Chris woke up on a cloudy morning, dark clouds gathering in the sky, as if reflecting the state of his heart. He felt a new heaviness, as if the shadows he had summoned in the previous days had left a deep mark on his soul. The words he had read in the ancient book echoed in his ear, as if they were reverberating: "All power has a price."
He walked out of his room and down to the streets of New Grey. The city was in chaos, as rumors were circulating about the appearance of a powerful dark being. People spoke of him with fear and respect, but Chris was not at ease. He knew that the power he had gained might be more of a curse than a gift.
He headed to an abandoned park he had frequented in his childhood. The trees were dense, and the air was charged with a mysterious energy. He decided to sit under an old tree, reminiscing. There was a sense of nostalgia for the days he had lived away from the darkness, but those days no longer existed.
As he was thinking, a familiar voice approached him. It was Lena, the girl who had always been kind to him at school. "Chris!" she called, looking surprised to see him in this place. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm thinking about things," Chris replied coldly. He didn't want to share his feelings with her, feeling like everyone around him didn't understand what he was going through.
"You have to be careful. Strange things are happening in the city," Lena said, her eyes reflecting genuine concern.
"I know," Chris replied, feeling heavy clouds gathering over his head. "But I can't back down."
Lena began to talk about the rumors she'd heard about shadow creatures, and how people were afraid to go out at night. But she didn't know that the person standing in front of her was the one behind those rumors. The lights were shining in her eyes, but Chris felt a bit nervous. He had to be careful.
"Why don't you come to my house? We can talk things out," Lina suggested, but Chris hesitated. He didn't want to dwell on the past, and he was also afraid that someone would find out the secret of his strength.
"I don't want to be a burden to you," Chris said, but he felt nostalgic for the days when he was Lisa's friend, far from everything.
But Lina didn't give up. "I'm here for you. Don't ignore me."
At that moment, Chris felt something shift inside him. He needed someone to understand him, but he was afraid that he would hurt her. "Okay, I'll think about it," he replied hesitantly.
As they talked, Chris began to feel something uncomfortable approaching. The shadows around him were moving, as if they were sensing his presence. It was clear that his powers were starting to get out of control. "Excuse me, I have to go," he said impulsively, and ran away.
He headed to his favorite spot, where he summoned the shadows. But this time, it was different. There was a sense of fear, as if the shadows didn't want to respond to him. He tried to call her, but he felt some resistance.
"Why don't you obey me?" he shouted, but there was no answer. The shadows danced around him, as if they were avoiding getting close to him. He began to feel anxious, as if something was threatening.
At that moment, he felt something heavy falling on his heart. He had to face himself, to decide whether to continue on this dark path or to look for light in his life. But how could he, while he was drawn to the darkness?
Chris decided to go home, trying to regain his composure. He felt that things were deteriorating quickly, and he had to make a decision. As he walked through the dark streets, he heard voices rising from afar. There was a group of young men gathered on the corner of the street, and they seemed to be arguing.
Chris paused, but something inside him pushed him closer. He knew this was an opportunity to experiment, to test his powers. He approached the group, and saw one of them bullying another. The young victim looked weak, and Chris felt an urge to help him.
But as he prepared to summon the shadows, he remembered Lina's words. "Be careful, Chris." He paused for a moment, but he knew he had a decision to make. Would he step in and use his powers, or would he stay away and let things go as they were?
At that moment, anger took over him. He decided to step in, summoning the shadows. "Show yourselves!" he shouted, and suddenly, shadows began to gather around him, as if they had responded to his call.
The atmosphere was charged with energy, and the shadows began to form into strange shapes. The group trembled in front of him, and when they saw what was happening, they retreated. Chris could feel the power coursing through his veins, but at the same time, he was afraid.
"Stop it!" Chris screamed, but his voice reflected his inner terror. But the young men didn't listen. They started to retreat further, as if they were afraid of the shadows surrounding him.
At that moment, Chris felt powerful, but he also realized that he couldn't control what was happening. The shadows started to move uncontrollably, as if they were looking for prey. "Enough!" he shouted, but he had lost control.
As he tried to regain control, he felt something rushing towards him from the shadows. There was a sense of danger approaching, and Chris didn't know how to save himself. He took a step back, trying to regain his composure.
But things were getting chaotic. The young men started to disperse, while the shadows around Chris grew larger. He felt like he had lost everything, and that he had become a monster in the eyes of others.
At that moment, an unexpected person stepped in. It was Lina, who had watched everything from afar. She approached him, her eyes filled with worry. "Chris, stop! You can control this!" she shouted, making him feel a bit calmer.
Chris felt something shift. Lina's words were enough to bring him back to reality. "I need you, Chris. Be you!" she shouted, and at that moment, Chris realized that he was not alone.
He slowly backed away, and the shadows began to fade. He had to regain control of himself, and realize that he could not rely on the darkness alone. Slowly, the shadows began to fade, as if they had surrendered to his will.
When the atmosphere calmed down, Chris looked at Lina, and found in her eyes something he had not felt in a long time: hope. "I'm sorry," he said, feeling ashamed. "I didn't want to be like that."
"Don't be so hard on yourself. We all have struggles," Lina replied gently. There was something in her words that made Chris feel comfortable. He did not have to be alone in this struggle.
As they stood together, Chris began to realize that the shadows weren't everything. There was light in his life, and he could use it. He had to learn how to balance his powers with his humanity.
"I'm going to try to be better," Chris said, feeling renewed determination. "I'm going to learn how to control the shadows, but I won't let them control me."
Lena smiled, as if she could see the hope in his eyes. "And I'll be here for you, no matter what."
Over time, Chris realized that this moment was a new beginning. He had to face the darkness, but he didn't have to do it alone. He had friends, and he had a new power.
Chris decided to learn how to use his powers properly, how to balance the darkness with the light. This was the true beginning of his journey, where he would face even more difficult challenges, but this time he wasn't alone.
With every step he took, he felt hope renewed in his heart, that he could be the person he wanted to be, a king of shadows, but also a human being.
