Four weeks of disguising herself as Avery, Veronica was going insane. Either her mask was itching, or Alex could stare at her for a long period and say nothing to her. At times, she feels like he knows she is not his wife and he is just pretending; other times, he ignores her existence. But guess what, she wasnt going to give up. She went through the surveillance camera footage the other day at Fresh Greens, and Avery was still tied to the chair.
She plans to starve her to death. Veronica held the tray full of Alex's food and walked to his office.
The door creaked opened and she peeped her head inside.
"Can I come in?" She asked
Alex hummed without raising his head from his laptop.
Veronica swayed her hips back and forth. She placed the tray on the coffee table and walked towards him.
"I missed you, baby," she said as she squeezed herself on Alex's lap.
Alex sighed and looked at her with narrow eyes.
"I'm busy, Avery."
Veronica chuckled.
"I know, but this will be quick." She wrapped her hands around his neck and leaned against his lips to kiss him; however, Alex turned his head away from her.
"I see," she muttered. She licked her teeth and said, "You've changed, babe. What is going on?"
Alex cleared his throat and stood up. Veronica tightened her hands around his neck. She let go when she secured her feet properlyon the floor.
"As I said, I'm busy," he said. He brushed his hand through his hair and turned away from her.
Veronica scoffed and walked towards him. She held his arm and turned him towards her.
"You don't want to give me attention. Fine, then give me money."
Alex pulled his arm away from her aggressively, making her stumble backwards. But she studied herself before she could fall.
"Money? How many times do you want money? I gave you money last week, and you still need more."
"That wasnt enough. Of course, I need more. You've changed, Alex. You don't argue with me when I ask for money. Tell me who you're cheating on me with. Tell me!" she barked at him.
"I'm out of here. I'm sleeping in the guest room today."
She let out a scream when Alex slammed. She bit on her thumb. Thoughts and scenarios were swimming in her head.
"As he found out who I am? No, it's impossible. I have the same body stature as hers. I changed my voice to sound exactly like her. Its been only two months and he is acting like this. I need money. Money."
She paced in the room and kept chewing her nails. She came to a halt when she thought of another male Gibson.
"Yes, Max. he has been bombarding me for sex. I can exchange that for money. Yes. After all, Alex doesn't have one with me. That asshole, if I knew he would act like this, i wouldnt have come back. At least Max wouldnt do that to me.
