Just when Max was flying through the air...
"And where exactly do you think you're going?"
A cold voice rolled through the sky like thunder, and Max's expression changed at once.
Before he could even turn toward the source of the voice, the space around him shook violently as golden light burst out overhead.
Ten enormous rectangular constructs came plunging down from the sky at terrifying speed. Each one looked like a massive golden slab forged out of condensed holy energy. They stood hundreds of meters tall and were covered in glowing runes that pulsed with overwhelming pressure.
They didn't fall at random either. Instead, they landed around Max in a perfect formation, surrounding him from every side and sealing off the space between them.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The barren land trembled as dust and shattered rock flew into the air, and the ten golden slabs drove themselves deep into the ground.
In an instant, Max found himself trapped inside a sealed area.
