Third Person POV
Cintra.
...
...
The moment those words left that woman's mouth, Ciri immediately acted, catching the dragoness by surprise. She barely had time to react before Ciri had already grabbed her and disappeared with her, leaving only Madara there, along with a few people who had been at the location since that woman appeared flying, all equally stunned by the situation.
Madara merely sighed. It was just one more bizarre thing that could happen that day.
He disappeared the next moment before appearing in a remote area north of Kaedwen, near the mountains, a few dozen kilometers from where Ciri had destroyed that forest with her power when she had lost control.
Madara had always stated that, if Ciri ever needed to take a fight of extreme destruction somewhere, that region would be perfect so as not to affect any nearby city or kingdom.
As soon as he appeared, he saw an explosion coming from afar. Madara immediately performed a summoning jutsu, slamming his hand against the ground. First, he wanted to better understand that situation.
An enormous green dragon appeared before him, somewhat dazed from having been summoned so suddenly. He looked around in surprise before fixing his eyes on Madara and widening them.
"You... You appeared!" Ignavros exclaimed after so many years without seeing him, completely surprised.
"Ignavros. Tell me exactly what your queen is looking for here in the human world," Madara demanded before pointing ahead.
An enormous explosion of flames collided against a green glow, producing an even greater explosion when the two forces clashed.
"It's Queen Pyraethra! And isn't that your companion too?!" Ignavros murmured before his eyes widened even further when he realized who the owner of that other green energy was. "She's fighting Queen Pyraethra on equal footing?" he asked, incredulous.
"Answer my question," Madara demanded.
Ignavros turned his attention back to him cautiously. The dragon was much larger than Madara remembered. After his demonstration in the Valley of Dragons back then and after entering into his contract with Madara, Ignavros had been sent directly to the upper regions of the Valley of Dragons, where he received training and even better food.
That had greatly accelerated his growth. There were some special trees in that region whose fruits granted dragons greater growth speed and strength. That was also why the Golden Dragons, besides possessing magic far more powerful than that of the other dragons, dominated the others so easily. They occupied a privileged position within dragon society itself and had access to the best resources.
Ignavros turned back to Madara. "She said she was going to look for you. She wanted to find out just how strong humans really were. She did that about a year after our last conversation, but she couldn't find you. She came back saying that humans were still weak. Then she started looking for you again about six full moons ago when she sensed something; she said she had a feeling that you had appeared again and, from the looks of it, she finally found you this time after all this time..."
"We did return, yes, about six months ago, but we were doing other things on another continent. We only came back to this one a few weeks ago, if you want to know," Madara explained.
Ignavros nodded, but another explosion erupted in the distance, devastating the entire region.
A section of the mountain simply split apart and began to collapse under the clash between the two forces. Flames exploded from the Dragon Queen's side, while Ciri's green energy disintegrated everything it touched.
"How is your girlfriend so strong!?" Ignavros asked, turning his attention back to the fight.
"Wife. When you say companion, I feel like you're treating us like animals, even though the word is also used by us humans like that..." Madara corrected.
Ignavros nodded, remembering very well how the Dragon Queen used to refer to others.
"Did she really have that much potential? Although I suppose the female you would choose wouldn't be ordinary...?" Ignavros asked, still shocked.
He had not expected that little girl, with whom he had exchanged a few words far friendlier than those he had exchanged with Madara back when he still hated serving as his mount, to have become strong enough to fight the Dragon Queen on equal footing.
Madara would have said that Ciri was even more powerful and was merely holding back, had he been able to hear the thoughts of the dragon before him.
"Stop referring to her like that... Anyway, what exactly is your queen looking for from me?"
"I already told you. She wanted to test just how strong humans really were. She saw how weak the others were, but still wanted to test you after you demonstrated so much power in the Valley of Dragons back then. Surely, the Elders became somewhat concerned about a possible war or human invasion if all humans were that strong."
Ignavros paused briefly. "But I explained that it was only you. I also made it clear that I had never encountered another human that strong while we were searching for you back then."
"Speaking of that, where is that winged friend of yours?" Madara asked.
For a moment, he ignored his wife's fight against the Dragon Queen. Madara had ordered Ignavros to invade a mountain where a large group of dwarves lived after they tried to obstruct Madara, Ciri, and Geralt's path when they were passing through to reach the other side of the continent after Kaedwen.
Madara had made that dragon, after subjugating him in Redania through genjutsu, enter the dwarves' vault and remain there as a response to the greedy dwarves. However, that was not supposed to last long, only about a month. After that, he had never asked Ignavros much about the matter.
"Vornaxis is still there," Ignavros replied.
Madara raised an eyebrow.
"You'd think he would've gone looking for you if he never came back. Why would he still be there?"
"He liked the gold," Ignavros said, looking somewhat lost.
Vornaxis was the older dragon master who had been humiliated by Madara along with Vornaxis that night...
The two had descended into the human kingdom seeking revenge after what Madara had done in the Valley of Dragons, only to end up being humiliated even further. While Vornaxis ended up going to the dwarves' mountain under Madara's orders, Ignavros was forced to sign a summoning contract after begging for mercy.
That had made his life unbearable at first. Ignavros was forced to follow Madara's orders, otherwise he would be killed, and he continued to be summoned repeatedly at random moments. He could not do anything about it; whether he was flying, eating, or sleeping, he would simply appear in front of Madara in an explosion of smoke. Even when he tried to return home, he would disappear and reappear whenever Madara decided to summon him, something that deeply irritated him back then, unable to return to the Valley of Dragons, knowing that he could not fight against the human.
But after discovering exactly what Madara was capable of, fear began to replace his irritation. After all, he had already been shocked that Madara could deal with dragons, but his true strength was far beyond anything Ignavros could have imagined; he could even destroy the Valley of Dragons himself! He had even warned them of this after the incident and was asked by the Elder Dragons, the Golden Dragons, and the Queen to tell them everything he knew about Madara.
Anyway, it was only after Madara and Ignavros fought together back when Gaunter O'Dimm began controlling the dragons that Ignavros finally started to truly accept him.
Furthermore, his status among the dragons changed greatly. Even though he was an ordinary dragon, because he had a summoning contract with an extremely powerful human, he received privileges that his species of dragon would never have had. In the end, he had benefited far more than he had suffered from that entire situation.
He also knew about Ciri's powers from back then, as she had fought him the first time, and the young human had proven irritating with that teleportation of hers, but he also seemed to have greatly underestimated her. After all, who could fight the Dragon Queen as an equal?
"You gave me some information, but you still haven't answered my question," Madara said for the second time, raising an eyebrow.
Ignavros seemed far too distracted. He quickly corrected himself, shaking his head before turning his eyes back toward the Dragon Queen fighting in the distance.
"She... She believes that, because you're such a powerful human and she still has no offspring, she could have a hatchling with you to become the next Dragon King," Ignavros finally explained.
Madara merely sighed. "What is wrong with that dragoness... and can hybrids even be born from your kind? I mean, you can see that she has a human body, but would she actually be able to carry a child conceived with a human?" Madara asked more out of scientific curiosity than any actual interest.
After all, together with Mousesack, he had created two versions of the book about dragons, and that certainly was not something he had heard from the Elder Dragon back then.
"To begin with, only Golden Dragons can reproduce with humans, since they can transform into human bodies. We've heard of male dragons who impregnated some human women, but they couldn't endure it and ended up dying along with the child still inside them."
"However, there has never been a situation where a dragoness became pregnant by a human. After all, all our females seek powerful males, and no human has ever managed to defeat a dragon. Because of that, they clearly don't seem interested in carrying their offspring, especially the females of the Golden Dragons, who are so elitist and proud by nature."
Madara was not surprised. Golden Dragons certainly had quite large egos.
"Well, from what I've already seen, your queen has strange tastes," he said.
"You can't blame her for that," Ignavros said. "She is the Dragon Queen of this era, which means her position cannot be challenged by any other dragon. After all, the strongest is the one who leads all the superior dragons, while we ordinary dragons merely obey the hierarchy. And no female will mate with a male weaker than herself. So that leaves her in quite a lonely position," he said with a certain irony before turning his eyes back to Madara.
"Perhaps she has finally found someone. That's why she wasn't swayed by the protests of the dragons who thought she might possibly be able to reproduce with you and decided to go after you. No one could try to do anything against her, after all, she is far more powerful than even the strongest Golden Dragon among us."
"Well..." Madara crossed his arms despite his grimace as he watched another part of the mountain being destroyed by the impact between the two. "My wife doesn't seem willing to accept that idea," he said ironically as the explosions continued to resonate throughout the area.
Meanwhile, in the middle of an enormous hole blasted into the mountain, a woman with her clothes slightly torn at the shoulder smiled before beginning to laugh.
"Oh, you certainly are dangerous," she said, still buried among the rocks as she watched someone enter the cave created by the impact of her own body.
Ciri advanced with her fists clenched and her eyes glowing an intense and dangerous green. The two had not even had time to talk. Ciri had simply brought the dragoness to that place and immediately started attacking her.
"I didn't imagine that alpha would keep such a fierce female by his side."
"Stop calling him that! And stop treating me as if we were animals!" Ciri snarled.
"Don't be so angry. I'm only telling the truth. Well... to control and dominate a strong female like you, his strength must be even greater than before," she said with a certain admiration.
"Why this? Why did you just show up with these crazy ideas? My husband isn't some breeding bull meant to go around producing offspring!" Ciri said angrily.
The only siblings Aren would ever have would come from her own womb. She still hoped to give Madara many children, just as she had seen in that vision a long time ago, when they were about to get married. On that occasion, she had seen not only Aren, but also a girl who looked very much like her, despite possessing some of Madara's features. Her eyes were green and her hair was platinum. She was beautiful as she appeared getting irritated with her older brother following her like a shadow.
"Come on, human. Be reasonable. The only thing I want is offspring to make the dragons more powerful."
"As if that's ever going to happen! And don't call me human! My name is Ciri, and my husband's name is Madara. Remember that!" Ciri said, full of anger.
"Ciri... Very well, I think I'll remember. My name is Pyraethra, since we're going to share the same male..."
She did not even have time to finish. Pyraethra received a punch right in the middle of her face before everything exploded. The Dragon Queen went flying out through the other side of the mountain and crashed into a forest below.
Ciri had increased her strength even further through her own energy, raising the strength levels of her body. She was not emotionally hurt, not with sadness or something deeper like hatred, she was extremely angry at that moment and allowed her power to increase the strength of her body to a level where even Madara would not be able to deal with her easily.
And how could she not be angry? That woman, some fifth-rate Dragon Queen, had simply appeared out of nowhere thinking that Madara should agree to give that dragoness a child.
And besides, just imagining a dragon carrying Madara's powers was already somewhat concerning.
Ciri knew that Madara was nearby and hoped he would not interfere in that battle. She would give that Dragon Queen a beating she would never forget and put her in her proper place, to the point that she would never bother them again.
Immediately, Ciri teleported away from there and charged at maximum speed toward where the Dragon Queen was.
Pyraethra was still trying to recover when she saw an enormous meteor of green light coming toward her.
The energy exploded against her before devastating an enormous part of the forest, turning everything to dust. The Dragon Queen went flying once again, passing through the destruction before crashing into another part of the mountain. She brought a hand to her lips and saw blood on her fingers.
"If I hadn't created a force field, I would've been disintegrated too..." Pyraethra murmured amid the rubble.
She could not help but look with a certain fascination at Ciri, who was already coming toward her again, while her own eyes began to glow a deeper crimson red.
"Very well. You are powerful. I think you're even more powerful than Madara was back then, when he appeared years ago. Very well... Let's see how far that power goes."
Pyraethra immediately began releasing her strength, using an enormous amount of fire magic.
She exploded forward, charging directly against Ciri's emerald light. The clash between the two forces was even greater than before, disintegrating the entire area of the forest that had not been affected by the previous attack.
All the surrounding mountains began to tremble before the clash of the two energies.
Ignavros could not help but look worried beside Madara in the distance, with the shockwave passing over them, Madara stood there with his arms crossed, feeling the wind moving his hair.
"Shouldn't we stop them?" Ignavros asked Madara.
Madara stared at him before shaking his head. "If you want to do that, go ahead. Get between those two," he said mockingly.
Ignavros quickly shook his head. Getting between those two forces was an invitation to certain death. Madara could do it, but even he would have difficulty, and he would only interfere if things escalated into something too dangerous. And Ciri would not be the least bit happy if Madara interfered in her battle, where she clearly wanted to beat another woman senseless, and it was better not to get involved in a fight with a woman who wanted to mark her territory.
Madara could imagine something in Ciri's mind like: 'Keep your eyes off my husband, you bitch! I'm going to punch you until your face becomes a bloody pulp.'
So it was better to intervene only when things truly started getting serious.
