"Stop staring and start moving."
Tang Li Yue's voice snapped across the farmhouse yard before anyone could decide to turn the moment into a dramatic reunion.
Which was good.
Dramatic reunions wasted time. They also encouraged hugging. Tang Li Yue was not morally opposed to hugging, exactly, but she believed it should occur after washing, injury inspection, and proper verification that no one had been bitten, scratched, injected, restrained, or otherwise made into a portable disaster.
The survivors from Changping Grain Depot stood just inside the outer gate, blinking under the morning light. The farmhouse did not look like much from the road, especially with its reinforced panels, patched fence lines, and concealed watch points. It looked too quiet. Too rural. Too ordinary.
Which was precisely why Tang Li Yue liked it.
Unfortunately, bringing in nearly twenty people at once made even a quiet place feel like a pot about to boil over.
