Tang Li Yue looked between them.
There was no arrogance in He Yao's voice. Only practical confidence.
"Let him drive," she said. "If he crashes the truck, I will blame him personally. That should motivate him."
He Yao gave her a tired look. "I am deeply comforted."
Lu Chengran nodded once. "Drive. I will cover the passenger side."
He Yao climbed behind the wheel.
Tang Li Yue moved toward the cargo compartment, where Professor Han was helping Qin Yu sit down beside her brother. The young woman's hands still trembled, but the wind around her had settled into faint currents that lifted the loose strands of her hair.
Lin Shuying and Minghao were not with them yet. Neither were Major Lin, Gao Jun, Xu Ren, or the first group.
Tang Li Yue looked at the hand radio. "Xu Ren."
Static answered first.
Then his voice came through. "Li Yue?"
"Where are you?"
