Chapter 429 - Chapter 428: Devouring Haidai, Destroying the Temple

Hum—hum—hum!

In an instant Lu Jun stepped forward; his figure flashed above the Athenian citadel, high and lofty, looking down at a massive black vortex below.

Haidai's black, ink-dark form had its upper half exposed above a dark swamp; its single horn pointed straight to the sky. As for the demon Mo Fan, he was almost completely submerged and about to sink into the Dark Plane.

"Before me, who dares call themselves a god of death?!"

The Emperor spoke coldly, and behind him the shadowed Nether-realm blossomed open — the underworld gaped, a howling, biting wind rose.

Wuuuu!

The heavens darkened completely; night fell. The pitch-black canopy of sky fell like a massive shadow from above, swallowing the firmament inch by inch until heaven and earth blurred together — like a sun swallowed by a celestial hound — and a terrifying devouring force burst forth.

Haidai could not move; it struggled desperately in fear, its body trembling yet still unable to escape the swallowing black curtain.

Everyone was petrified. This was no simple dark canopy — this Emperor had opened the gate to the Nether-realm and was about to swallow a corner of the magic world whole.

This maneuver was the ascended form of the Hell Furnace.

But compared with what Lu Jun had previously unleashed, the power amplified by the Nether-King's station was in a different league altogether. The old Hell Furnace could devour a hundred-zhang radius in one breath; this sky-swallowing was many, many times beyond that.

Lu Jun looked down at Haidai with icy detachment. He wasn't only here to save Mo Fan — he had eyes on the corpse-lord as well.

A fallen Greek death-god contained concentrated death-source inside its body. If the Ancient King Armor-Robe swallowed it, its primal force would rise another notch; the leftover bones could serve as prime material for producing super-tier curse matter.

This was a fierce beast fallen from an Sub-Emperor rank.

And Haidai was the Dark King's watchdog — it fit the character perfectly.

"No good! We can't let the Undead Emperor devour Haidai; if He does, He will only grow stronger."

The super-tier mages on Parthenon finally reacted. From deep within the temple, pillar after pillar of grand magic shot skyward — each a forbiddingly mighty spell — the power of forbidden incantations.

This was Parthenon's long-accumulated strength, but by sheer numbers it was small; compared with the seven Archangels of the Holy City and the dozen-plus Archspellcasters of the Holy Tribunal, it was far fewer.

There was no choice: the Divine Soul had been missing for years, and with it the Twelve Holy Souls were lost as well. The Wentai incident had struck Parthenon grievously; its vigor was wounded, nearly dropping it from the ranks of the Eight Great Powers.

Normally, the goddess controls the Divine Soul and has the authority to commission twelve Holy-mages, forming her own core team — enough to contend with the other seven major powers.

Those twelve Holy Souls correspond to the twelve principal gods of Greek myth — Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Apollo, and so forth — each Holy-Soul bestowing its wielder with Forbidden-Spell tier power.

They were the counterpart to the Holy City's seven Archangels — Michael, Raguel, Gabriel, Sariel, Remiel, etc. — the angelic Holy Souls drawn from the Western scriptures.

Outside the mainstream there were rare, independent Holy Souls — for example, Asharuiya's Fallen Angel soul and Haylon's Nether-King Hades soul.

Soon Haylon and the other three great hall lords of Parthenon thundered toward Lu Jun, each unleashing forbidden spells. Star-radiance streamed a thousand miles; magical energy crashed like an ocean, striking the mountain range with the sound of collapsing mountains and raging seas.

More than that, nearly ten thousand high-level mages of the temple organized under the High Matron's command, arranged into phalanxes; two or three hundred super-tier casters formed formal units, providing ranged support to the forbidden magi.

Now that the Undead Emperor had appeared, life and death hung in the balance. By human warning standards this was the deepest black; all of Greece mobilized to respond. Factional squabbles were set aside.

Haylon boomed, "You fiend, don't think you can afflict the mortal world — evil undead shall shatter beneath Parthenon's holy ground."

Lu Jun's mouth curled in a mocking smile. Facing the tidal destructive force of their forbidden spells, he showed contempt. With a sweep of his sleeve, vast might poured forth.

The spatial star-sphere traced out; the void carved a deep chasm out of nothing, running a thousand li long and wide as an abyss, studded with countless silver motes — fragments of shattered space.

The whole looked like a resplendent Milky Way splitting the battlefield in two: on one side Lu Jun, on the other Haylon and the rest. Though physically close, the feel was of leagues apart.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Forbidden power after forbidden power — a rainbow torrent of spells — surged and crossed the void chasm, only to be swallowed silently by chaotic eddies; like rivers hitting an impassable gorge, the torrents were cut off, and not a trace of their force reached the Emperor.

Then Lu Jun's eyes flashed. He threw a punch an endless burst of nether-glory detonated.

Thud! Thud! Several great roars echoed through the Greek sky.

Haylon and the forbidden spellcasters were driven skyward by an unseen force, hurled like meteors in reverse, swift as lightning. In a moment they smashed through the firmament, and none could tell where they were hurled to.

Parthenon's magic seals dimmed; peaks were leveled and thrown into powder that rained across the sky.

Many mages trembled before the Undead Emperor's supreme might.

"Am I evil? You are not worthy."

The Armored Emperor spoke coldly. He raised his hand and poured every last bit of effort into the relic — the Triangular Dimensional Realm. A dull silver pillar shot into the heavens, myriad pale lights rained down, and that vast, terrible image was projected high over Europe.

In that instant, every person across Europe stared up in shock. No matter where they stood, they could clearly see this three-dimensional scene from every angle.

It was the series of events that had taken place at the Parthenon, displayed like a vast mirage.

Scene after scene unfolded, exposing the hideous faces of Parthenon upper-level figures such as Dulank and Merola, tearing away the holy façade the Parthenon had used to deceive the world.

Twisting truth and reversing right and wrong

Framing innocents for their own selfish gain

Persecuting an innocent pair of siblings just to bury their crimes—

And it even exposed Izisha's entire scheme. To obtain a divine soul, she had not hesitated to murder four Goddess Candidates. Everything unraveled the moment the Undead Emperor arrived—one strike, instant annihilation, satisfying beyond measure.

Lu Jun had been there personally. He remembered every face clearly. Since they dared to smear his name, he would repay them a hundredfold—by destroying the entire Parthenon!

Suspended high above the heavens, Lu Jun's eyes flickered with strange, sinister light. His Mind-Stellar Universe ability burst forth, every trap he had prepared over the past month erupting simultaneously, gifting the Parthenon and the Holy City with a "grand present."

Just as Dulank, Merola, Siso and the others were trembling in fear and shame—

Suddenly, Siso's mind exploded. A dark haze surged across his spiritual world, rapidly spreading, coating his soul with a gray, distorted shadow. A twisted, demonic silhouette replaced his own will, and all of his suppressed emotions, desires, and vices burst free.

He suddenly lunged at a Parthenon maid who served under Izisha's direct command. With horror still frozen on her face, he shattered her spell-casting and ripped open her clothing.

"You filthy whore! I've hated your fake holiness for a long damn time!"

Soul-Seizing Mind Control · Hidden Shadow!

For an entire month, Lu Jun had subtly been influencing Siso, planting a hidden seed of corruption. Now, amplified a hundredfold by the intense negative emotions pouring from the ancient emperor's armor, it transformed into a terrifying mental plague.

One infects ten.

Ten infect a hundred.

"Siso, what are you doing!?"

"Damn it—Afar, you've gone mad too!?"

The high-level and super-tier legions on Goddess Peak roared in fury. Nearly half of the members had fallen into madness, slaughtering each other while shouting out all the vile acts they had long buried.

Even Merola and Dulank, pale with shock, felt an uncontrollable impulse surge from within them And in a global broadcast, the two of them began biting each other in madness.

That's right—Lu Jun's limit was projecting the mirage across all of Europe.

But civilians had smartphones.Recordings spread instantly. Every explosive scandal of the Parthenon was broadcast across the entire world.

It was a nightmare—turning the mortal realm into a purgatory.

Lu Jun's mental plague operated on its own rules—able to auto-target and distinguish evil.

Only those with corruption in their hearts would fall.

Truthfully, his standards were set very low.

He even spared many mages whose crimes were severe enough for ten-year prison sentences.

Even so, nearly half of the Parthenon was infected, Showing just how rotten they truly were.
