"There is a drainage hatch behind Warehouse Three," Major Lin said. "It was used when the grain depot still handled bulk deliveries. If a storage bin flooded or spoiled, the washout channels drained into the service canal behind the building. It is narrow, filthy, and it has not been used in years, but it connects to the rear maintenance corridor."
Tang Li Yue looked down at the map again.
The five of them were still crouched inside the upper floor of the old feed-processing building. Dawn had begun to thin the darkness outside, turning the ruined warehouse district into something gray and cold. Across the street, Changping Grain Depot continued to swallow survivors through its front gates.
A woman with an ability was dragged into Warehouse Three.
A child cried after her.
The guards did not care.
Tang Li Yue's mood had been terrible since then.
Now Major Lin had given them a possible entrance. That did not improve her mood. It simply gave it direction.
