Chapter 366 - Hydra

A group of traders arrived with advanced tools and large boats. They said the center of the lake could be mapped safely. They promised more fish, more water, and faster growth for the village.

Some younger villagers were interested. The offer sounded reasonable. The traders showed drawings and plans. They spoke with confidence.

The village leaders listened carefully. They did not reject the idea immediately. They asked questions.

What would happen if something went wrong?

Who would take responsibility?

How would the lake change after heavy use?

What would be lost if the balance was disturbed?

The traders did not have clear answers to all of these questions.

So the village called another meeting.

This time, the discussion lasted several days. People thought about the dry season they had survived. They remembered how close they had come to needing more water. They remembered that the lake had remained steady because they had not pushed it.

In the end, they declined the offer.
