(Joseph's POV)
The conference room was quiet—too quiet.
I sat across the long oak table, hands clasped together, elbows resting on the polished surface. The city skyline beyond the glass walls was sharp and clear, but his thoughts were anything but.
Across from him sat Attorney Brent Dawson and two senior partners from the firm—faces composed, expressions professional. This was not the first crisis they had handled, nor would it be the last. But to me, this one felt heavier than any hostile takeover or shareholder revolt.
"Let's begin with the facts," Brent said calmly, sliding a thin folder toward him. "Miss Dianne Jenkins claims she is six weeks pregnant. She presented an ultrasound and a medical report."
My jaw tightened.
"Yes," I replied. "She showed it during our meeting."
Brent nodded. "Whether the pregnancy is later confirmed or not, the claim itself already exists. From a legal standpoint, we must assume it is true until proven otherwise."
