The Russian envoy was evidently well prepared, and immediately smiled:

Murad felt the deepest thorn in his heart touched, and his brows knitted at once as he replied bluntly:
"I do not need the Tsar to invest me."
Murad was once the Chancellor of the Astrakhan Dynasty of Bukhara. After marrying the Princess of Khan Abu Gazi, he launched a coup and seized power.
Yet, as he came to power by improper means, he faced unanimous resistance from the nobles of the realm, and thus could not proclaim himself as Khan—he could only become "Emir," which is roughly equivalent to commander or governor.
However, Murad also did not think much of the Khan invested by the Tsar of Russia.
