Samuel couldn't say for certain that he would be able to make the same choice.
Because he's not a soldier.
He's also not a person who thought about protecting other people whom he didn't know as his creed or anything like that.
He couldn't do it.
Samuel knew this very well.
His personality was inherently more selfish and greedy. Otherwise, he would not have become a businessman and was known as the black hearted merchant. Many people didn't want to deal with him because he would definitely pursue profit to the greatest extent.
Though, the Jones Family still thrived.
After all, Samuel knew how to balance things well.
So while they felt that they had lost something, the benefit from the cooperation and so on was still very good. But their resentment led to them spreading ill words about Samuel, which was how his reputation was built back then.
