Chapter 501: Ode to Life
Time Stop!
A simple yet overwhelmingly dominant spell instantly halted the worsening of Orianna's condition.
Victor stared blankly at Matthew, who exhaled deeply, and at the tower spirit casting spells with a wave of its hand, unable to fully process what was happening.
"This is the tuition fee for my teacher. Please accept it with peace of mind."
The tower spirit, programmed not to refuse tuition, mechanically accepted the spatial equipment Matthew handed over, inspecting it meticulously before smiling softly and saying:
"Two hundred high-quality spatial crystals. The master will certainly love them."
Matthew nodded noncommittally, then gestured apologetically to Victor:
"Wait for me a few minutes. I'll contact my teacher and the territory to prepare for Orianna's surgery."
Victor, who had been secretly observing the floating tower, nodded somewhat absentmindedly.
Before he could react, Matthew had already entered a nearby room and slowly closed his eyes.
Bay Territory.
In his laboratory, Matthew slowly opened his eyes and immediately cast a communication spell to contact Old Li and Sun Sheng.
These were likely the only two people capable of saving Orianna.
Old Li and Sun Sheng, seemingly aware of the urgency, promptly replied to Matthew.
Old Li: "I can only barely stabilize her condition. It would require a material like the Fruit of the Tree of Life for a complete cure."
Sun Sheng: "It will take a ninth-tier legendary divine spell—Ode to Life—which requires prayers to the goddess."
Matthew wasn't surprised by Old Li's response; druids excelled at healing...
But for a unique case like Orianna, there was little they could do without reaching the legendary tier.
As for Sun Sheng's reply, Matthew pondered briefly and understood the subtext.
This was a transaction.
Without hesitation, and to secure exceptional talent, Matthew was willing to pay the price. He replied to Sun Sheng:
"Please pray to the goddess as soon as possible. Let me know if you need anything."
"Contribute 10 million soul fragments to the goddess."
At the mention of a cost in the tens of millions of gold coins, Matthew licked his lips, thought for half a second, and agreed.
Any problem that could be solved with money wasn't truly a problem.
At the same time, Matthew placed greater value on the seemingly insignificant soul fragments.
Anything the goddess required was bound to hold significant value.
"No problem. Once the materials arrive, we'll begin immediately."
Receiving Sun Sheng's confirmation, Matthew breathed a sigh of relief and beckoned Yaya over with a smile, saying:
"Let's go witness a miracle together."
Before Yaya could respond, Matthew had already sent his consciousness back to Sevinton.
Acting swiftly, Matthew relayed the situation to Victor.
Victor stared at him in shock, his already overwhelmed mind sinking further into joy.
Half an hour later...
With the help of the tower spirit and spatial transference, Victor and Orianna arrived in Bay Territory, escorted by Beelzebub, toward the Goddess Church.
Victor had no time to observe Bay City, anxiously watching his unconscious daughter and silently praying:
"Oh great goddess, your faithful servant prays with devotion..."
Beelzebub stood nearby, vigilantly scanning the surroundings to ensure no potential danger.
The journey passed without incident.
The paladins of the Goddess Church awaited at the entrance.
Leading them, Sun Sheng, saw Orianna being brought over, a wave of questions flashing through his mind before he pushed them aside.
Inside the grand cathedral, dozens of priests chanted ceaselessly, holy energy permeating the air.
The white statue of the goddess emitted a faint golden glow, too radiant to look at directly.
Watching his daughter being placed before the goddess statue, Victor silently closed his eyes and began to pray earnestly.
Unnoticed by him, Matthew and Yaya observed the scene from behind, quietly awaiting the appearance of the legendary divine spell.
The pale-gray soul fragments gradually vanished under the golden radiance.
The already luminous statue grew even brighter.
Mira, adorned in ceremonial attire, chanted solemnly.
The golden light slowly enveloped her, converging into her brow bit by bit.
The sacred aura transformed Mira, making her seem like an entirely different person.
Watching this, Sun Sheng also lowered his head slightly as the surging golden light continued to intensify.
From his vantage point, Matthew could clearly see that the seemingly chaotic golden light was gradually forming a cohesive structure.
It was outlining something akin to a spell array, slowly accumulating power.
The energy would guide the goddess to pierce through the barrier and descend upon the world.
Matthew didn't harbor much resistance to the goddess's "descent."
He reasoned that compared to the Goddess of Magic, who only sought to spread faith and develop spells, the other awakening deities posed far greater threats.
As Matthew pondered, the surging golden light followed Mira's raised hand, gently pressing against Orianna's chest.
Countless streams of golden light poured into Orianna's body.
Mira resembled a miniature sun, radiating boundless light and heat.
Everyone in the cathedral grew fervent.
Their chants grew louder, and the golden glow became ever more dazzling.
Matthew couldn't look directly and heard waves of chanting in his ears.
Yaya shut her eyes tightly, refraining from peeking, and clung to Matthew's sleeve.
The process lasted about ten minutes.
As the golden light faded and the indescribable pressure lifted, Matthew smacked his lips and muttered:
"Deities... truly unviewable."
Yaya rubbed her eyes cautiously and nodded in agreement.
Even the residual aura of the goddess's presence made Yaya feel an overwhelming sense of helplessness.
She blinked softly, resolving to study harder and eat more.
After igniting Yaya's fighting spirit, Matthew turned to look at Orianna, who was slowly opening her eyes.
The unfortunate little girl stretched comfortably, gazing dazedly at Mira, who radiated faint golden light, and murmured:
"Wow, big sister, you're so beautiful!"
A glimmer of gold flashed in Mira's eyes as she smiled faintly at Orianna, gently stroking her forehead.
Exhausted, Orianna yawned, rubbed against Mira's hand, and fell into a blissful sleep.
As Mira's light dissipated, she glanced at Matthew and Yaya.
Matthew rubbed his nose, faint whispers echoing in his ears:
"As you wish!"
Should he consider relying on the Goddess of Magic?
