The distance did not affect Page that much at all. She did not have any friends besides Carter in the first place, so she was not aware of this fully. She thought she was finally accepted and not seen as an outsider (she was originally from outside of the settlement when it was still a village). She did really think that far beyond that about things over then that.
Alya, as a result of taking her in, did not really have that many friends either, yet everyone just treated her casually as usual, so she did not notice the change either. Though the only difference between herself and everyone else in the settlement was merely who she was under. She was still under someone's influence; it just was not Reva, but instead her son Carter. He actively and willingly refused to do anything to influence his own mother. Carter and Reva did not clash because their desires were adjacent to each other. Both just wanted to be left alone; thus, they pretty much did that, neither disturbing the other.
Carter did and did not bother him, as he was not that friendly to that many of his fellow village natives in the first place either. So, when everyone became automatons, he did not really mind, as they were not really friends anyway, just acquaintances.
There was something different about Sani, though. He could not quite put his finger on it, however.
"She's starting to float away. Might want to catch her," Sani pointed out.
Page was indeed floating away from where they were in the lake towards the deep end at the moment. To which Carter quickly managed to recover her before she could.
"Does she always act to be surprised like this?" she asked.
"Depends; if the shock is big enough, it would probably happen to anyone. It's just what would cause it is not something you tell without it happening first," Carter told her.
"Come like that can..." Sani said.
Then Carter seemed to move so fast that she seemed to teleport in front of her and then flipped her around in a complete three sixty turn before settling back down, all within a single moment.
Sani just stood there, mouth open, as her system shut down from shock, just like Page's did.
"...happen.... Did I just happen to me?" Sani asked.
Carter then just looked at her.
"Come, do not leave me in the dark," she pleaded.
"You would not recall even if I told you. Though it seems you can at least guess what happened, though," he said, 'which is interesting for an automaton of her standing.'
While this was happening between the two of them, Page came back on and noticed the girl who had shocked her into going offline like that.
"What the hell was even that?" Page demanded from her.
"How come she seems to recall what happened to her?" Sani asked Carter.
"She and I are different. These things apply differently to us, those you," he told her.
"Of course, as I directly serve Lord Reva, the Southern Guardian, after all," Page said with a smug look on her face.
Sani then fell down to the ground laughing at this, and Crater, still within the lake on the very edge of it, did as well.
Angered, Page looked more pissed off than before.
"What's so funny, as that is not a joke, you know. My service to Lord Reva," Page demanded.
"Of course, but to claim that after just coming back online after being scared by someone you did not expect to appear behind you, though," Sani told her.
"She does have you there, as it is funny you did that," Carter said.
"Shut up, as I bet you did something to her to show off how easily it happened to her, though," Page said, looking at her with a smirk.
Carter just laughed some more, as this caused both Page and Sani to become mad at him as a result. Both were pissed at him for different reasons at this point, though.
"So your name is Sani, then?" Page said.
The trio was walking away from the lake, and she had introduced herself to Page.
"I have joined you two," she said proudly.
Page then looked at Carter while narrowing her eyes at him.
"It should be fine, as there's something about her that gives the feel that it would be," he told her.
"I can tell at least that much myself as well," Page sighed.
"....And that's how things happened, Mom," Carter told her.
"I heard about Sani, was it, from Cami recently. I do not see why she can not stay here, as you two need someone like her to hang around with," Alya said.
"Makes sense, as both mother and son do not seem to have many friends," Sani said.
"I know, right, as they never did really," Page replied.
"Hey, I have close friends....now. Cami and Myne are that for me," Alya exclaimed.
"Yeah, I have you two," Carter doubled down.
"The apple does not fall far from the tree," Page sighed.
"I know what you mean, my friend," Sani said, shaking her head while her eyes were closed.
"You two might want to get prepared," Myne said.
The unusually tall automaton had come over to visit, as she was bored at the moment. Cami was too busy with something, so she came to hang out with Alya instead. Thus, she was around when she saw what was happening.
Alya then grabbed both Carter and Page by the ear, then led them to where her garden was in the backyard area of their home.
Kicking them both outside, she said only two things to them:

Sani, meanwhile, was laughing at the two. When Alya came for her next and then dragged her out to the backyard too with Page and Carter. Repeat the same two words to her as well.
Garden Duty
"But..." Sani started.
"It's no use," Page said. "We're stuck with this for the time being."
Carter handed them both something they were going to need for the task at hand.
"Are you sure that what..." Myne started to say.
Then Alya gave a 'want to join them' look towards Myne.
Which quietly shut Myne up, as it was at times like this that she was reminded that she was indeed Carter's mother. As she might not always act like, though, given how her normal personality is around them.
