Liam stood on the rooftop of Veyrhold's central structure with the night breeze moving lightly against his face.
The roof beneath his boots was cracked in several places, its stonework uneven from age and weather, but it held his weight well enough. He had already gathered what mattered from inside: the book, the loose sheets, the partial records, and the fragments that pointed toward the old coordination system. All of it was in Void storage now, tucked away where damp air, loose hands, and curious students could not damage it before he brought it back to Sheila.
He was not foolish enough to walk through a half-secured district openly carrying a stack of old documents as if inviting someone to ask questions.
