Two decades had passed after the Second Great War. Over the years, the United Alliance of Countries (UAC) built telegraph lines and electric street lights in the Lightning, Fire, and Earth regions. The Miyamoto railway was still under construction having connected the Lightning and Fire countries. Most architecture in Nihon now comprised brick and concrete in lieu of the timber structures. Artisans also helped abolish the strict class systems that had existed in the other UAC members.
In Denki city–the Lightning capital, Kazuo's children; Shiori and Kazuto were now eighteen and sixteen. Shiori had joined the Battalion Corp and Kazuto was about to graduate from Kazutaka Ninja University (KNU). Kazuo's numerous duties as Sage and Chancellor of KNU meant he rarely spent much time with his family. His wife, Mikoto, had become Head of the Battalion Corp and a part-time lecturer at KNU.
Professor Hideo Yamazaki, the Vice Chancellor of KNU together with Sage Kazuo, had opened the university for students from other regions in the UAC. This venture strengthened their relations and the allied fighting force. The Lightning country had scheduled a UAC summit to be held after graduation day. People came in their droves to attend the huge event and graduating top of his class was none other than the Sage's son—Kazuto.
In the twenty, mostly peaceful years, danger of another Shadow attack still loomed. That would be the major topic of discussion at the summit. Kagami and the Shadow region's reach extended to their Water, Grass and Rice colonies. The threat of a Shadow Empire ruling over Nihon was becoming a reality.
