Alex lowered his gun and turned to Damien.
"What are you talking about?"
Damien sighed as he rubbed his temples. He looked at Alex.
"I didn't want to say this, but it's true."
Alex scoffed.
"Don't talk nonsense, Red Bull. There is no way a Gibson killed someone from your family. We don't even do business with you."
Damien placed his gun down.
"Oh, one of your family used to do business with the Rufus family until she decided to betray us."
"She?"
Alex's jaw tightened.
"She? My mother is dead. Why would she do business with you?"
"Are you fucking kidding me? Is she the only woman in your family now, apart from my daughter?" Damien said as he threw his hands in the air.
POW! POW!
The bullets struck the chandelier above them. Crystal shattered, raining glittering fragments across the dining table.
Avery flinched.
His hands hung in the air as he breathed heavily.
"It can't be her. It can't be Aunt Hannah."
"Are you crazy, Alexander? Your wife is pregnant. Think straight." Stefan warned.
Erica got up from her seat and, hugging Avery, directed the ladies out of the room.
"You fucking think Hannah is an angel? Wake up, Alex. She is a devil."
Alex turned to him and pointed a gun at him. Before Damien could say anything, another gunshot was heard.
"ALEX!"
Hearing Avery scream his scream, Alex turned towards her. She struggled to free herself from Erica's hold.
Alex stared at his trembling hand before looking at Damien, who was clutching his wounded arm. He dropped the gun and rubbed his hand on his face.
"A-Avery, listen."
Avery rushed to Damien. She pressed on his wound, trying to prevent the blood from coming out.
"Dad, are you ok?" Avery asked with a tear-streaked face.
Damien's eyes lit up when he heard what she called him.
"I'm fine," Damien said, trying to suppress his smile.
Avery turned towards Alex and said.
"You'd better pray my father survives, Alexander. Because if anything happens to him, so help me God."
"Babe, I can explain. I'm sorry."
-
Damien was placed in the ambulance.
Everyone stayed behind since he insisted no one follow him. Alex walked to his study and made a call.
"I want my aunt's past and recent activities. ASAP"
He leaned back in his chair, hands covering his face.
"FUCK!"
Hannah.
The woman he'd trusted all his life.
A murderer?
How was that even possible?
This is getting out of hand.
The door creaked open, and Samuel and Stefan walked in.
"How are you doing?"
Alex looked up at them.
"Frustrated and miserable."
They sat down facing him.
"You really fucked up this time."
Alex sighed.
"I don't wanna believe this or everything going on. Aunt Hannah, she can't be that kind of person. She's-"
Samuel leaned forward.
"I know, Alex. But maybe Damien might be right."
Alex snapped his head towards him.
"Hear me out. Damien isn't the type to say things like this."
"Samuel's right. Just find out the truth. But for now, you need to speak to Avery. You fucking shot her father."
