Chapter 27 - No Prisoners

Brandon was leading his cavalry with a heavy heart. He had taken a detour to stay out of sight, but he knew that behind him stood Greenwatch Keep. It was held by his brother, Johnson and the siege there was at its peak...He could not help his brother; his orders were to head for Emberwall and assist Viscount Terrance and Baron Linley, who had retreated from their respective fortresses and were now relieving the siege on Emberwall, which was held by Commander Varian.

Johnson, forgive me...I pray Mograine reaches you on time.

His heart was heavy, but he charged, slicing through enemies as he reached the enemy commander. The enemies here were in a poor state, as they had not expected their enemies from Serpentwall Castle and Dawn Fort to retreat, regroup and hit them in the back here at Emberwall. Now they were sandwiched between 10,000 men who were manning the castle and 20,000 who had hit them in the back with a vicious charge. To top it off, now cavalry had joined, securing victory for the enemy and their death.

Without much thought, the orcs laid down their arms as their general surrendered, allowing himself to be captured.

"Brandon! What is the situation at Iron Reach?" Viscount Terrance shouted as he was making his way through the now captured enemies. Armless and defenceless, the battle had been won.

"I don't know, Terrance...I don't. All I saw was the charge!" Brandon said with helplessness in his tone.

"Make way! I am a messenger! Make way, fast! Scout you rat, get in line!" A man on horseback was screaming and putting Mograine soldiers in line as he was making his way towards the gathering of the commanders - Terrance, Brandon, Baron Linley and Commander Varian. They were all soaked in blood, but he could recognise them, as they had removed their helms.

"The Young Marshal has lifted the sieges on Iron Reach and Greenwatch. The enemies are being slaughtered, their generals dead! I have been sent in advance to convey a message. By now, the battles should have ended. The whole infantry will soon arrive, along with its archers. The command is clear: Separate the Army into two and lay siege on Serpentwall and Dawn Fort. Mograine is leading the cavalry; stage two has begun. Viscount Terrance, Baron Linley, you will lead the armies!" The messenger said his words; there was more, however, the cheers of the army made it impossible for him to continue.

"QUIET WORMS! I AM NOT DONE! THE DEPUTY MARSHAL HAS A LAST MESSAGE TO CONVEY - NO PRISONERS, SLAUGHTER THEM!"

Upon hearing him, the faces of the ugly green orcs despaired, the Chitarra's shells cluttered, while Rattakins tried to run away.

"You can't do that, huma-!" The Dark Elf who had led this 32,000-strong horde was about to protest; however, a sword cut his cries short. Brandon was the perpetrator. The soldiers did not wait for further commands after the messenger's outburst. Slaughter unfolded, while smoke rose behind them. The rest of the army had arrived, led by no one but Johnson and Ben.

"Valtherion, Dain, are you injured anywhere?" Luther asked as the two lads were behind him. The 7,000-strong cavalry was heading towards their new targets, leaving a trail of blood in their wake.

"Well...besides the blood and dirt in my eyes, I am alright, Godfather..." Valtherion said as he removed his helmet, revealing his blackened nose and under-eyes. The helmet kept his head safe, but there were openings through which he had to see.

"Same here...it tastes like shit..." Dain said as he removed his own helmet; his blonde hair was now stained red, as blood dripped all over.

"Bahahaha! That's the spirit. Well fought, both of you. Let's take that elfling's head. We have to give his Immortal Father a reason to grieve his long life..." Luther said as he laughed. He, too, was covered in grime; however, he was the veteran among the three of them, and both of them listened to him, stuck close.

"Uncle, who is this immortal guy?" Valtherion asked; he had no clue who that elf was.

Luther sucked in a breath before beginning to speak. "He is an abomination. A mix of elf and a dragon. Possessing two hearts, as well as immunity towards magic, thus the name - Immortal Soul Seviras. His body is innately stronger than most elves. Thankfully, because of that, he has a hard time reaching the Master stage; otherwise, it would spell bad news for our Empire. He is extremely strong and guards the once ours Holy City. Thankfully, we don't have any work to do there." Luther said, emphasising the last part as he looked towards Valtherion.

"Well...we will see how that goes. I would like to avoid heading further west than needed. Look, we have arrived." Valtherion said, unaware of Luther's expression shifting.

"Lord Kaelstraz! We are under fire; we are losing men every second! Dawn Fort is under heavy siege and broken through! We have to retreat; there is no word of our other forces!" A goblin was on his knees as he looked at the towering Dark Elf. He was almost two meters tall, his long hair reaching his waist. At the moment, he was drinking blood, feeling the pleasure so much that his long ears shook with each gulp. His dark face had scales here and there, while his armour was made of black spikes.

"Nasty vermin! No loyalty, none of you!" Kaelstraz exploded as his hand slammed into a table, causing it to collapse.

"Who is leading them, vermin? Who?" Kaelstraz suddenly picked the goblin by the throat, making him unable to talk. Without releasing his grip, he died, unable to convey anything.

"It is someone of the Mograine family. Call your men off, retreat to Gadgeztan. Your brother is leading 200,000 of our forces. You've been had; do not stand in the way of our plans, Kaelstraz." A dark elf woman was sitting behind him as she sipped blood and parts of flesh; she was eating something unknown, most likely a dead human...

"You...My father will see that your demise is done, Valeria! Sound the retreat, get me my worg!" Kaelstraz strode outside, as he handled the reins of a massive wolf. The enemies were sieging the front, but there was still the back that was available to retreat. Most of his forces would perish, but it did not matter. He would live.

The gates opened as his hordes seeped out; he was leading the way along with his father's advisor, Valeria. Had it not been for her position, he would make her live a living hell. A weakling dared to speak to him in such a way that was unheard of...

"We are being ambushed! Cavalry on our right flank!"

Kaelstraz had time only to hear it, as a collision shook the whole army, all the way towards him. He saw two experts at the front, passing through his army. Taking out his sword, he nudged his worg to move. With his two hands glowing in dark energy, he raised his sword and slashed downwards towards one of the men who was leading the charge on a white horse that now seemed black.

A clang and a painful neigh were heard as the strike was blocked by the raider; he had raised his spear with two hands, letting the spear absorb the impact; however, the Steed beneath him gave in, as the strength of an Expert with dragon bloodline was not something it could handle.

The man was falling along with his horse, but just before he did, he dropped the spear and unsheathed his sword before stabbing it into Kaelstraz's Worg. Both of them now fell atop each other, but there was no time to spare as they moved away and grabbed their weapons.

'Clang'

Another collision rang as the dark spear blocked the massive black sword. The human had taken three steps back; however, he was fine.

How is a Novice Human not giving in under my Expert's power?

Kaelstraz was shocked for a second, but there was no time, as a spear stab was coming for his throat.
