Chapter 516: The Gift That Delivered Itself

Whoosh!

Annoyed, Ashes pushed Morak's hand away and hesitated for a long time before motioning lightly toward the rear.

The gray dwarf soldiers hidden nearby retreated silently on tiptoes.

Morak grinned mischievously and snuck away.

His eyes darted around, drool trickling from his mouth as he muttered softly to the silent Ashes:

"We've got plenty of food; there's no need to charge head-on right now."

Too lazy to respond to this glutton, Ashes pulled out a communication scroll and sent an alert to the other end:

"The enemy is here and will arrive at the ambush site in three hours."

Ashes waited a while and received a reply:

"Hold position and observe if the enemy has additional reinforcements."

"Return to encircle them in 12 hours."

Receiving the command, Ashes relaxed, glancing at the other gray dwarves and staring absently at his roughened hands.

Morak patted him on the shoulder, his eyes gleaming with envy as he casually muttered:

"Don't overthink it. There's no point. Your job is to lead our kin and survive."

"Not like me. I eat my fill, and that's all I need."

Reflecting on Morak's words, the terrifying figures he had seen, and the unprecedented strength surging within him, Ashes nodded silently.

To live is to have a future!

To die is to have nothing left.

Twenty kilometers away.

At the mouth of a narrow canyon, Bay Territory soldiers were inspecting their gear, ready for battle.

Jifan, his expression resolute, reviewed the combat techniques he had recently learned. Standing quietly at the canyon's edge, he pointed to the distant entrance and said:

"In about three hours, drow scouts will arrive. Ensure they are all eliminated and that our forces and tactics remain concealed."

Gently plucking her bowstring, Feili nodded confidently:

"No problem. Leave it to us."

This was a test. If Feili succeeded,

not only could she eliminate the enemy, but she would also gain the opportunity to lead a unit on her own.

Eager to grow, Feili harbored a determination not to be left behind.

Leaving the main battlefield, Feili led her team toward their designated position.

It was a winding, narrow cave entrance, about ten meters in diameter, pitch black inside, illuminated by torches and glow sticks.

Once back, Feili double-checked the traps, ensuring there were no flaws, before turning to the silent Sera and asking:

"What other tricks might they use?"

Unaccustomed to Feili's straightforwardness, Sera found her trust unsettling.

Other drow would never trust anyone, let alone seek help.

Sera was no exception. She instinctively kept her distance to protect herself.

If I have no friends, then no one can betray me!

Yet, facing Feili's question, Sera never held back. After brief contemplation, she replied:

"Watch the ceiling…"

Feili's eyes lit up at this, nodding enthusiastically and exclaiming:

"Ah, why didn't I think of that? Plus, they might take an unconventional route. They might even fly!"

Listening to Feili's arrangements, Sera glanced at the dark cave entrance, picturing the enemy's approach, and exhaled deeply.

The upcoming battle would determine if she could remain in Bay Territory and carve out a path for her future.

Sera had never been one to blame the heavens or others—such a mindset was a death sentence for a drow.

About five hours later.

The main canyon battle commenced.

The sounds of fierce fighting echoed below.

Feili forced herself to stay calm.

Her mission was no small task—she had to block the drow's flanking forces to ensure her comrades' safety.

"Ah…!"

A piercing scream suddenly echoed from the dark passage.

Feili instinctively wanted to rise, but Sera's earlier reminder held her back.

She had to determine the enemy's type and numbers first!

Different enemies required different tactics.

Whoosh!

A searing fireball suddenly lit up the dark tunnel.

A wave of heat brushed against Feili's face as she nervously eyed the crater left behind, remaining vigilant and unmoving.

If the enemy doesn't show themselves, I won't move!

Step into my traps already!

While Feili prayed silently, Sera, who had been motionless nearby, suddenly dAshesed out of cover.

Drawing a curved blade from her back, she slAshesed at seemingly empty air.

Clang!

A sharp metallic ring sent sparks flying in all directions.

The shattered blade spun through the air, carving a gory path as it sliced flesh.

The bisected corpse hit the ground, blood splattering everywhere.

Sera sidestepped gracefully, avoiding the spray.

The sudden appearance of the enemy prompted Feili to shout:

"Light!"

A blinding flAshes illuminated the entire tunnel.

No incantations, no magical fluctuations.

The sudden activation of a triggered item caused unprepared drow assassins to scream in agony.

Though they hadn't revealed themselves, their cries betrayed their positions.

Prepared drow-modified warriors immediately loosed their arrows.

Over six drow assassins were struck by arrows, their concealed forms falling amidst pained cries.

Realizing their cover was blown, more drow soldiers surged from the tunnel.

Sera charged ahead, blade in one hand, whip in the other, darting forward with agility.

SlAshesing with her curved blade and swinging her whip,

Sera combined her nimble movements with terrifying strength and devastating attacks.

Every drow who fought her had their weapons shattered or was beheaded, or was whipped into a bloody pulp like a sandbag.

The blend of power and agility made Sera's combat prowess staggering.

With a challenge rating of 19+, she effortlessly crushed these mid-tier drow.

Watching her formidable opponents fall one by one, Sera realized just how much the surgical enhancements had bolstered her. A bloodthirsty grin spread across her face.

"Thanks to you fools for serving as my proof of loyalty to this territory."

"Each one of you I kill earns me over 100 merit points. Soon enough, I'll regain my position as a commander…"

"Thank you for this generous gift. When I return to Mublesso City, I'll end those fools' reign once and for all!"

Bang!

With a snap of her whip, Sera crushed another drow soldier's neck.

Her ruthlessness left Feili wide-eyed in awe.

Damn, she's fierce!
