Chapter 284 - Chapter 284 - Finding a Solution to the Pregnancy Problems.

[Chapter Size: 2200 Words.]

Third Person POV

Skellige.

...

...

The form of Susanoo roared as it attacked the two creatures, which were immediately disintegrated along with the entire warehouse, exploding amid screams and shouts coming from all over the city as the sound of the strike reached their ears and their feet became slightly unbalanced due to the small earthquake it created.

Amid the smoke, Susanoo was still above it, observing in silence with its two faces and blue-glowing eyes, motionless — standing there for the whole city to see.

"Hey, you've got to be kidding! Is that Madara himself? That's his power?!" King Bran, always optimistic, couldn't help but stammer at the sight of the blue creature.

"Among all of you, I've been to war. I can assure you that really is him," said Yennefer, frowning from another window toward the city.

"What else is he doing?" Ciri tried to get up from the bed to see better, but Triss stopped her.

"No! Don't do that!" the redhead said.

Geralt was astonished among them, as he had never seen that form of Susanoo. He had seen Madara fighting against an out-of-control Ciri before passing out, but never such a complete form as this.

Meanwhile, the city was terrified, with people screaming and hiding from the colossus. Men and guards wielded their axes but trembled near the warehouse, seeming to feel that the creature was watching them with its two eyes on each of its faces — one head facing forward, another behind.

In the midst of all the destruction, Madara stood at the center of Susanoo, where nothing had been affected. All that remained of the monsters was a paste of blood among the wreckage. He had exterminated the two creatures, considered high-level vampire beasts, with just one strike in an instant.

Madara quickly began to deactivate his mangekyou, and the giant lost energy, returning inside him, leaving only a few particles of chakra in the air before disappearing completely.

He sighed amid all that devastation, bent his legs, and shot away — there was nothing else to do.

He moved across the rooftops before landing, using the smoke to blend into the crowd of onlookers. If he leapt over them, they would notice his presence. He passed through several people until entering an alley, while all eyes remained fixed on the destroyed warehouse, waiting for any sign of the giant's return.

He left there and went directly to the castle, while Ciri already sensed his approach.

Yennefer stepped away from the window as soon as she saw one of the shadows running toward them, and Madara entered the place.

"Madara, what was that?" Ciri was the first to exclaim, stunned.

He looked at her with a small smile. "You're awake. How are you feeling?" he asked, approaching her.

"Not now, Madara! What happened? I couldn't see from the bed, but they're saying you summoned Susanoo!" said Ciri, worried, while everyone looked at him.

"What made you have to use that power?" Madara's clone asked, curious — even though he didn't need an answer.

Madara looked at Triss, Geralt, Yennefer, and Mousesack, while King Bran quickly left the room to see what was happening and calm the city.

"You know that, beyond monsters, there are other beings even more dangerous, don't you?" Madara began. "Beings far worse than monsters... some, even the ancient vampires and golden dragons, are no match for them."

"Something worse than ancient vampires and golden dragons?" Triss exclaimed, incredulous.

"Yes. From what I've just discovered, it's not enough to simply destroy the physical body of these creatures. They are shrouded in evil magic — darker than anything any dark sorcerer or necromancer could create. A category even worse than all of them..." Madara paused, staring at everyone. "I'm talking about a demon."

At hearing that, a chill ran down Triss's spine.

"What? That guy was here?!" Ciri exclaimed, astonished. She understood now what he was. It was the first time she had ever seen Madara so alert in her entire life — not even during the years in Cintra had she seen him like that. In that small town south of Temeria four years ago, when that man had spoken of them in public, she had felt flattered by the compliments about her and Madara as a couple, but she remembered Madara's reaction at the time — the look of his activated Sharingan, almost worried.

Later, he told her what that man really was. What had seemed like praise on stage had come from an abominable being. A demon. A creature that consumes human souls and makes deals to obtain them, since it doesn't possess the ability to simply suck them by force in any way. That's why it submits to contracts.

Geralt was also aware of this, as Madara had shared the information before. Vesemir hadn't seemed happy about it at all, and Madara had heard him muttering back then that he would rather not have known of the existence of demons. Used to dealing with monsters and horrors, he seemed troubled upon hearing about such a being.

"He wanted to make a deal with you?" Geralt asked in a serious tone, immediately understanding that it had something to do with Ciri. "Does this have anything to do with her condition?"

Madara seemed to read everyone's thoughts as he looked at Ciri, but then shook his head.

"No. He has nothing to do with Ciri's condition, but he tried to use her. He had information about my former clan and knew that women outside the clan would die along with the children if they became pregnant by Uzumaki men, since chakra cannot be inserted into the female body that way through the womb. He used that to try to manipulate me, just as he did with the Uchiha of the past, wanting me to do their work... or perhaps to take my soul. To me, it made no difference — he would have done both... But he said he could save Ciri."

Ciri straightened up in bed, her heart racing. "Don't tell me you..." she began, but Madara raised a hand.

"Let me finish, Ciri." He interrupted her and paused before continuing. "I refused, obviously. Then he tried to force me into a contract, attempting to touch my forehead. Obviously, it didn't work. I managed to destroy his body, but that didn't stop him from escaping. At least, he fled in spirit form."

Madara looked at everyone, his expression dark. "He said he would come back for revenge."

The silence that followed was almost suffocating. Everyone there was consumed by the same feeling — fear and apprehension at what Madara had faced.

"Madara, is everything going to be okay?" Ciri couldn't help but place her hand over her belly as Madara looked at her. His eyes activated the Sharingan and shifted toward the foal, whose horn was still glowing; he examined how the unicorn's magic was working and realized that Eira was helping Ciri on her own.

Madara gave a small smile, approached her, and kissed her forehead before placing his hand over hers on her belly.

"It's going to be okay. We'll protect the child. But first, I want to find a safe place for you, far from any danger during your months of pregnancy," he said.

"Something tells me you're not going to be with me," Ciri replied in an accusatory tone — and Madara only sighed.

"I'll have to hunt that demon, Ciri. It's better if I do it alone," he said, while she stared at him, defiant.

"No! You don't even know how to find him, do you?" she asked. Madara shook his head, admitting it.

"No, but I'm not alone. I'm sure Geralt, Mousesack, Yennefer, and Triss can help. And I also have a few leads," he replied, glancing at the people around him. The clone had already vanished by this point, leaving only Mousesack, Triss, Yennefer, and Geralt still in the room.

"I wanted you to stay with me," Ciri murmured, her voice trembling.

"Ciri, I think he's right this time," Geralt said. "I can't imagine how dangerous this will be for both of you. I believe in Madara, and if that demon is going to come after you, he'll try to take revenge... He already knows you're carrying a child — that only makes things worse. You need a safe place where we can look after you. I know one."

'Temple of Melitele?' Madara nodded, recognizing the place Geralt mentioned. It was the temple where Geralt's mother figure lived — the High Priestess in Ellander, Temeria.

"This isn't fair," Ciri murmured, tears in her eyes. She hated the idea of Madara leaving her side. "I can still defend myself!" she said stubbornly.

Triss approached and held her free hand on the other side of the bed. "Think about the baby, Ciri. You were willing to give your life for him — this is the best way to keep him safe," said the sorceress.

Ciri hesitated but eventually nodded, knowing they were all right. Her teary eyes turned to Madara. Hating to have to be separated from him — they had just gotten married, weren't they supposed to be living the best moments of their lives together? Why did he have to leave now?!

"You promise you'll be there when the baby is born? I want you there, Madara, and this isn't a request... I want you there when our child is born, I want our child to be embraced by his father!" she said, almost in a plea mixed with stubbornness.

Madara looked at her tenderly and crushed her lips with his. "Of course I will. We'll still have time to see all of that. After all, we have to solve the main problem first," he replied.

"Her condition... do you think it can be reversed?" Mousesack asked, stepping closer.

"I believe so," Madara said. "From what I can see, Eira is interfering with the chakra flow going into her body."

The foal neighed in response, as if confirming it. Madara observed everything with the Sharingan, watching the energies slowly dissipate.

"If she can replicate that magic, we can try to reproduce the effect," Yennefer said immediately. "Can I see what you see through your eyes?" she asked, looking at Madara.

He nodded, turned the Sharingan toward her, and transmitted the images of what he saw inside Ciri's body — between her womb and the chakra the baby was emanating.

"There's one more thing before we try to replicate it. Maybe she can do it, but there's an easier way for her not to have to keep performing this magic consciously all the time…" Madara said.

"And what would that be?" Geralt asked.

"I believe I know where there's a Djinn. It can grant wishes — right? Just like you two suspect one of them bound you together…" Madara pointed to Geralt and Yennefer, who looked shocked.

"You read our minds?" Yennefer asked, a bit suspicious.

"More or less." Madara shrugged, unwilling to give more details. He knew it from the books… "Anyway, maybe the Djinn can't completely modify Ciri's body to withstand chakra. But if it can make this magic enter her subconscious, then she wouldn't need to keep activating it all the time — we'd have to make it for Ciri what breathing is for her, effortless and constant," Madara suggested.

If Djinns could meddle with a person's emotions and mind, or even bind their spirit, it could help Ciri.

"Wait — you know where there's a Djinn? That's extremely rare!" Triss exclaimed.

"Actually, I had discovered it before she developed this condition," Madara began — though it was strange… too much of a coincidence, and his eyes fixed on Ciri's green ones…

'Is it the Elder Blood? Always showing Ciri the right path — somehow the universe knew she would have this problem and made her interested in a map that could lead to the solution?' Madara couldn't help but think; the Elder Blood had always intrigued him — it always seemed to shape the world around Ciri.

Anyway, he continued. "I was at sea when we saw half of a ship after finding it through a treasure map that Ciri had taken from that laboratory — the ship of a mage. I researched that mage; he was connected to a Djinn, but part of the ship vanished and was transported elsewhere. The key to the Djinn is in that second part of the ship. I can reach it if we retrieve half of a medallion I found on the wrecked ship," Madara explained, while everyone looked surprised and somewhat skeptical.

"So we can reverse the situation?" Ciri brightened up, a smile spreading across her face.

"Yes. And you'll have to come with me since we need to locate the Djinn and imprison it before making the wish," Madara said.

Everyone there felt a mixture of hope and apprehension — they were searching for a solution to the endless problems that kept arising in that world; something Madara was, in a way, already used to, given how many things constantly happened around them. But now, he faced it with greater urgency — after all, he was dealing with the future of his wife and their child.

Raccoon Here:

Regarding the earlier matter, yes, the Rinnegan could deal with him, but it's a solution much later in the story. I intend to finish him off quickly, since I want to make that part of Ciri going to the temple canonical, and also an excuse for Madara to travel alone — I want to write him exploring the world a little on his own.
