Luna was floating- No, she was descending in an endless void... Watching as the remnants of other gods and goddesses too weak for this world hovered past.
She had failed...
She had gotten her champion killed.
There was no hope at this point, and as her will weakened...
She began to fade...
Far far below... Lie the gates of Tartarus... Which would soon open and swallow her whole.
The eternal prison of the gods...
She was afraid.
As she should be... Tartarus was full of all of the horrors of this world. Even Elder gods could be imprisoned by its force.
In all honesty... She had given up before Chase, retreated like a coward.
How could she not... She was only young compared to the other gods.
In fact, she was around fourteen years old when converted to human age...
Although she had lived several centuries out in the world... Her mind had not advanced all that much.
She was too eager, too ambitious, too childish...
She had broken the pact of the lesser gods... Placed herself into humanity via a Champion, and had gotten him into things beyond his understanding. Beyond both of their understandings.
Even though he had fought past the brink of any human should be capable of... She had given up before using even a fraction of her true power.
Because she did not truly understand her own power.
When she was young, younger than even now. She had been bestowed the blessings of moon and had been greeted as a human child.
By the Greater God of the moon.
The being had told her that she had been bestowed as the next ruler of the lesser moon. Aka... The human's moon.
Reality was strange, and she did not quite understand how all of it came together. The fact that Vallmora was the corpse of a Greater god... Was enough to spook her, giving her nightmares of the visions she had gained for centuries...
She was afraid...
She was afraid of the future... So she rebelled against it... Finding a loophole and choosing the being who seemed to hate the gods the most as her Champion.
Yet even she did not understand what that word meant.
Which is why all of the gods and goddesses seemed so angry at her decision.
'Why?' She thought, glancing at the remnants of past gods with indifference.
She could not comprehend their corpses, which she usually could not comprehend the true forms of gods above her rank...
As she tried to make sense of everything in her dying breaths...
She felt a pull.
An ethereal and destined pull, trying to lift her back up.
But she fought against its might, refusing to be brought back to see the destruction she had caused.
This had happened once already...
When she had let her Champion fight a losing battle that should not have been won...
There was no realistic way that he should have defeated Rider... As Rider was strong enough to slay Prometheus... And yet Chase could not kill a lesser god. Let alone a Paladin...
So how did he win?
She could not comprehend it.
Was it that he outsmarted The King of Corruption? Was Rider far too taken by the corruption that he spent his life trying to control?
Well the answer was yes, but it still wouldn't have mattered.
His strength was overwhelming, even for Luna.
As the gates began to swing open so slowly...
The pull returned.
She could feel...
A scream...
'Chase?'
Her champion was asking of her...
No...
He was demanding her return...
Was she not dead?
Fading away into history?
She could not comprehend the thought.
Yet her own godly catalyst was radiating with lunar energy...
Then one of the forms began to speak with distortion.
Yet it made sense.
"You will need a true contract... He will have to willingly give up a part of himself..."
The voice said eerily...
"And you will have to tie yourself into that boy... Making yourself a true part of his being..." It continued.
"Why are you helping me?" She asked, tears threatening on the corners of her eyes.
"Because he is the key... And only you were able to see that... The key to break the world free of the greater existences... Have you not read the will of Orion? The reason for my banishment?" The God continued.
"You were banished?" She asked.
The voice laughed.
"I was doomed! Because I went against their orders and read the will... It said that there would come a time when a human just as strong as Orion would stand... But unlike Orion... The distance between him and his allies... Would no longer be vast... And I think that time is nearing... Don't you think Lunar Goddess?" The voice asked with formal speech, which had been lost for the lesser gods since the dawn of time.
Then the pulling grew stronger.
Luna began to ascend.
Her vision blurring as a scene began to play out before her.
She was hiding underneath a building as the kingdom above began to burn.
For some reason... She had taken the form of a young child... And had hidden herself underneath Frostfang...
She was not aloud to be here... As it would be directly involving herself in human affairs... Yet she had went against that. But all she wanted to do was see it.
She wanted to see the horrors humans were capable of.
And she found herself crying as the human's mother of the child she had possessed, had been crying.
So she found it only right that she cried as well.
There were three mercenaries laughing and speaking about the girl she had possessed.
Terrible things no monsters should even say.
So when they fell to a child's blade...
She naturally feared that child.
"It's alright... They can't hurt you now..." The boy said with no emotion in his eyes at the sight of the slaughtered people within that basement.
He had muddied golden hair... And bright green eyes...
Although Luna wanted to find comfort in him...
She could only stare in awe as he tried to comfort the child...
She understood why the gods were not allowed to indulge in human affairs...
And yet every part of her being wanted to reveal her true form to this boy...
He...
Was...
Worthy...
