The sounds didn't fade as Cass remained in the bath. Whoever was getting beaten was probably in terrible shape. Cass, feeling a little calmer from the sweet scent of the bubble bath, the soft glow of the candles, and the option to read, finally got out of the bath.
He actually felt a little ridiculous for his reaction, honestly. He was embarrassed.
How embarrassing was it for him to add, once more, to the dramatic stairwell confessions? God, who the hell heard him? The whole mansion? He wasn't going to be able to look anyone in the eye when he got out of the tub. Tomorrow would be a damn nightmare.
It was made worse by the fact that Lucian, of all people, was right. He had overreacted, only a little bit, and he should see where Edgar was coming from. Did it hurt any less? No, but if he didn't at least hear him out Cass would be even more upset with himself than with Edgar.
