The Ye Family was blocked by the Qian Family and couldn't go anywhere. The Qian Family demanded an explanation from them, making the situation sound particularly severe, saying Qian Zile could never take the imperial examination again, and marrying would be a problem, holding the Ye Family responsible. They even mentioned the County Magistrate, saying either break one of Ye Conghui's legs or compensate, otherwise they would take Ye Conghui to prison.
Old Lady Wang and Wang Hong almost fainted hearing this. Breaking a leg was impossible; Ye Chun already had a broken leg, and if Ye Conghui broke his too, wouldn't half the family be cripples? Besides, having a broken leg would truly ruin a life.
But as for compensation, their family had no way to come up with a thousand silver taels to pay.
"Mr. Qian, could you give us some time? We will definitely compensate," Old Lady Wang said, forcing herself to stay calm.
