My first few days after being born into this world were far from pleasant.
My supposed mother did not have one iota of knowledge on how to take care of new born babies. Due to which I had to cry every time just to get her attention, just so she could check on me.
But rather than being worried about on how she should take care of a young infant, she was rather much more annoyed by my presence. Ambra didn't know what things she needed to buy for a baby, what food I could eat and couldn't. She didn't even know she had to buy diapers for a helpless infant until I couldn't hold it any longer and had to shit in my own clothes.
As an adult that was the worst and one of the most embarrassing experience I ever had to suffer through, even if no one knew. I did not like that warm feeling, and the absolute horrible stench.
My personal take? 'Some people do not deserve to be parents.'
Not to mention that she hadn't thought about changing my clothes, the thin clothes I had worn since she took me out of the hospital that night.
Which she only changed after cleaning up my shit. And was horrible at it.
Also I couldn't exactly control my new body. An infant's body is not exactly developed enough or mature enough to move and is definitely not capable of digesting. The. FUCKING! CHOCOLATE SHE GAVE ME!!!
'I mean, I just woke up with a wet diaper this morning and even that felt way too wet. I am pretty sure I am having a diarrhea.'
'I definitely need to practice clenching my sphincter and bladder muscles early on or if it came to her, she might just leave me in my own shit on a bad day.'
Her uncaring nature continued for four days, which gave me plenty of time to observe the room from my basket.
I had spent the most of my first day basically observing my surroundings. The walls, were dull, depressed grey and had molds growing on them in the high corners. The wall in front of the couch had a glass panel, with some kind of a metal box connected to it, which was the TV of this era.
To the right of the Sci-fi TV, was a door to the outside world, while directly behind the couch was a large glass window to view at the outside world.
Sometimes when Ambra didn't want to look at me, she would place me behind the couch. From which I saw snowfalls during evening and well into night time. Which would make the room very cold, due to which the she would go to another room to turn some kind of heater on, I suspected that the room where the heater was in, was a kitchen of some sort.
Sometimes I would hear clattering of utensils coming from that room.
While during peak hours of sun it would remain sunny with an occasional rain.
I had seen her go outside once a day to buy food and alcohol, as most of her time was spent on surfing through channels on the projected screen and getting high.
I would get some sort of food on a wooden stick, which I would have to lick on to eat it. Although she would just tear the wrapper and put it in my mouth. I had to hold the food with my lips just to eat it properly, as I couldn't exactly control my arms properly yet. It was similar to an ice cream bar in texture and creamy.
This thing had a soft texture that with just enough saliva it would dissolve in my mouth, a bit too sweet for my preferences. But eating one of these was enough for one meal.
'Although I hate this woman because she doesn't give shit about her own new born baby, this food does taste great.'
'Is this due to me being born in a new body?'
'I mean it could be due to my body tasting food for the first time.'
When I tasted that chocolate for the first time I had almost cried due to how tasty it was.
While sucking on my food I would often watch the channels that would appear on the projected screen, sometimes she would watch news while often times she would watch entertainment shows.
"The Eastern Front continues to deteriorate as Orc forces advance westward from the Siberian territories. Russian forces have established defensive positions along several major corridors and are currently working to contain their advance."
"Meanwhile, a second Orc tribe has begun expanding its territory west of the Urals. Authorities in Kurgan and Tobolsk have advised residents to prepare for possible evacuation as fighting approaches the region."
"The Russian government has ordered a partial evacuation of several settlements east of the Ural Mountains as Orc forces continue their advance toward the region."
Or other things related to the advertisement for new version of some kind of magical machinery, beauty products and newer implants with better features.
'Although I hate being a baby and all that comes with it, but man am I seeing the world in a completely different way. Everything is so vibrant and saturated with colors.'
Of course in this old apartment there was nothing but shades of grey on the walls, black and brown color of couch. The only colors I could see came from the TV screen.
'But the sound is so loud and disorienting, is she playing the damn thing on full volume?'
I could finally understand why the new born babies would cry whenever they heard a very loud sound, it was very disorienting. Even I had to fight the urge to cry, as I still wasn't fully in control of my involuntary reactions.
While watching different channels with this drunk woman, I noticed she would often insulted men appearing on screen, especially the handsome ones. But the words she reserved for women were something on the level of a drunk sailor spewing profanities, except she herself was the drunk sailor.
"Hah. All these men are worthless. They can't even keep these aliens off our planet and they think they are some hot shit."
"Worthless, all of them are worthless. They all act dignified but in the end they all are just boy toys to other women."
hiccup
"Those sluts should just kill themselves. hic. Showing themselves off on live for people to watch and in the back, suck... suck haha on their bosses just to climb to... to get promoted. They all are pathetic! Haha!!"
She took another gulp, heavily intoxicated.
She glanced at me for a moment before turning back toward the screen.
"Ugh, why do they always have to make everything about themselves?"
'Man talk about hypocrisy. Listening to her makes me question her actions, are all gold diggers like this? Bitter and jealous?'
I asked no one, but it is really funny seeing her lose her cool like this. It reminded me of those gold digger prank videos on the videotube.
She would go on a rant for few minutes spending her energy on cursing, snickering and watching the news and then switch to an entertainment show, while watching she would doze off to sleep snoring.
As the first and second day went in this cycle, she slowly started to lose her cool.
She would start to show annoyed expression whenever she heard my cries for food or cleaning me after I had taken a shit.
'She is slowly starting look more annoyed as the days go on. I mean, I wouldn't even mind if she just left me in front of an orphanage. I bet they would at least take better care then her.'
One late night she was trying to tear open a wrapper, as she seemed to struggle for a reason.
'Woman I understand you are drunk and all, but you shouldn't be that physically weak even if you are high. Come on you can do it, I believe in you.'
I raised my hands towards her to show my support and trying to encourage her as I was also hungry. Her attentions fell on me and in an instant her drunk expression warped into pure anger as the wrapper was suddenly hurled it towards the TV.
Thud
My food still wrapped in plastic struck the glass screen with enough force to knock it loose from its mounting. The entire panel fell toward the floor.
Crash
As the glass shattered, I realized that there was a thin, almost translucent film was the actual display as the pixels glitched along its surface, while the glass was supposed to protect the display film. After shattering the thin display film was all bent wrong and broken.
"You damn little shit. You think I am being funny? huh!"
"You just eat, drink and shit. You are useless, just utterly fucking useless. Ahhhhh!"
She lost her shit and started to scream hysterically at me.
But my mind was only occupied with one thing.
'Oh, man... that was my dinner.'
I turned my attention away from the constantly glitching display with my food still stuck among the shattered glass and looked at her face, as she was berating me for being a baby. My eyes started to prick, that no amount of self-control could stop my reaction.
I started crying involuntarily, with no control I could only let my tears fall and let the strong emotions wash over me.
Meanwhile my mind was preoccupied with an entirely different thought, 'Man, can anyone be this useless? She is just too much.'
'I pretty sure this is the reason her so-called boyfriend left her.'
Ambra began shouting and screaming until she was out of breath, she began to wheeze as she struggled to catch her breath.
Cough...COUGH
'Yeah, that's what you get for screaming like a bitch.'
I slowly started to gain control over my wailings and emotions, as she suddenly picked up my basket and took me to a room next to the hallroom.
I gazed at the room, as I saw a small room with long shelves and two big machines.
A square shaped box of steel which looked almost like a washing machine or a fridge. As I observed Ambra reach into it and opened it to take out a bottle of alcohol. And then turned on the metal box next to fridge which spewed warm air into the kitchen as she retreated back. I realized it was a weird looking heater.
I started to realize my predicament, although I wouldn't have to worry about the cold. I was going to sleep hungry tonight.
'She definitely deserves to be called the worst mother. I have never thought I would miss being an adult and having my freedom.'
'Forget doing anything for few years. Am I even going to live a year in this world? With this kind of mother. I highly doubt I will make it past two months.'
I closed my eyes and put my doubts on the back burner, as I attempted to sleep to avoid my hunger pangs.
'Even if I didn't get my dinner today, at least tomorrow morning I won't have to wake up with a runny nose.' Those were my last thoughts before I slowly fell asleep.
***
'Nn... don't shake my bed Soliel.' I barely opened my eyes wide enough to see Ambra picking up my basket and placing it back near the couch.
I blinked away the sleepiness, gradually seeing things more clearly. She shoved the same baby food in my mouth before leaving the apartment.
After finishing my food, I let the stick fall from my mouth onto my clothes. I moved my wonky, unreliable arms and rubbed at my sticky mouth. My eyes wandered to the pile of glass and some wrapper lying among it.
'Heh, I guess that would teach her a lesson. I do wonder though, what is the cost of one of these things.'
'They shouldn't be too pricey or an average person like Ambra wouldn't have been able to afford it at all.'
Yawn
This body gets tired rather easily, especially after eating something.
'I think this cycle of eating and sleeping continues for the first two months, after which the young babies start sleeping less. I guess.'
As I slowly drifted into my morning sleep, I was suddenly awakened. As someone lifted me into their arms. I flailed around and got the feeling that this was not a dream.
'Wait... why is Ambra, suddenly so caring?'
I peeked open my eyes to get clear visual of what was happening only to see Ambra talking to a guy who was currently looking at the pile of shattered glass and bent display film as he turned it on and off.
'If Ambra is in front of me, then who is holding me?' I turned towards the face of my supposed holder and saw a robot holding me.
'Oh great, you couldn't take care of me. So you bought a robot.'
'Man, Ambra makes my past mother seem like saint by comparison.'
I observed it a bit more clearly, as it gently rocked me in it's arm.
'Well in the hindsight this robot would definitely be a better guardian than Ambra.'
'I hope my days to come, would be better than the past five days.', as I wondered what my future held for me.

Ch Facts: New born infants have a blurry vision and can only see roughly around 20 - 30 cm. Enough for a new born infant to recognize and remember their parent's face when they are held.
*Infants commonly experience digestive issues such as gas, reflux, hiccups, and changes in bowel movements because their digestive systems are still developing. Constipation can also occur.
As infant's immune systems are still developing, leaving them more vulnerable to certain infections. Breast milk provides not only nutrients but also antibodies and other immune-supporting components that help protect babies against some infections. However, this protection is temporary.
