Azrael didn't care who had sent them. Curiosity was the only thing that stirred in him now. Demons, the damn pig race, had carved their own hierarchy out of blood and fear. A thousand years ago, they had meant nothing to him. Cannon fodder. Test subjects screaming under his hand.
He had once injected a Strogoi parasite into a demon's testicle, simply to see how long the creature would survive. The parasite grew into a homunculus, feeding on its host until nothing remained but a husk. He remembered the screams fondly.
Just one of many sins in his ledger against the celestials. Countless others sat buried, so deep even he had lost count.
'Hmm. Maybe that's part of why they hate me so much.'
Azel raised a brow. This man had read their purpose the moment they stepped through the gate. Intimidation had crossed his mind, but he let the thought die. Not wise, not against strength that stayed hidden behind that easy smile.
It might spell doom for all of them.
Xyron broke the silence.
