Albert was close to losing his mind.
His hard work, his properties, everything he had spent years building, was being stripped away piece by piece.
He couldn't even go home anymore. The police and press surrounded his house, leaving him trapped in his office.
Another letter from the bank sat unopened on his desk.
He didn't need to read it.
He already knew.
Another property seized. Another warning. Another reminder that the Edison household was no longer his.
Albert leaned back in his chair and dragged both hands down his face.
He had never been in debt before. Now, the bank was taking his properties, furniture and anything else valuable enough to recover what he owed.
His phone rang.
Albert stared at it before answering.
"Have you placed the blame on her?"
"Yeah. But sir, the police could be at your house at any moment. And about the money you owe us.."
Albert's jaw tightened.
" Fifty million. I know."
"We need it."
"I said I'll pay you."
He ended the call before the man could respond.
Albert threw the phone onto his desk and stared at the ceiling.
Only one person could help him.
He grabbed his phone again and dialled a number he hadn't called in a while.
Once.
Twice.
Then someone answered.
"Hello?"
"Hannah. It's me, Albert. I need your help."
Hannah sighed at the other end.
"What do you want, Albert?"
"Your nephew is on my ass. My accounts have been blocked, and I'm being monitored. You need to help me."
Silence.
"Ok."
"What?"
"I said I'd help you out."
"Y-you can't take that back, Hannah. I've also helped you with that ugly girl. You have to help me."
"Are you threatening me?"
"N-no, yes. I am. Help me, or else Alex finds out about everything."
Hannah scoffed. "My men will be there soon."
"Thank you, Hannah"
Her screen darkened. Her hand tightened around the phone.
"You know what to do," she said to the guard behind her.
The door clicked softly behind her.
