until finally stopping about fifty meters later.
The skeletal giant was larger than the broken ship itself, so it was easy for Madara to cushion the impact for everyone. If he had simply stopped the ship in place, the force would have launched the others forward, even strapped, breaking ribs and injuring them badly from the momentum.
Madara released the Susanoo after stabilizing the ship, embedding part of the wood into the snow and ice to secure it again using Mokuton. Then he stepped back onto the deck.
"Let's go," he said.
Most of them only looked at him — exhausted, stunned, some still shaking.
But they all knew that if he hadn't acted, they would be dead.
