In an open area, Yoko and Dezeil had separated themselves from the others, their silhouettes outlined against the blue afternoon horizon. Kaiser, summoned to help, landed with a clatter of his boots.
"I'm here, Grandpa," he announced casually, his hands in his pockets.
"Good," Dezeil replied, his piercing gaze fixed on him. "You're going to be Yoko's test subject."
"What?!" Kaiser exclaimed, raising an eyebrow. "Couldn't you have called Areyos instead? He's good at being a test subject, and on top of that, he regenerates super fast!"
Dezeil pinched the bridge of his nose, an exasperated smile on his lips.
"I hate that kid," he muttered, his voice barely audible. "He's definitely Barrios's son."
A few meters away, Zendal and Barrios sat on some rocks, enjoying grapes as their laughter echoed softly.
"It's crazy to think Kaiser is just as annoying to his father as you were at his age," Zendal chuckled.
