Chapter 47 - Calamity.

Present Times, Rovan Empire's Western Border.

"Hey, Dale, what do you think about this guy, Aurelian?" A soldier said as he stood on his post. It was night, and he was on guard along with thousands of his colleagues. The wall was thick, 40 meters wide and 120 meters tall. It reached the depths of the earth itself; it had never been breached, and it was impossible to breach it.

"They say he is the strongest Expert alive. Honestly, that is true. I heard the War Marshal even calling him a genius of war, even before he reconquered their holy city. Still, he would not have had to do that if their men knew how to fight." Dale replied beside him as he gazed down, making sure that there were no attempts

"Haha, of course, of course. They are not the Ronovan Empire. Our enemies have amassed millions of enemies here, yet they have not breached it for hundreds of years. At least our Empire benefited from what happened in the East. We invaded and looted a lot while their higher-ups were gone. The Dark Side has been had, while our Allies have been rebuilding their city for three months already!"

'Vroooooooooooom!'

"Charles! They need support on; they have attacked again at the same place! Ten of you are to remain here; if there is anything, sound the alarm. Charles, you are responsible for this one kilometre!" A soldier came in a hurry as he requested backup. The Unclaimed were at it again, same spot, same drill.

Millions of soldiers were mobilised, while around 10 were left on each kilometre. Below them, even more soldiers were ready to join the fight if there was an escalation of the situation.

Charles, the man who had been talking in the first place, was disappointed as his talking buddy was now gone, yet he would fulfil his duty as he had for the past five years. The Unclaimed were a nasty folk, one of the three major forces in the world.

The Human Order were the two Empires and their kingdoms, led by their respective gods. They had mythical creatures of the light and fire, stone and wind.

The Dark Side were otherworldly invaders, Dark Elves brought by the foreign God of Darkness. They had brought their hordes, consisting of orcs and goblins. They corrupted pure creatures of myth, as well as many tribes of The Unclaimed, adding more numbers to their ranks.

The Unclaimed were the Chittara, Lizardmen and Rattakins. They had dragons on their side, even if the elves enslaved most of them, and many other mythical creatures. What they did have besides giants now were their massive armies. They multiplied like bugs, rats and lizards - because they were such.

Thankfully, they did not boast great intelligence; rarely would they have one or two intellectuals, yet they were a strong foe in battle. The Chitterlings, led by their queens, had the best coordination that an army could ever hope for, while the Lizardmen and Rattakin boasted great agility and force.

"Ah man, damned rats again...they've been hitting the same spot for thirty years...nothing will come out of it," Charles said as he gave a sigh.

'Slap'

A hand suddenly landed on the edge of the wall, startling him.

"Sound th-"

"I am human, you imbecile!" A man in his forties climbed up and used his aura as a Master.

"Apologies, My Lord!" Charles bowed down while the rest of the soldiers gathered to do the same, leaving their signal horns unoccupied.

"What did you think I was, idiots? Did you think that... I am here to challenge dominion?" The human Master spoke as he seemed to pause on his last sentence. The moment he said those words, however, thunder was heard in the sky, and warm wind blew in their faces.

"What was that?!? I am sorry, my lord, please pardon our ignorance!" Charles bowed. The thunder startled him; however, he was soon brought back to reality. Everything was alright; it was a human Master, one of their own, definitely. All he had to do was show humility and be pardoned...punished at most, but he would live.

"It is okay, soldier. Tonight will be a lesson not just for you, but for the whole Empire itself. Rest now..." The Master waved his hand and beheaded all of the soldiers, their bodies falling.

"Now then...time to fly!" He jumped down, not outside of the border, but inside the Empire. Light insectoid wings appeared on his back as he raced for the ground. He had no time; by now, they would have most likely detected him!

He hit the ground, but stood up immediately, even if his human limbs were mangled and broken. Orianna and Arzon did not allow sentient bugs to fly, as it was against balance, yet he bore it, just enough to survive.

Explosives appeared in his arms; he ignited them and threw them near the wall, after which his body flashed at a distance away. A carapace appeared in front of him; it had golden symbols, and it seemed somehow royal, godly.

'crack'

The explosion was big; however, there was no sound of such. Not because it was a special explosive artefact, but because the wall was a living divine organism, created by a god. What was loud, loud enough for the whole Empire to hear it was instead the crack that was made.

His body flashed away, and he slipped inside the crack that was not massive, just wide enough for a human baby to slide in, and it was long, around 20 meters, becoming thinner and thinner...yet it was 15 meters deep into the wall. Multiple auras of masters were coming towards him, their speed divine as desperation had kicked in.

Cracking and other nasty sounds were heard as his body malformed; he could not fit...yet he forced it in, leaving a trace of nasty yellow blood all the way until he reached the end of the crack. He began laughing all of a sudden.

"STOP! NASTY VERMIN"

"DON'T YOU DARE!"

"NO!"

"HALT! NEGOTIATE!"

Multiple shouts were heard across kilometres as mighty voices travelled, yet the man, or whatever that was, simply laughed, with whatever mouth it now had left.

"I....AM....CALAMITY" his body detonated, yet there was no explosion...no. There was something more calamitous.

'CRACK'

The wall had been breached; horns sounded as millions of Unclaimed marched towards the now fifty-meter-tall and ninety-meter-wide crack of the Dominion Wall.

Calamity had come, challenged and destroyed. He perished, as he was meant to; however, his legacy will echo across the centuries.
