Marcus, who was following Jason, made the introduction. "This is Director Samuel."
Jason felt an intense pressure from the man. He stood up automatically and offered his hand. "Hello Director Samuel. I'm Jason. It's nice to meet you."
Director Samuel's sharp eyes scanned Jason's face. His gaze was so heavy it made Jason want to look away, and the pressure in the room seemed to increase.
After a long moment, Samuel spoke. "Mr. Liu. I was told you insisted on meeting me to discuss your 'company' in person. I hope whatever you're about to say is extremely important. Wasting the time of State Security... well, I imagine you can't afford that crime."
Samuel was all business, getting straight to the point.
Jason took a deep breath to steady himself and nodded firmly. "Don't worry. What I'm about to say will definitely... shock you."
"I hope so," Samuel replied, his face unreadable. Still, he was curious. He'd personally reviewed the reports from Marcus and his team. The whole situation was too strange to ignore.
It was the only reason the head of State Security would take time out of his day for this meeting.
He turned to Marcus. "Marcus, you can go. I'll talk to him alone."
Marcus simply saluted, turned, and left, closing the door firmly behind him.
The two sat facing each other. Jason met Samuel's intimidating gaze, gritted his teeth, and decided to just say it.
"Director Samuel, everything I'm about to tell you is true. About a year ago, I accidentally got a... space-time portal. It's in my mind. Whenever I want, I can enter another world."
Even hearing those words, Samuel—a man who had seen countless crises—remained calm on the surface. But if one looked closely, his jaw was clenched tight.
Jason didn't notice. He just thought the man opposite him was truly worthy of being the head of State Security. That kind of composure was rare.
Jason continued, "I use the gate to travel to and from the world of Westeros. I bring modern goods there to make money, and I buy lumber in Westeros and bring it back here to sell."
"Wait." Samuel sat bolt upright, leaning forward. His eyes were sharp and filled with disbelief. He didn't even care about the "Westeros" part yet. "If what you're saying is true," he said, his voice suddenly urgent, "prove it. Right now."
Jason stopped talking, scratched his head, and nodded. "Okay."
And just like that, Jason vanished from the reception room.
Samuel, for the first time, lost his composure. He shot up from the sofa, his eyes wide.
He rushed to where Jason had been sitting, waving his hands through the empty air. He checked the entire reception room, behind the curtains, everywhere.
He couldn't find him.
He really disappeared.
Samuel stood there, mouth slightly open, his mind completely blank for several seconds.
In that moment, Samuel believed him.
Jason reappeared in his bedroom at Castle Black. He scratched his head, looked around, and grabbed the heavy wooden table, along with the distinctively-styled Westerosi wine jug sitting on it. He decided to take them both back.
THUD.
The heavy, solid wood table slammed onto the floor of the reception room.
CLANG.
The silver jug on top toppled over, rolled off the edge, and hit the ground with a metallic ring.
Samuel stared at Jason, who had reappeared just as suddenly. He looked at the heavy round table, and then at the intricate silver jug that had rolled to a stop at his feet.
He bent over, picked up the jug, and turned it over in his hands. The craftsmanship was, indeed, unique.
"So, Director Samuel... you see?" Jason said, looking at the man's shocked expression. He couldn't help but feel a little smug. Let's see the big leader keep his poker face now.
Samuel placed the jug on the table, a slight flush on his cheeks. He was visibly suppressing his excitement.
He nodded at Jason. "Very good. I believe you. Mr. Liu, please wait just one moment."
Samuel walked to the corner of the room, pulled out his phone, and made a call.
"Yes... I need to report to the Premier immediately... It's an emergency of the highest importance. I must speak with him now."
Soon, a slightly tired voice came over the line. "Old Song, what is it?"
Samuel knew it was late, but Jason's otherworld incident was too important. He quickly and briefly reported what he had just witnessed.
After listening, the voice on the phone became instantly serious. "I'll notify the other leaders and the think tank immediately. Get ready to start a secure video conference. We need to see this with our own eyes."
"Yes, sir!" Samuel replied.
He hung up and immediately activated the secure video conferencing camera in the room.
Meanwhile, the Premier was already instructing his secretary to get the other senior leaders on an emergency conference call.
When the projection screen lit up, Jason saw faces he recognized from television—the country's senior-most leaders. He was instantly excited and straightened his posture, nervously saying hello.
"Mr. Liu, please, don't be so formal," the Premier's gentle voice came through, which helped ease Jason's nerves. "We are... very curious about this ability of yours to travel to another world."
Another leader chuckled. "We old comrades were certainly shocked. An ability to travel to another world... it's pure science fiction! When I first heard it just now, I thought it was a joke."
"Exactly," said another, shaking his head with a wry smile. "To think this incredible, sci-fi ability is real... I'm just stunned."
The other leaders all murmured in agreement. But they hadn't seen it for themselves yet, and they were desperate to confirm it.
"Okay, leaders. I'll go back to the world of A Song of Ice and Fire and prove it again," Jason said, taking a deep breath as his tension slowly faded.
He grabbed the table he had just brought over... and vanished.
When he reappeared moments later, he had brought back both the table and the bed from his room at Castle Black.
In an instant, every single leader on the video screen was speechless.
