Using one small scythe and one shortsword, Zypher took a step and went face to face with the Burnt legion.
The one whole group was divided into two, as one approaches him from the back, the other runs after him.
A complete pincer tactic, where one does not have anything to do but fight and die to either the ones behind him or in front of him.
Using the scythe, he took one head and used the shortsword as he slashed around. Taking off heads and cutting limbs is what he is doing, and he is doing it well.
As he pulled the scythe to one, it lodged its hand to lock the scythe in, giving Zypher no time to react, only to find out that Zypher took his hands off, taking another scythe from his hand and chopping him off completely.
As he took the other scythe, he threw the Charity Shortsword, and while he did, he hacked one on his left and right. He then ran towards the thrown sword which hit a Burnt.
Using the shortsword, he then latched the scythe onto the handle, and then used his skill.
"Boundless Skip!"
He jumped up, pulling the sword out of the Burnt, and pulling it to the tattoo in the back of his right hand, lighting up one ray on the seven rays of the circle in his hand.
Looking at the rock that he saw earlier, he made sure that he will be able to land safely in there.
Seeing that he came far away, he looked back to the Burnts who were chasing him earlier, and saw that they stopped at a certain distance before the rock.
Laughing while gliding in the air, Zypher knew that he had passed this test with flying colors! He escaped an encirclement and now, he can recover atop the huge boulder.
Yet his joy was stopped momentarily.
ROAR!
A sudden roar came, and when he looked up, he saw a Zombie Wyvern.
Well, not a Zombie, but a Burnt.
It is flying above his head, circling around the boulder he was sitting.
Before he can think of anything, another Burnt Wyvern appeared near the boulder.
In fact, it came from the cave behind the said boulder.
"Uhmm? Hello?"
He waved his hand when he said hello, and almost acted cute, which confused the Wyvern.
...which in fact caused her to be mad and attack Zypher on the spot.
Yes, what Zypher is sitting on right now, is not a boulder, but an egg.
Dragons, as many knows, lays their eggs to produce an offspring. And there are many types of nests fof their eggs.
For example, a Fire Dragon will have their eggs near lava, or a crater. Water Dragons will put it into deep sea currents where no one can get it, but also make the dragonling become stronger by overcoming the currents.
Wyverns are a type of dragons.
And now, as Zypher was standing above the said boulder, he remembered a certain type of Wyvern that uses this technique to: first, hunt prey - as they eggs looks like boulders so that many will think it is a good spot to rest, but they will be attacked; second, to camouflage and protect the egg from harm - as rocks protect even the outer shell of it; and third, to make the young Wyvern grow strong by destroying the said boulder.
The Noob Killer: Horned Wyvern.
It got it's name from the way it kill players who do not know how to tread carefully in adventuring. As the Horned Wyverns hide from their prey as they use the boulders to arrive at their blindspot, it can kill many unsuspecting prey.
There were too many people who fell to this kind of ploys, and it shows how deep the game's AI is.
Well, Zypher is the noob in this scenario. He already knows it, but still forgets it.
That was when the attack from a Burnt Horned Wyvern came. The one below jumped on him, but Zypher was Faster.
Boundless Trek.
He stepped up, and dodged the incoming attack, and using the next step to hit the wyvern's head, crashing it to the boulder/egg it was protecting.
As it saw that the egg was hit, the one flying almost immediately flew down, but that was what Zypher was waiting for.
Boundless Stomp.
By stomping on the ground, he created a shockwave enough to stun the two wyverns, adding the destruction of Boundless Trek, and the damage of Boundless Skip's final phase, which also hits the ground made a crowd control of five seconds and additional damage to the two.
By using the Boundless Series, he created some combination that can help him fight or escape some of the worst predicaments he have.
And that's not all, he also now has time to kill the Burnt wyverns.
Burnt, are like zombies, with skeletons, but their flesh are burnt, and not rotting.
And their weakeness? Just like other zombies, is cutting their heads off.
Which is.
... a bit difficult for the current Zypher.
He attacked the one who lunged at him when he stepped on the boulder.
Using his small scythe, he caught one of its horns and jumped to the nape. Feeling this, the wyvern tried to move, but was unable to because of the duration of the stun to them.
Zypher, with all his might, slashed down the neck, but what met him was a solid bone that bounced his blade off.
Charity Dagger, has a triangular blade that makes it easier to thrust and easier to pull out if needed. When he upgraded it to Charity Shortsword, it has now a pentagonal blade, the tip for stabbing and thrusting, and the side for slashing and cutting.
While having the same skills, Charity Shortsword now has more function, and is better in use, but what made this harder for him is that he has no skills for the blades.
He has Stab, Triple Stab, and Lightning Stab, but nothing for slashing, cutting or slicing.
And so, Zypher can only use stabbing while using the weapon.
And this was, by far, the hardest ordeal he faced, and the most frustrating one.
He decided to be prepared, but all preparations done are invalidated.
But that's why they call him "brain".
Not genius, not smart, not wise, not anything else.
Because in the brain, there are many things that happen, but all comes to one outcome.
And the outcome, is victory.
Taking out Charity Shortsword, he decided to make another attempt.
Ability: Weak Point Exploitation.
Seeing the Burnt Wyvern below him, he saw that aside from the heads, he saw some things he can exploit, to make his life easier.
"Boundless Pace."
With one step, he arrived at the Wyvern's feet. Rotten flesh may be in there, but attacking it clearly shows the importance of feet.
"Lightning Stab."
With one stab, the feet of the wyvern crumbled like a cookie that was dipped in milk for a minute.
There were other pieces that flew, but Zypher managed to make the Wyvern fall on it's side.
Using another Pace, he then attacked another feet, but the wyvern dodged it by flinging itself forward.
But that did not stop him.
Using the momentum, he used Boundless Boost to step again and arrived at the right wing of the wyvern.
With one stab, he pierced through the joint, rendering the wing and arm useless, and making the wyvern fall on it's right side.
And with that, Zypher used the next Pace to attack the jaw.
With one slash, he destroyed the mandible, and stabbed the neck a few times, killing the wyvern.
[Congratulations!]
[Title Obtained.]
[Lesser than One.]
[Requirement: Defeat a Lesser Dragon by being Level 1.]
[Effect: Damage to any Reptilian, Amphibian or Avian is increased to 100% when your level is lower than them.]
This is a good title for Zypher.
Being level 1 means that he can always deal 100% damage to lesser dragon types.
But also restricting as it only affects dragon types.
But, that was not all.
[Congratulations!]
[Title Obtained!]
[One Dead.]
[Requirement - As Level 1, kill an undead Elite.]
[Effect - Damage to Undeads are 100% more effective while you are weaker than them.]
Weaker.
Almost everyone looks at this word as a flavor text, but they don't really understand the word at all.
It's not just the level, or statwise, but the power that one can release in one strike.
It is true that Zypher is weaker, because of his level and stat, but in this scenario, with his skills and everything, he is the hunter, and not the prey.
But, he also needs to hang on his thread to be able to keep himself as the hunter.
Like today, that he still has one more wyvern to kill, who is swooping down at him.
Readying his shortsword, and the last two stacks of Boundless Pace and Boundless Boost, he grabbed Charity, waiting for the Wyvern to be in his range, and kill it once he fought.
But, that didn't happen.
BANG!
An artillery rocket hit the wyvern and lodged it to the nearby sands before exploding.
A red magic circle then appeared above the said wyvern, and a meteor fell down, while another appeared beneath the wyvern, black in color, and black chains held it into place.
Zypher sighed in relief, but what happened next gave him a shock.
One punch was sent to his abdomen, sending him flying towards the wyvern.
An arrown followed through, but he dodged it using the fourth Pace, yet hundreds of magic circles appeared in his surroundings.
"Mana Bombardment."
The words he heard signalled him that this is not help, but an attack to him. Using the last Pace, he activated Boundless Step to escape the bombardment, and Slide to avoid the attacks that came too close.
But, that was not the end of it.
Bombardment, and meteor shower, plus hail and thunderstorm.
Skills after skills aimed at him, and he used the Boundless Steps to evade all.
Boundless Steps, are eight different steps, and a special step: Slide, Walk, Trek, Skip, Stomp, Boost, Pace and Step.
Each one has a cooldown, and duration times. Some other has different actions taken.
For example, Boundless Pace is a five-step skill that can travel different distances, one step longer than it's precedent. So, if Zypher travelled five meters on the first step, he has to travel six or higher meters on the next step.
After that, it comes to a cooldown of one minute, before he can use it again.
Basically, it can be replenished fast. The same can be said to the other Steps, but this scenario made Zypher longing towards the end of his cooldown.
The bombardment is not as easy, and he is currently running without skills, although the skills has a low cooldown.
Another round of bullets rained on him as he ducked, rolled and tumbled away as he dodged almost everything.
Using his Title: One Man Army, he stole some of the attackers' speed stat to run around.
He saw the team on a high ground, with two mages, an artillerist, a martial artist and three guys with unknown classes.
Although, they are not unfamiliar.
These three are the ones that mouthed off back in Omadd, which is the one who wants to take his quest.
First come, first served. That's the rule for quests, but Zypher took it first.
Although Issa will say the same words, she will also add that another has also took in the request, and will accomodate them if the first taker did not take the quest anymore.
Zypher has the right to take the quest, but they threatened him so he will drop it.
Yet he stood his ground, and even attacked them.
Running around, and making noise, woke up the other Burnts in the surrounding, that also made Zypher's running awaykre difficult.
As he looked up again, the martial artist was gone.
He was going to run faster, but a hand suddenly grabbed his neck.
