Chapter 479: Learning with Resources

After carefully inspecting the Abyssal Rift and confirming there was no immediate risk of expansion,

the Grand Arcanist meticulously set up multiple formations in the surrounding area.

With Matthew's knowledge of Arcanists,

these formations likely included detection, alert, and surveillance functions.

The ease with which Cronorman handled this task was directly tied to his responsibilities.

As the head of the renowned Netheril Inspection Unit,

his role was to investigate and resolve crises threatening the Netheril Empire.

Clearly, this wasn't Cronorman's first encounter with the Abyss.

In Matthew's memory, the Netheril Empire had shown little resolve in resisting subsequent disasters.

They allowed these crises to grow and spread, weakening the empire's strength and potential bit by bit.

This ultimately led to the empire's disintegration and its peculiar demise.

But as Matthew delved deeper into the realities of the Netheril Empire,

especially after seeing Cronorman's calm response to the assassination plots against him,

he began to entertain a bold idea.

Perhaps, unknown organizations and individuals had been fighting relentlessly all along.

And the seemingly irrational, desperate actions were merely the last results of their struggles.

Matthew's speculation was dark,

but it felt like an inevitable truth.

While Matthew mulled over these thoughts,

Cronorman completed his inspection of the Abyssal Rift.

Ignoring the imps crawling out, he watched the adventurers hunting them with great interest.

"They're intriguing. How will you address their psychological problems?"

Combat strength is one thing, but resisting madness is equally crucial when fighting the Abyss and its demons.

Cronorman had seen many powerful professionals, skilled at slaying demons.

Yet, most eventually succumbed to corruption, losing their minds or falling into depravity.

They became the very things they once despised.

Few escaped this fate.

This scarcity of stable demon hunters persisted,

especially when smaller demonic incursions failed to provide the pressure needed to forge elite hunters.

Though phrased as a question, Cronorman's words were more of a warning.

But Matthew wasn't just anyone.

Among all the beings on the Material Plane, Matthew considered his knowledge of the Abyss, Hell, and the Heavens unmatched.

Hearing Cronorman's question, Matthew responded earnestly:

"It's simple: first, ensure every soldier knows that demons and devils are real."

"Second, teach them how to kill demons and devils."

"And third, most importantly, never 'trust' them. Use systems and rules for purification!"

Meeting Cronorman's puzzled gaze, Matthew hesitated but then elaborated.

He shared methods derived from the collective experiences of players and future organizations for combating demonic corruption.

'Holy Light Purification':

Subject everyone exposed to demonic influences to a round of Holy Light cleansing—no exceptions.

'Mental Fortification':

Educate soldiers about the tricks and schemes of demons. Create an environment that eliminates their fears and doubts.

Without extreme desires, their rationality is harder to break.

'Faith Anchoring':

Cultivate unwavering faith in something—be it gods, ideals, or principles—to anchor thoughts and resist madness.

Churches had a natural advantage here since gods were inherently strong sources of "spiritual influence."

Other organizations could rely on slogans and missions, with effectiveness varying based on execution.

From player experiences, a combination of action and belief yielded the best results.

As Matthew detailed these approaches, Cronorman scrutinized him closely.

With a brief moment of contemplation, the Grand Arcanist recognized the feasibility of these plans.

Not because he blindly trusted Matthew, but because he had already mentally calculated their potential.

The results looked highly promising!

This realization left Cronorman deeply impressed by Matthew.

What the empire had painstakingly researched for centuries, Matthew casually summarized in moments.

Curious, Cronorman spent over two hours observing.

He repeatedly checked the Bay soldiers and adventurers undergoing "purification."

After confirming the effectiveness, he excitedly sent out several communications.

Once finished, Matthew and Yaya invited him to Bay Territory,

planning to surprise the Grand Arcanist with an unforgettable feast.

After ensuring his satisfaction, Matthew discreetly rewarded the kitchen staff, instructing them to prepare extra portions for storage.

By evening, the much-anticipated teaching session began.

But Matthew and Yaya were stunned.

Cronorman didn't teach them any advanced spells. Instead, he handed them two books and said, "Study these."

"Gravity"

"The Power of Time"

Initially disappointed, Matthew's mood shifted after a quick glance at the books.

The reason? The books were superlative-tier magical tomes, according to his system!

Moreover, Cronorman didn't just hand them books and leave.

He introduced foundational principles and taught them a few simple spells.

Both of them had extraordinary comprehension (thanks to investing destiny points).

Even with the profound subjects of gravity and time, they achieved foundational mastery within two weeks.

Though Matthew and Yaya felt this wasn't fast enough, Cronorman was secretly overjoyed.

Among all his disciples, Matthew and Yaya's learning speed wasn't just impressive—it was leagues ahead of anyone else.

Even advanced Arcanists struggled to grasp gravity and time.

Some things couldn't be achieved by effort alone.

They required... 'resources'.

For Matthew and Yaya, this meant investing in destiny itself.
