Eventually, the conversation got turned back to the serious topic but the tension was gone. Cass didn't have to worry about Lucy fleeing either because he had both Cass and Edgar on his lap still.
Was Cass the colour of red he didn't want to be? Yes. Could he leave the man's lap now? No.
He'd tried already and a low, rumbling growl had been accompanied by a sharp glare from a predator that Cass had seen eat a man before. Did he get a tummy ache after and significantly take away from the terror factor of what he had done? Also yes, but not enough that Cass forgot that he had actually done that.
So, the tension was gone, Cass was now grumpy that he was stuck in Lucian's lap, and Lord Ridgewood was still in his same spot, hadn't moved, and Edgar had his hand on the back of Cass' neck, playing with the hair at the nape of his neck gently.
