"Ah, Boss, you finally made it." At that moment, Aoki Youichi was on duty in the office of Plant No.1. Seeing Selene arrive didn't surprise him—after all, she had notified him beforehand.
"Of course. You said the tasks I assigned you were completed, didn't you? Naturally, I had to come take a look myself."
"Mission accomplished," Aoki Youichi said with a grin. "As per your instructions, aside from the basic industrial machine tools, we've also finished classifying and packaging nearly all industrial design blueprints we could either research or acquire from the public market. Everything's stored in the underground storage chamber."
"At the same time, the radioactive materials delivered by Kakine Teitoku, as well as those collected by our research institute, have been safely secured. We used the latest radiation containment units—they can effectively block exposure."
"Good. Take me to the radioactive materials storage chamber first. Those are the key items." Though Selene appeared calm, a faint eagerness stirred in her heart.
"Understood."
Fifteen minutes later, Selene and her team arrived outside the radiation storage chamber. The thick titanium-alloy gate before them was enough to make anyone uneasy—but Selene could understand the need. After all, not everyone could survive cosmic radiation with their bare body.
"Aoki, you and the others don't need to come in. It'd just be a hassle. I'll go in alone to store them properly," Selene said, turning toward Aoki Youichi, who was halfway through putting on a hazmat suit.
"But Boss, aren't you going to wear protective gear?"
"No need. I'll just reflect all radiation with Vector Manipulation."
Upon hearing that, Aoki immediately stopped and bowed respectfully. "Understood."
Of course, Selene didn't actually have Vector Manipulation—at least, not yet. But that didn't stop her from using it as an excuse. After all, among those who knew her true nature, it was already common knowledge that she could simulate multiple abilities.
Entering the password, scanning her fingerprint and iris, Selene pushed open the alloy door and stepped through the transparent protective glass into the containment area.
As for why she didn't just teleport inside? Well... you can't skip the ritual.
After walking down a long safety corridor, she found herself in a pristine white room. Were it not for the metallic silver-gray flooring, she might not even have known where she was.
The space spanned about a hundred square meters, lined with white cylindrical containers. Though officially "storage units," their shape resembled oil drums—only made with far more expensive materials and crafted with exceptional precision.
With a soft clack, Selene opened a container marked with the black-and-yellow radiation warning symbol. Inside was a dense, silver-white metal. Glancing at the attached documentation, she murmured, "So this is uranium, huh?"
Next, she examined the containers labeled with symbols for neptunium, plutonium, and other heavy elements.
Satisfied, Selene nodded, toying with the pieces of radioactive metal in her hand—completely unaffected by their presence.
In all of Academy City, perhaps only a handful of people could handle radioactive material this casually. For anyone else, that would be suicide—the kind of event where your entire village would be at your funeral.
"It should be enough." Returning the elements to their containers and sealing them tightly, Selene lightly tapped her foot. A surge of violet-red energy rippled outward, and the sealed containers slowly sank into the Imaginary Space.
"Alright, that's done..." Just as she was about to leave, she froze for a moment. "Ah—almost forgot to remove the radiation on me..."
If she walked out covered in high-level radiation, Selene herself would be fine—but Aoki Youichi and the others waiting outside? They'd be cooked alive. Radiation exposure wasn't something mortals could shrug off.
Strong Nuclear Force Control!
After cleansing every trace of radiation from her body, hair, and clothing, Selene finally stepped out of the chamber.
"Hm?"
Outside the glass barrier, Aoki and the others were staring at her with wide-eyed astonishment. Feeling their heated gazes, Selene frowned slightly. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"
Aoki, staring blankly at the radiation detection monitors, couldn't help twitching. The expensive radiation sensors they had just bought... weren't reacting at all.
Don't tell me this thing's a dud...
Hearing Selene's question, Aoki Youichi quickly replied, "It's nothing... It's just, the radiation detector didn't trigger any alarms. Even if you could reflect all radiation that touches your skin, your clothing shouldn't be able to reflect it as well..."
"Then I simply expand the reflection range. Problem solved. What? Any other questions?"
"N-No, none at all!"
"Good. Then let's go take a look at the main production unit you've prepared."
"Yes, ma'am!"
...
That night, after storing all the industrial machinery and equipment Aoki had prepared into the Imaginary Space, Selene left the Schicksal Research Institute and returned to her manor in School District 7.
World of Origin: A Certain Magical Index World
Dominated World: The Walking Dead
Name: Selene von Habsburg
Race: Herrscher
Gender: Female
Height / Weight: 168cm / 59kg
Attribute: Honkai
Alignment: Chaotic Evil (with a highly flexible moral outlook)
Innate Abilities:
[Absolute Honkai Adaptation]: Originating from the Kaslana bloodline, which carries traits such as superhuman strength, robustness, and tenacity. Upon becoming a Herrscher, these qualities have been further elevated in essence.
[Honkai Manipulation]: Derived from the Schariac bloodline. As a Herrscher, Selene possesses overwhelming control and dominion over Honkai energy itself.
[Space Manipulation]: The ability to create an Imaginary Space superimposed on real space for both offense and defense. The Imaginary Space refers to all dimensions beyond the four-dimensional real world—an infinite number of possible layers. Selene acts as the link between these realms, projecting entities from the Imaginary into the Real, transforming them into tangible existence at will.
[Electromagnetic Mastery]: Absolute control over electromagnetic fields. Selene can expand this power according to her understanding, such as generating a super-electrical field that insulates her from all physical and energy-based attacks, or an electromagnetic pulse that disrupts molecular bonds.
[Strong Nuclear Force Control]: The strong nuclear force acts between hadrons and is the most powerful of the four fundamental forces in the universe. Selene can freely manipulate molecular motion in all forms—not just translation, but also rotation and vibration of atoms within molecules.
Skills: Spatial / Imaginary Operation, Electromagnetic Control, Fusion / Fission Manipulation...
After several months, Selene once again turned her gaze to the data interface hovering in her vision.
Reopening her system panel, she now possessed, in addition to the powers of the Herrscher of the Void and Herrscher of Thunder, a new dominion—the authority of the Herrscher of Fire. It was precisely this new power that had driven her recent collection of radioactive materials.
"Now, everything is ready..." Selene murmured with a faint, confident smile. "All that's left... is the east wind."
