Monday morning arrived with a familiar sense of purpose.
Aurora stepped into her office shortly after eight, carrying a cup of coffee in one hand and her tablet in the other.
The revised contract had arrived on Friday, exactly as Adrian had promised. Her legal team had spent the rest of the day reviewing the fine print, and by the time she left the office, she already knew the agreement was likely to move forward.
The final approval had come through before the weekend ended.
Now there was only one thing left to do.
Sign it.
Aurora placed her coffee on the desk and glanced through the approval email once more before setting her tablet aside.
A knock sounded at the door.
"Come in."
Amaya stepped inside.
"Good morning, boss."
"Morning."
"Legal has cleared the agreement."
Aurora nodded.
"I saw the email."
"And Mr. Blake has arrived."
Aurora glanced at the clock.
"He's early."
"Very."
A faint smile crossed her face.
"Send him in."
Amaya nodded before leaving.
A few moments later, the door opened again.
Adrian Blake stepped inside, carrying a slim folder.
"Good morning, Miss Aurora."
"Good morning, Mr. Blake."
They shook hands before taking their seats.
"I trust everything is in order?" Adrian asked.
"My legal team has cleared the agreement."
"Excellent."
Aurora opened the folder in front of her.
"You made all the adjustments I requested."
"We wanted to make sure the final terms were satisfactory."
"They are."
Adrian nodded.
"Then I believe we're ready to finalise everything."
Aurora looked through the documents one final time.
The financial projections were exactly as revised. The funding timeline had been adjusted, the risk parameters had been clarified and the concerns raised by her legal team had been addressed.
She picked up the pen.
"I suppose there's no reason to delay it."
Adrian smiled.
"I agree."
Aurora signed the first page and continued through the remaining documents.
Once she finished, she slid the folder across the desk.
Adrian signed his copies before closing the folder.
He extended his hand.
"Then we have a deal."
Aurora shook his hand.
"We do."
"Congratulations."
"Thank you."
Adrian gathered the documents but didn't immediately stand.
"There is one more thing."
Aurora looked at him.
"What is it?"
"You'll be working directly with my employer throughout the project."
Aurora raised an eyebrow.
"Your employer?"
"Mr. Voss."
She nodded slowly.
"I see."
"He prefers to be personally involved in major projects, particularly during the early stages."
"That shouldn't be a problem."
"I didn't think it would be."
Aurora leaned back slightly.
"When will I meet him?"
"I'll arrange a meeting shortly."
"Good."
"He'll want to discuss the project with you personally once everything is underway."
Aurora nodded.
"I prefer direct communication when it comes to important projects."
"Then I believe you'll get along well."
Aurora smiled faintly.
"Is there anything else?"
"Not at the moment."
He stood.
"I'll have the remaining paperwork handled."
"I'll expect the project details as soon as they're ready."
"You'll have them."
Adrian turned towards the door.
"Have a good day, Miss Aurora."
"You too, Mr. Blake."
He left, closing the door behind him.
Aurora remained standing for a moment before returning to her desk.
The agreement was officially signed.
Another major project had been secured for her company, and if everything went according to plan, it could lead to even greater opportunities.
She sat down and opened her laptop.
There was still plenty of work to do.
For now, Mr. Voss was simply the person she would be working with on the project.
She had no reason to think there was anything more to it.
...
Later that afternoon, Martin stood inside a quiet room across the city.
His phone rested in his hand as he reviewed the latest information.
The instructions he'd received weeks earlier remained unchanged. Aurora King was to be protected. Her movements were to be monitored. And anything significant involving her was to be reported.
The door opened.
Martin immediately straightened as a man stepped into the room.
"Sir."
The man stopped beside the desk.
"Report."
Martin lowered his phone.
"She accepted the agreement."
The man remained silent.
"The contract was signed this morning."
A brief pause followed.
"Good."
Martin nodded.
"The protection detail is still in place. No one has noticed them."
"And her movements?"
"We're continuing to monitor them."
"Anything unusual?"
"Nothing significant."
The man nodded.
"Continue."
"Yes, sir."
Martin hesitated briefly.
"She'll be working directly with Mr. Voss on the project."
The man's expression remained unreadable.
"I know."
Martin nodded.
"Everything is proceeding as expected."
"Good."
The man turned towards the door.
"And Martin?"
"Yes?"
"Keep her safe."
"Understood."
The man left the room.
Martin remained where he was for a moment, looking down at his phone.
Aurora's schedule was already being updated.
Another day.
Another report.
And Aurora remained completely unaware that someone was keeping track of her movements.
...
Across Eldlyria, Mr. Voss sat behind his desk.
A document lay open in front of him.
His phone vibrated.
He picked it up and read the message.
Adrian: The agreement has been signed.
Mr. Voss looked at the message for several seconds before replying.
Mr. Voss: Excellent.
He placed the phone down and leaned back in his chair.
The project would soon begin.
And with it, he would finally have the opportunity to work directly with Aurora King.
He glanced towards the documents on his desk.
Everything was falling into place.
Outside the windows, Eldlyria continued moving beneath the afternoon sun.
For Aurora, it was simply another successful business agreement.
For Mr. Voss, it was the beginning of a new professional relationship.
And somewhere else in the city, a man Aurora had never met was making sure she remained protected.
Three separate worlds.
Three separate perspectives.
And for now, none of them appeared connected.
