Chapter 598 - Hera’s True Personality

Charlie's footsteps echoed softly as he traversed the pristine white marble floor along the corridor of the Great Temple of Olympia. Around him, ancient Greek-style pillars stood majestic, emanating a captivating and sacred aura.

Arriving at the heart of the Great Temple, Charlie took a deep breath. He steeled himself to approach a random priestess who happened to be passing by carrying a tray of offerings.

"Excuse me." He called out politely. "I would like to request an audience with Goddess Hera."

The priestess paused. She was a human girl with tan skin, long black hair, and blue eyes. She wore a pink dress with an orange ribbon that exposed her midriff.

Before the other party could respond to her confusion, Charlie immediately added a major revelation to bolster his reason.

"Please convey to her... that I am a member of the Hera Familia."

Unexpectedly, Charlie encountered no resistance whatsoever.

The girl merely blinked for a moment, observing Charlie from head to toe with a subtle, mysterious smile curling on her lips, before nodding softly and asking him to wait in a private reception room.

"Phew..."

Charlie exhaled a long sigh of relief. He had fully expected the priestess to instantly chase him out or laugh at his claim.

After all, it was common knowledge throughout the entire world that the Hera Familia was an intensely exclusive faction that accepted only females into its ranks.

However, there was one major factor that Charlie did not realize in the slightest.

The random priestess he had just spoken to was actually Goddess Prometheus, disguised as a human girl named Ilia. All this time, she had hidden her divine identity and acted as an ordinary priestess in her own temple.

Since Hera had taken up residence in Olympia after Charlie escorted her, naturally she and Prometheus knew each other exceptionally well.

In fact, Prometheus was thoroughly sick of hearing Hera endlessly show off her newest follower.

Hera had constantly boasted about how talented this new member was, to the point that the notoriously haughty, tyrannical goddess was willing to make a massive exception to accept a man into her Familia.

Charlie sat alone in a quiet, vacant room. He let his gaze wander around, admiring the intricate wall carvings.

Five minutes passed in silence.

SCREECH—!

Suddenly, the heavy oak doors in front of him swung wide open. A pair of firm, authoritative footsteps echoed nearer.

Hera walked into the room.

Her eyes widened briefly when her gaze fell upon the figure of the man sitting there. She truly had not expected that the person Prometheus spoke of was indeed Charlie.

Upon witnessing the presence of his Main God, Charlie immediately stood up from his chair. He bowed his head slightly and greeted her in an exceedingly respectful tone.

"Long time no see, Goddess Hera. How have you been during your stay in Olympia?"

"Hmph!"

Hera let out a soft snort, stepping forward with the elegance of an absolute empress. Her dominant aura instantly flooded the room, weighing down the atmosphere around them. She crossed both arms over her chest, glaring with a sharp gaze that demanded obedience.

"Of course I am living exceedingly comfortably here, Charlie! Who do you think I am, huh?!" Hera declared in the arrogant, tyrannical tone that was her trademark. "This place is Olympia, and not a single creature in this city dares to disturb my comfort. Let alone humans, even the gods here must yield to my will!"

Hera circled around Charlie, eyeing her male follower from top to bottom as if assessing whether anything had changed about the young man.

"When Prometheus came to me and said there was a member of my Familia looking for me, I immediately laughed at her."

"I thought it was merely a joke. But as it turns out... it really is you."

Hera halted her steps directly in front of Charlie. Her gorgeous eyes narrowed in deep scrutiny, radiating immense curiosity alongside suspicion.

"Tell me, Charlie. How could a mere human like you pass through the barrier enveloping Olympia?!"

It was only natural for Hera to fling that question.

It was worth remembering that Olympia was an independent nation completely isolated and shut off from the outside world. Not a single soul from a foreign territory could set foot on this holy land without special permission.

The main entrance and the entire border of the territory were guarded strictly twenty-four hours a day by the Order of Prometheus. Only specific parties who were officially invited or held direct permission from the order were allowed to cross that magical boundary.

For a lone adventurer like Charlie, breaching it was an impossibility.

"It is a very long story, Goddess Hera." Charlie spoke calmly, despite the oppressive aura in front of him being so formidable. "It would be better if you sat down first before we begin talking."

Hearing those words, one of Hera's eyebrows arched upward. Instead of immediately erupting in anger, a faint, cold smile carved across her lovely face.

"You've grown quite bold talking like that to me, haven't you, Charlie?" Hera snorted, her tone sarcastic yet laced with a tinge of satisfaction. "It seems your progress in strength since we parted has been significant enough for you to have the nerve to order me around."

Without wasting another moment, Hera turned her body around and walked toward the luxurious sofa positioned in the center of the room. She sank onto it with breathtaking grace.

Hera truly possessed a fierce, authoritative leadership style.

According to Alfia—one of the strongest executives in the famed Hera Familia—Hera was a supremely arrogant goddess who perpetually acted like a dictator or a true tyrant. Alfia had even once referred to her as 'the most difficult woman to flatter or win over.'

Charlie sat back down in the chair across from the Goddess. He gazed intently at the woman who was his Main God. Hera's current personality felt somewhat different from his last memory of her.

(It's not that Goddess Hera has changed. She has simply reverted to her original nature from before.)

Amidst the silence, Charlie's memories suddenly flashed back to the past.

He remembered a moment when Aphrodite had tried to seduce and persuade him to leave the Hera Familia to join the Aphrodite Familia instead.

At that time, the Goddess of Beauty had unhesitatingly exposed all of Hera's dark sides to influence Charlie's mind.

Aphrodite had branded Hera as a crazy, psychopathic woman who was extremely prone to hysteria if even the smallest thing triggered her wrath.

And most terrifying of all, Hera was an acute yandere who held an extraordinarily dangerous obsession toward her husband, Zeus.

Hera's burning jealousy stemming from Zeus's womanizing ways was deeply ingrained, and this extreme possessiveness had even trickled down to all the female members of her Familia, who fiercely despised infidelity and philandering men.

Gulp.

Charlie swallowed hard with difficulty as he looked at Hera's cold face before him.

(If Goddess Aphrodite was telling the truth about her acute jealousy and hatred toward infidelity...)

(What kind of horrifying reaction would Goddess Hera display if she found out that I—the sole male member of her Familia—currently have a harem of four women at once? Will I be torn to shreds right on the spot?)

"Why are you standing there spacing out, Charlie?"

Hera's voice shattered Charlie's daydream instantly. The Goddess narrowed her beautiful eyes, resting her chin on one hand while staring at her follower with a intensely probing look.

"My intuition tells me that you were just thinking about something exceedingly rude regarding me in that head of yours. Am I right?"

Her tone was low, yet laden with a thread of threat that made the hairs on his neck stand on end.

Charlie flinched, but he quickly tried to master his facial expression. He immediately waved both hands in the air frantically, trying to diffuse the atmosphere that had abruptly grown chilling.

"Ah! No, not at all! That's merely your imagination, Goddess Hera."

"I respect you very, very deeply as my Main God. How could I ever dare to revile or think ill of you in my thoughts?"

Hera merely snorted softly upon hearing it, not entirely believing him, yet choosing not to press the matter further for the time being.
