Chapter 529: The Mang Tianchi, Certain to Win the Championship

With his strength breaking through to the Five-Star Dou Zun level and his companion Xiao Jin, the Nine Profound Golden Thunder Dragon, rising to the top five of the Mysterious Thunder Rankings, Mo Yu's venture into the 'Void Thunder Pool' had been immensely rewarding.

As Mo Yu celebrated his gains, a formless gust of wind suddenly shot out from the depths of the Thunder Pool. Wherever the wind passed, the terrifying thunderbolts were instantly obliterated.

"What a terrifying gust of wind!" Mo Yu's hair stood on end as he sensed the danger.

Just as Mo Yu's scalp tingled from the sheer intensity of the wind, a figure shot out from the area that had been torn apart by the wind, looking extremely disheveled. Behind this figure, more than a dozen enormous, pitch-black thunderbolts followed, resembling black dragons in pursuit.

At first glance, even Mo Yu felt an intense shudder in his soul as he looked at those black thunderbolts. A sense of indescribable danger gripped his heart, and without hesitation, he recalled Xiao Jin and immediately turned to flee from the Thunder Pool.

As he fled, Mo Yu vaguely recalled something about the disheveled figure being chased by the black thunder. He had an inkling that the person was no ordinary individual, but the black thunder behind them was even more dangerous.

Though Mo Yu was proficient with thunder, he knew that with his current strength, even the slightest touch from those black thunderbolts would leave nothing of him but dust. The gap in power was so vast that it rendered everything else meaningless.

Pushing his speed to the limit, Mo Yu left trails of afterimages behind as he raced away. If not for the overwhelming power of the Void Thunder Pool, which prevented spatial tears, he would have escaped long ago.

As Mo Yu pondered, the figure behind him seemed to have noticed him. What puzzled Mo Yu was that instead of fleeing in another direction, the person was heading straight toward him.

"Why does this person's aura feel so familiar, like one of those people from the Lei Clan?" Mo Yu's expression darkened as he sensed the terrifying pressure coming from behind.

It was clear that this person wanted to team up with him to fend off the black thunder. But this person had clearly overestimated Mo Yu's capabilities.

"Hey, friend up ahead!" a voice suddenly called from behind as the sound of wind slicing through the air grew louder. A ghostly figure appeared beside Mo Yu and, after taking one look at him, exclaimed in surprise, "A Five-Star Dou Zun? Are you kidding me? With that level of strength, you dare come to the Void Thunder Pool? Are you out of your mind?"

Hearing this, Mo Yu's expression darkened even more. Not only had this guy brought the black thunder to him, but he also had a ridiculously sharp tongue.

As they ran, Mo Yu glanced sideways at the person next to him. The man appeared quite old, his hair streaked with gray. His robes were tattered, clearly damaged by the thunderbolts. However, despite his disheveled appearance, the man radiated an undeniable vigor, as if the destructive black thunder behind him hadn't done much harm at all.

"Lei Clan... Void Thunder Pool... An old man... Could this be Mang Tianchi, the headmaster of the Canaan Academy?" The thought flashed through Mo Yu's mind.

Even though he guessed the old man's identity, Mo Yu wasn't particularly interested. The black thunder behind them was closing in, and that was all that mattered right now.

"Are you serious? These things are too fast! Well, kid, I'm heading out first!" The old man also noticed the speed of the black thunder. With a strange cry, he twisted the space in front of him, stepped through it, and reappeared a kilometer away.

"Not bad for a Half-Saint!" Mo Yu muttered in admiration, stunned by Mang Tianchi's ability to tear through space even within the Void Thunder Pool. However, his face quickly darkened as he realized that the black thunder had now locked onto him after Mang Tianchi vanished.

"That old geezer!" Mo Yu cursed, his expression fluctuating. But when he noticed the residual spatial tear left by Mang Tianchi, his silver eyes brightened.

Although Mo Yu lacked the ability to tear through space in the Void Thunder Pool, Mang Tianchi's lingering spatial distortion might allow him to break through.

Without hesitation, Mo Yu summoned his Void Shattering Thunder and slashed at the tear in space.

Boom!

With a burst of silver lightning, the spatial tear twisted and expanded, creating a passageway just big enough for a person to pass through.

Seeing this, Mo Yu's face lit up with joy. Just as the black thunder was about to strike, he dove into the spatial tear, and in the blink of an eye, his figure disappeared.

Whoosh!

Outside the Void Thunder Pool, Mo Yu suddenly emerged from the space. Taking a deep breath, he felt relieved. If he had been struck by that black thunder, the outcome would have been devastating.

"Where did that old geezer go? Fleeing so frantically is quite unbecoming for a Lei Clan powerhouse," Mo Yu muttered as he caught his breath and his expression returned to normal.

"You think those little things could really chase me into a frenzy?" A voice suddenly echoed in Mo Yu's ears.

Startled, Mo Yu looked up to see the disheveled old man, Mang Tianchi, floating in front of him, glaring at him with wide eyes.

Recalling how Mang Tianchi had left him to deal with the black thunder alone, Mo Yu coldly snorted, "Was I wrong in what I said about your actions earlier, old man?"

"Hehe, kid, I could see that you had great potential, so I knew you'd find a way out. And even if you hadn't, I would have come back to save you. But it turns out I was right—you managed to escape on your own," Mang Tianchi rubbed his hands together and laughed awkwardly.

"It was just luck," Mo Yu replied, his lips twitching slightly as he gained a new perspective on the creator of Canaan Academy.

"By the way, kid, how did you know I was from the Lei Clan?" Mang Tianchi suddenly asked.

While it wouldn't have surprised him if an old sage recognized his origins, it puzzled him that a youngster like Mo Yu could do so. After all, Mang Tianchi had been retired for decades, though he wasn't exactly unknown.

"I just sensed something familiar about your aura," Mo Yu responded vaguely.

Mang Tianchi blinked in surprise and then said, "I didn't expect you to have encountered members of the Lei Clan before."

Shaking his head, Mang Tianchi changed the subject. "Kid, deep within the Thunder Pool, there are some fascinating creatures formed from pure thunder energy. They're incredible for cultivation. Since you've got some skill, why don't we team up and dive back in for some fun?"

Mo Yu frowned slightly, tempted but ultimately shaking his head. While the thunder creatures were tempting, his current strength was still too low. Venturing deeper into the Thunder Pool now would be too risky. It wasn't the right time for such a hunt.

"Wow, today's young people really lack guts. You're even less daring than an old man like me," Mang Tianchi scoffed, seeing Mo Yu's hesitation.

"But since we've met, let me introduce myself. The name's Mang, though I doubt a youngster like you would know my name. Still, the fact that you recognized I'm from the Lei Clan is impressive. I almost forgot where I came from," Mang Tianchi said, grinning.

"Mang?" Mo Yu repeated, feigning a thoughtful expression. Just as he was deciding whether to reveal that he knew Mang Tianchi's identity, a sudden noise interrupted him.

"Whoosh!"

A gust of wind rushed toward them, and a loud voice called out from the distance, "Brother Mo Yu, are you alright?"

"Huh? Someone from the Taixu Ancient Dragon Clan?" Mang Tianchi glanced at the approaching figure and then looked back at Mo Yu, puzzled by the connection between an ordinary human and the ancient dragon clan.

But then something clicked, and Mang Tianchi's old eyes lit up. He stared at Mo Yu in surprise, asking, "Did you once study at Canaan Academy? Are you from the Mo branch of the Lei Clan?"

Hearing Mang Tianchi recognize him, Mo Yu's expression flickered. Hiding his surprise, he feigned shock and replied, "Yes, I studied at Canaan Academy. As for my Lei Clan heritage, only a select few know about it. How did you find out?"

Seeing Mo Yu's stunned expression, Mang Tianchi smiled knowingly and chuckled, "Since you recognized that I'm from the Lei Clan, it's no surprise I figured out your origins. But since someone's here to fetch you, I'll take my leave. You've got potential, kid, but you're still far from my level. Keep working on it.

"Oh, and get ready for the Lei Clan's Guard Captain Tournament. I've got high hopes for you. By the way, I also checked on your fiancée, Lei Fei. She's grown into quite the beauty. You're one lucky guy—I'm a bit envious," Mang Tianchi chuckled mischievously. Not wanting to meet anyone else, he waved at Mo Yu before flickering out of sight in a ripple of spatial distortion.

Watching the talkative Mang Tianchi disappear, Mo Yu could only shake his head helplessly before turning to face the approaching Hei Qing.

"Phew, I finally found you! Thankfully, Dragon King left a dragon mark on you, or it would've been impossible to track you down," Hei Qing said, relieved to see Mo Yu safe.

"I ran into some trouble in the Thunder Pool, but I managed to get out on my own," Mo Yu replied with a smile, not bothering to explain everything that had happened. "Anyway, let's head back. I'm done here."

"Great! I was getting bored of this place," Hei Qing grinned, quickly transforming into his massive black dragon form.

Mo Yu leaped onto Hei Qing's back, and with a roar, the black dragon took off, speeding through the skies in a flash of light, disappearing into the horizon.

Not long after Mo Yu and Hei Qing left, the space in the Void Thunder Pool rippled once again. An old figure appeared—Mang Tianchi. He stood there, staring at the spot where Mo Yu had vanished.

"A remarkable talent, even for an offshoot family of the Lei Clan. How curious…" His voice echoed softly, full of puzzlement, as he disappeared into the void.

Meanwhile, riding on Hei Qing's back, Mo Yu pondered Mang Tianchi's parting words. If not for the old man's reminder, Mo Yu might have completely forgotten about the Lei Clan's Guard Captain Tournament.

Though he was grateful to Lei Ying for his help, Mo Yu had never been particularly fond of his Lei Clan lineage. But now that he owed Lei Ying a favor and couldn't change his bloodline, he knew he had no choice but to participate in the tournament.

With only two months left before the tournament began, Mo Yu planned to make a quick trip to Dragon Island before heading straight to the Lei Clan to compete.

"I wonder how many strong opponents there will be in the Lei Clan's Guard Captain Tournament…" Mo Yu murmured to himself, his thoughts turning toward the competition.

Given his current strength, only a Half-Saint could hope to defeat him, and Half-Saint experts were exceedingly rare, even within the Lei Clan's elite Eight Banners.

So, if there were no Half-Saints among the captains, his chances of victory were incredibly high.

"Well then, I guess the Lei Clan's Guard Captain Championship will be mine," Mo Yu said calmly, a faint smile curving his lips.

His voice was casual, as if the outcome was already decided—a reflection of his confidence and strength.

Little did he know, when the title of Lei Clan's Guard Captain Champion fell to an outsider from a low-ranking offshoot family, who was also the fiancé of Lei Fei, the Lei Clan's princess, it would stir up quite the storm among the clan's elite.

But for now, Mo Yu remained serene, completely unaware of the chaos his victory would soon cause…(End of Chapter)
