The Boar, upon seeing and feeling the blade cut into its flesh jumped back, violently dislodging the blade and causing blood to spill on the ground between them.
At this point, the Eagle was no longer of any concern to either Yin Lian or the Boar. Not only had it escaped far beyond the scope of their visions, but they had just completely forgotten about it in its entirety, only focusing purely on each other now.
The Boar because it needed to either kill or injure Yin Lian enough to make her stop or retreat. And Yin Lian because her mind was overwhelmed with a desire to kill this beast after she was able to draw blood.
Something about the act of causing it to bleed awoke something deep within her, some kind of need, an emotion, a desire to inflict pain.
She was awakening some rather… Interesting desires, that would eventually lead to some… Equally as interesting tendencies.
Regardless of what was happening to Yin Lian internally and mentally, externally and physically she felt exhilarated. And she wanted to do it again. To inflict more pain, to shed more blood.
And to that end, she suddenly lunged towards the Boar without warning. "RRRAAAAHHHHH!!!!"
She screamed and slashed at the Boar, but it jumped back instinctively, its eyes shrunk, full of shock. The tip of Yin Lian's blade grazed the boar's other arm, cutting of a small tuft of fur and making a small gash in the boar's skin.
Yin Lian did not let up, and instead pressed further on the offensive, stepping forth and swinging her weapon continuously in rapid succession and pushing the boar further back with each slash.
At some point, the boar backed up into a tree, forcing it to stand its ground and defend every strike from Yin Lian.
Amid all the strikes that kept creating more and more cuts, slowly getting deeper and deeper in the Boars flesh, the Boar could see the crazed and bloody look in Yin Lian's eyes.
It was then that it realised that if it didn't defeat her here and now, that it would die here. And seeing that there was no other option, as he had been backed up into a corner, the Boar had only one option left available to it.
With a loud screech, the Boar unleashed all of its energy in a primal rage. It was a gamble as to whether or not this would pay off, as even if it could escape or kill the human before it, it likely wouldn't survive for long. The Eagle might come back to finish it off after, or some other animal might slay it when its energy ran out.
Hearing the roar, Yin Lian jumped back. Although she was bloodthirsty, she could feel something dangerous coming from the Boar after its roar.
Her instincts were telling her to be afraid. But she refused to cower. She wanted death. And nothing, not even her own mind or gut instincts were going to get in the way of that.
The Boars roar faded and it looked at Yin Lian, its eyes now a deep crimson, like a pair of bloody moons that seemed to bore deep into ones very soul when you stared at them.
Yin Lian felt a shiver down her spine as she threw an Essence Slash towards the Boars face.
But unlike what she was expecting to see when it made contact over its snout, it merely left a light cut. It still bled, but it wasn't as deep as it should've been.
Something about what the Boar did when it screamed had clearly improved its defences, as well as lowering its intelligence as it suddenly started to charge straight at her.
Yin Lian barely had time to jump to the side, landing on the ground. She scrambled to get up to retaliate, but by then, it was too late and she had to jump out of the Boars path once more.
Luckily, she didn't fall to the ground this time, merely stumbling a bit. But that was enough for the Boar to charge at her once more.
Thankfully, because she didn't have to waste time getting up, Yin Lian was more prepared this time and jumped to the side once more, throwing out an Essence Slash as the Boar soared past her.
It left only a graze compared to the previous wounds that she'd inflicted, but it was better than nothing.
With how heavily it was bleeding out right now, it shouldn't be capable of standing for long. All Yin Lian had to do now, was wait it out until it couldn't keep it up any further.
It was now a race to see who could remain standing the longest.
Although Yin Lian's energy reserves were looking okay, her body was starting to struggle to keep this kind of strain up. This was the first time she'd used it so much, using many different moves, and in such a short period of time too. It wouldn't be long before she just outright collapsed from exhaustion.
But the Boar wasn't doing much better despite seemingly having energy to last for hours, when in reality, it was expending more energy with every charge. It too did not have long left before it would just keel over unconscious.
The Boar kept on charging at Yin Lian, who kept on jumping to the side and taking every chance to slash at the beast, slowly whitling it down and inflicting more injuries, which just caused it to expend more energy.
Chargin again, the Boar barrelled its body towards Yin Lian, who once more jumped out of the way. But due to her exhaustion, her body collapsed onto the ground, refusing to get up. Her legs had given out.
Turning her head to see the Boar charging at her, she found that it was still turning around. Whereas before it would only take a few seconds to turn around, this time, it took much longer, its movements seemed more rigid and cumbersome.
It was then that Yin Lian realised that the Boar was also giving out. If she could just survive the next charge, she might just be able to outlast the Boar, as it might not have the energy to charge again.
The only problem with all of that though was the fact that she had no real way to dodge anymore. Yin Lian's body wouldn't move, but she had barely any time left. The Boar began charging.
It was at a much slower speed than before, but would still with enough force to trample Yin Lian's body into a bloody pulp, but not slow enough as to let her get out of the way. And even if she did move, it might change its angle in the process.
With her heart racing and her eyes shrinking, Yin Lian saw what little of her life she had experienced flash in her mind, from her loving parents and them being taken away, to the monotonous days spent in the inheritance, doing nothing but training.
Right now, she wished that she could simply head back and continue training rather that be in this situation. Why, oh why didn't she listen?
AS the Boar got closer with each and every shuddering step, Yin Lian's heart and soul began to panic, trying to think of anything that she could do to. She couldn't move, she couldn't attack, what would that even accomplish?
Of all the techniques at her disposal, only one came to mind at this moment. But would it even work? And would it be enough?
There wasn't any time to consider any of this as Yin Lian hastily threw up an [Essence Barrier] in front of her, moments before the Boar reached her.
When it did finally crash into the barrier that she raised, it cracked, forming a web across its surface before shattering completely, the force of which sending Yin Lian flying backwards and into a tree.
If not for her unusually strong body, the impact from colliding with the tree might've killed her.
But luckily for Yin Lian, it seemed that the Boar was now barely able to stand after colliding with her barrier.
And indeed, it soon collapsed on its side mere moments after trying to take a step towards her.
Yin Lian let out a sigh of relief, but didn't let herself collapse just yet. She could see that it was still breathing. Faintly, but still breathing nonetheless.
Although her legs no longer worked, her arms were still at least functional, so Yin Lian began crawling over to her weapon which had flown out of her hand when she was blown back.
When she reached it, Yin Lian began to then crawl over to the Boar's head. Once there, she took her Satanre and aimed it at the Boar's eye before thrusting it forward.
There was a squirt of blood from the eye as she pierced its brain. The Boar's body tensed up for a moment before finally collapsing and falling limp, truly dead at last.
And this is how Yin Lian secured her first kill.
